While I was living in NY you treated my lower back pain with trigger point injections as well as RFA. I continue to have trigger point injections in SC where I reside but quite recently they are not effective. I watched your video and it seems I am a candidate. I recently had an MRI done and don't mind coming to NY for this procedure. I have Medicare.

Hello there. I cannot make specific treatment comments on this platform. Reach out to the office to do a telemedicine visit and we can review. I would need access to the MRI in advance. Thx

Dr Rubin, how long will the pain relief last for?
@DrEdwardSRubin27 күн бұрын
Results vary. Usually 3-6 months of relief
@tjl541927 күн бұрын
@DrEdwardSRubin thank you. I would be happy with that. Is there ever a fix permanently for this? I had an L5 vertebrae compression fracture 6 months ago. Got the injection 2 weeks ago. So far so good. Is the pain from arthritis in that area or inflammation? Also would it be wise to move to a warm weather climate via NY to Florida. Would that help it? Thanks

Can my husband still use a welder if he has an hfx stimulater implemented?
@DrEdwardSRubin27 күн бұрын
In time, yes. However, I would restrict from doing any heavy lifting during the 5 day trial and for first 6 weeks after a permanent implant

Patients can go back to work in 1-2 days if they have a desk job. Manual labor type jobs may require 6 weeks before cleared for full activity

I cannot comment on specific cases, but for patients who get a positive temporary response the SI joint fusion may be an option. We have a video on that

I have L5 lumbar spinal stenosis, but my symptom is numbness and tingling in my left foot and calf, not the walking pain described here that is alleviated by sitting down or hunching over on a shopping cart. I wonder if this procedure is appropriate for milder spinal stenosis cases.
@DrEdwardSRubinАй бұрын
I cannot comment on specific cases, but MILD can be done for less severe cases of stenosis as long as the stenosis is coming from posterior facet joint hypertrophy rather than from the disc impingement. The MILD procedure does not reach to the disc

Smart hospital Drs., not recommending a spinal fusion. I had a 4 level (L2-S1) fusion back in 2015, which failed. I just went through the trial for a Nevro HFX SCS. The trial gave me 90% relief the first 4 days but then the lead migrated down a little (no biggy). Great experience though!!! But with all the horror stories, I'm stumped as to if I should proceed with the permanent one. I'm 65 yrs. old and I live a sedentary lifestyle Weak legs and lower back weakness) due to a ruined left hip from 3 hip revisions and need to walk with a cane. I believe in SCS's, but it's a 50/50 chance for anyone once they go for the permanent one. Thank you for this interview and thank God my Dr. uses the Nevro HFX system. I, too, want off all pain meds.

I cannot comment on specific cases, but sorry to hear it did not help you. See the video on Reactiv8 as that may be an option for patients who failed Intracept. Also I have seen it take 6 mo for full effect from the Intracept as well

What lead style do you think is better for a broader width of multifidus coverage, SPRINT’s or reactiv8’s? Because they are currently both on label for motor stimulation.
@DrEdwardSRubinАй бұрын
I like both, but Reactiv8 is specifically engineered to get multifidus stimulation
@BradLessyАй бұрын

What I don’t understand is why Medicare stopped paying for RFA to the SI joint and opted to pay for this procedure. Patients should have a choice. RFA has proven to be effective and it relieved my pain for at least three years. why not get a RFA at the same time of this procedure so you can have pain relief while the fusion is taking place?
@DrEdwardSRubinАй бұрын
I agree, unfortunate that ablation is not covered any longer
@BradLessy3 ай бұрын
What do you think is better, the SPRINT or NALU system?
@DrEdwardSRubinАй бұрын
I like SPRINT initially as the patient can get 2 mo of treatment. If they need one permanently I would do Nalu for permanent placement
@BradLessyАй бұрын
@ that’s kind of what my doctor said. Thanks. Do you find that sprint has a high incidence of lead fracture? That hook at the end seems rather fragile. SPR has redesigned the lead a couple times but there’s been mixed reportings on the incidence of lead fracture.

I got neuropathy from Levaquin but initially it was in my legs and years later it spread into my upper back , neck and stomach/torso region. I was considering this as a last resort if my nutritional IV's , IGG infusion, and other couple of medications i wanted to try dont work. My pain is so widespread not sure if it will work for me. Im circling the drain i think at this point.
