A tenacious 10 out of 10 for this uplifting video, featuring the one & only lakeside & haverthwaite railway in cumbria, The L&HR is certainly, most definitely a one-of-a-kind branch line heritage railway from village to lake, through rolling thus surrounding scenery including views of the flowing river leven out there. I also describe this as Cumbria's branch line heritage railway, for whom the lakeside & haverthwaite railway, is also on my transportation destinations booklet/bucket list as well. I look forward to travelling to, as well as visit & ride the L&HR 'in-person' someday.

OH, and I still hope the wensleydale railway, (which also appears to have become quite a newfound hub in pacer preservation in recent years) can successfully re-open that stretch of line from leyburn up the dale to redmire, let alone onto castle bolton, Also to the west of Northallerton as well, I bet it'll be ever so great to see the entire remaining wensleydale line between redmire and northallerton fully resurrected in it's current surviving length, which is sure to go from strength to strength.

Why dont transperth does line to Bullsbrook and helps defence force personnel get planes to Sydney and Melbourne and Brisbane alnd other places around Australia also and express line up to dongara and Geraldton
@DrewsRailwayWorld11 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment and interesting questions. I think there may be an argument in the future to extend a service to Bullsbrook, to serve the areas growing around it, but it will need a much bigger population for this to be considered. Country/regional services used to exist to many country destinations in WA, most stopped in the 1970's, today only the Australind (?) and the various services that serve Kalgoorlie, Merredin and Toodyay survive. Again it's a question of population centres. Regional services are faring better in some of the Eastern States, with new trains and improved services after years of decline. Cheers Drew.......

Excellent, I plan to revisit the Challenge too later this year on my next visit to Perth, interesting if your limiting yourself to one pass each way through Claisebrook, Mc Iver and Perth/Perth Underground. My discipline was that you counted them as stations only once but as each line is a specific pair belonging to a specific line, e.g. Armadale, Midland. Passing through a different platform but not counting the station on the second time was fair enough. The exceptions in the original challenge never used the same line or platform twice, but I admire your plan, good luck. As a matter of interest what will be your starting point? ...Drew

Is the freight line standard guage?
@DrewsRailwayWorld2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video, and for your question. The freight line is actually dual gauge, a combination of 'standard' and 'narrow' gauges, this allows WA regional freight trains (many of which are historically narrow gauge) and standard gauge interstate freight access to amalgamated rail freight infrastructure, you can see this gauge duality clearly in another of my videos "Calling All Stations - Perth Suburban Railways: Part 5 Thornlie to Perth", at 03:17 - 04:39.
