@TabletopTurtle the only "complaint" is it takes 2-3 sessions to get a handle on the mechanics, then I want to add the leaders and lore, then I want to play the campaign, but I've never had a grouo play the same game that many times.

@ TLDR Fate’s got a character named Saber, well Artoria Saber’s her class, and her design is reused a bunch in the series, these are deemed “Saber Faces”, and Infinity’s Jeanne is a dead ringer for Artoria, even more then Fate’s Jeanne, though the model of Jeanne with a long braid probably also takes from Fate’s Jeanne.

White Castle is our favorite and aside from that not much else at least among the ones we've played. It's hard to tell, because if you look at what's on their BGG page, it's hundreds of games, so they must have publishing rights in certain countries. Kim really likes Mille Fiori, but I can't tell if that's their game or they're just distributors. But yeah, it does seem like people are treating them like they're the A24 of the board game world.

It's tough because aside from Kingdom Builder, I only know him from dominion. So I'd go B. Appreciate what he has done for the hobby, but I just don't play his games anymore.

Thank you! I'm invested into eight because I have expansions, but I do think it's the better edition. It lets you use the Kevin Wilson changed rules and Tom's original vision for the game, depending on your preference. Plus, even though it has that samey Final Fantasy look to the art, it is the better looking game. Sadly, it's out of print and while I think it's the best, I don't think you'd feel bad owning ninth. You'll have the same amount of fun.

@@TabletopTurtle I love this channel from what I've seen so far, but I have to say, I cringe when anyone trashes a board game. it reminds me of when Anthony Bourdain was asked what he thought of Yelp and Yelpers, and he ranted about how Yelpers disgust him. He mentioned how restaurant owners put so much work into starting the business, there's so much work that goes into it, so much of an ongoing learning process trying to stay afloat, and then a Yelper inevitably leaves a review, "WORST. DINNER. EVER." That drove Bourdain nuts. And, I think it's a similar situation here. I would say your bona fides are probably far more solid than the average Yelper, but at least to me, I think there are far more constructive ways to critique a bad game than this. "But thanks for the game! (Thumbs up!) OOF.

@@INFPinSA I certainly understand your point and there are moments when we push a little hard on some games; however, our motto has always been to treat the viewer like they're a friend and they've asked us about a game. When you talk to a friend, you don't provide tepid criticism of a game. You be as honest as you can and maybe a little entertaining for a laugh. We're not here to help publishers make better games, so constructive criticism doesn't seem necessary. I think Bourdain is wrong about Yelpers. The reason people use customer review sites is because they want unfiltered opinions about the product they are considering consuming. A consumer owes nothing to a restaurant. They don't want "oh I didn't like it but maybe you will!" I've ALWAYS hated when content creators in the board game space talk about how great a game is but how they just don't like it. It feels so damn fake. So, early on, we agreed to be as honest as possible while also being entertaining. If publishers want to stop doing business with us, that's their decision. In every agreement we've had with publishers, they have always asked for nothing but honesty and transparency. I guess we're putting that to the test.

@@TabletopTurtle I'm definitely not saying to never pan a bad game. I am all for that, and in your defense, you gave a great reason why the game is not enjoyable...there is only ever one clear route to take, and because of that it's linear, boring, predictable, etc. That's totally fair. But at least to me, it's just completely unnecessary to mention that only the 'brain dead' would enjoy the game, or something to that effect. Full disclaimer, I am a sensitive softie type, I fully admit this, so I wince when I see publishers and 'brain dead' gamers who might like a particular game take what I would call a bit of a cheap shot.

Yeah that's what I felt too. What's funny is that I still enjoy the game and obviously Kim likes it. It's just hard sometimes when you have a game on your shelves you sometimes have to relearn because the rules are not intuitive
