Nice to see you, Emily. What beautiful stitching you have. I also enjoyed seeing your cats and your plants. I hope your kitties are around and healthy and comfortable for a long time to come. It's hard caring for elderly or ailing animals (or humans). Take care, and happy stitching.

I 100% understand everything you said about wearing a mask. I think of it as "pretending" and it can be so exhausting. It's so important that we look out for ourselves. The pet caretaking days can be so challenging, I feel for you. I'm sorry they both had health issues at the same time! They're so lucky to have you and Jim and such a loving and caring home. I'm glad Dharma is getting a new, hot bod out of all of this! 😁

Thanking you for talking about Masking. As a Realtor, I do this on every.single.appointment. Every listing appointment. Every buyer’s consultation. Also, my daughter, the future pharmacist, uses a flat tire analogy for mental health- if you have a flat tire, you fix it, right? No shame, you get it taken care of. Her flat tire analogy has helped several of her friends to realize that chemical imbalances are the same- there are tools( drugs) available to treat it, and no shame.

Stopping video (don’t worry just a pause but if I wait until it’s over I’ll forget to comment). I too take medication for anxiety and depression. Yes I avoided it for a long time. One time in discussing with my doctor my concern about taking anything and how I didn’t want a “crutch” or to be hooked on anything, he said to me, “a diabetic needs to take insulin because their body is missing something it needs. Your body is missing something it needs and thus you’re not functioning as you should and we need to figure out what that is and replace it.” Huge light bulb moment for me. I like the swimming pool analogy as well. Has it perfectly fixed me. Well of course not but I’m way better than I was. And why he normally, anyway?

Hi Emily! Thanks for sharing all your beautiful wips and upcoming new plans with us all! Hope you have a great vacation and hope too that all your kitties do well with all the meds that they now have to endure! It’s so tough as they age and we all age! We have a 13 year old kitty and two 9 year old dogs and 2 horses, one that is on meds as she is lame and is about 25 years old! Yes, so much responsibility, but so much love! Sending you healing energy for your animals and you as well! You are one strong, amazing lady! Thanks for sharing all the good and not so good! Appreciate you so much! Hugs!

Oh Emily…you are a 20 yr.-younger version of me! I love being by myself…in fact I prefer it, but then wonder if there’s something wrong with me because of it! And I am surrounded by parents/in-laws with dementia…they say in order to prevent dementia, you need to keep being social…I am doomed! 🤪 Thank you for the mental health talk! I can totally relate. I love the analogy of your brain being a swimming pool that needs chemicals to function properly. I've always said that I'm extraverted for professional reasons but am an introvert in my personal life. As I age my social anxiety has become more pronounced though so there's that going on too. We have to talk about mental health. We just must!

Enjoyed visiting today; I am so sorry that both of your babies are not well. There is nothing easy about this time; just keep on taking care of them and loving them, with every thing that that involves; you will never regret any of it; you will only wish you could have done it more. Thank you for the pep talk regarding our mental health, also; gentle reminders are good. Your stitching was also so enjoyable to see and hear about. I stitched through the whole video; thank you for keeping me company. See you on the next one!

I appreciated you giving your view on depression/mental illness. I have become more of a home body, be by myself kind of girl although that has always been me. I'm not a social butterfly, I can be quite uncomfortable around people but can also be ok around people and enjoy it, on my terms. Your comment about the "you" present when you have to interact with others not being you I don't think is quite true, it's an Emily that is inside of you when you need her but not the "you" you are most comfortable being! Keep up the awesome work with all your projects and bless your kitties - as you say, love them as long as you can.

Thank you for normalizing the comfort of being alone and solace. I too have to put on another persona for my job. It is exhausting. Don't get me wrong I like to talk to people and socialize. But like a true introvert I need a lot of alone time to recover from the work persona and all that peopling. I always thought or was told something was wrong with me, that I was weird, etc. Now I just tell people I am spending time with friends and family (my dogs). Thank you for being a part of this community and sharing. From one fur baby plant lady to another. Hope Darma starts to adjust to getting her meds...been there and Buster improves.

I don’t know you but I love you.! I to also love being alone for most things. I like to shop by myself, stay at home by myself, not talk on the phone very often. My sister and I can carry on a good 2 hour conversation because she also likes being and doing things by herself. So she understands. I have really great friends that have been told what I suffer from and what meds I am on, so when they call and want to hang out or come over, they are ok and understand if I say today is not a good day. They don’t ask a bunch of questions and they know I just need a day or two to unwind and be silent. I am retired and my husband passed away 5 years ago, so I can do that when I need to. I don’t feel bad about it, can’t change it and I love the no drama life. I know when I have had enough of the outside world ( after visiting or talking to my daughter or my son) that their life was not and is not for me. I unplug my landline phone and put my cell phone tone down real low….for a couple days and love the feeling of just me and my quite house in the country with my Frenchton dog Roxy. She takes very good care of me and knows or feels my moods. We are who we are and we can’t be pushed into being someone we are not. I go to church most Sunday so I get my fix of outsiders. They also know how I am and some Sundays I just can’t. So I stay home and don’t get dressed and sometimes go back to bed…I wish more people would stop trying to drag me away from my sweet spot(home) and get me out there with the animals or creatures or whatever people want to call themselves. We are best and happiest facing our battle by ourselves. My daughter has told me on numerous times she wishes I could have found the right medication years and years ago. Their growing up lives would have been much calmer. My daughter also takes meds for depression and is truly a much calmer person when she stays on those. She has twins( boy and a girl age 12) that can just push her last button. You don’t want to be in the same block as her when that button has found either one of them. Her ex husband also knows what buttons to push or NOT push. He is very understanding and hard working and come over to her place whenever she calls for help with one kid or the other. She is lucky for that. Enough. Just wanted you to know there are us people who understand how things are. Lots of great stitching you have done and are doing. Enjoy listening to you and hang in there 😅 things are all good. So sorry about your babies, they help us so much with our struggles, help them with theirs. I can tell your a great parent. Good vibes, Darlene

🌵 love your stitching, love your sunroom and the beautiful plants, and sending a lot of well wishes for the kitties. I know how difficult it can be to care for elder cats. It’s like they go their whole lives never needing a vet visit but then make up for it in the later years; my (almost) 16 yr old cat included. But like you said, we’re just living in their world so we love them and make them as comfortable as we can for as long as they need us. Have a lovely rest of your week 💜
