What stitch length do you use on your machine? I tried 10 but it is loo long.

How do u finish angelus paint ? Whenever I use tan kote, it just pulls the paint right off
@Girtyleatherco3 күн бұрын
I don’t have a perfect answer honestly. I use multiple really thin coats and try to not rub as hard over the painted area when I apply tan kote. I’ve heard of people using sheen or similar products just on the paint to seal it up but that hasn’t worked very well for me. I almost always have a small amount of rub off I have to touch up. At least 2-3 really thin coats and allowing it to dry well helps me the most
@tylersureddin3213 күн бұрын
@@Girtyleatherco so when u re apply the thin coats of paint do u just leave it unfinished after ? It’s frustrating 🤣

I’m using my brooks 30 degree bevelers here. They’re more of a standard angle. Brooks announced they stopped making leather tools awhile back so I’m not sure if you can find them anymore. I have some Barry King XX Steep bevelers and I’d for sure recommend them!

Barry King has a website, you should be able to find it pretty easy. I use the sizes 0,1,2. The 0 is about 1/8” wide I think

Have you ever participated in World Leather Debut?
@Girtyleatherco7 күн бұрын
Yes! I entered a fully tooled bifold wallet in the show a couple years ago. I didn’t win anything, but I had only been crafting with leather for about a year at the time and the wallet was definitely not worthy of winning any awards lol! I was also able to attend the show and it was an awesome experience all around! I met up with many other makers I had spoke with online and made some friends I still talk to very often! I’d love to do it again when I get the chance

Damn. Never seen a hobby lobby so well stocked. Every one I've been to is always picked over. I rarely go there anymore. Only if I need something quicker than placing an order and waiting for it to be shipped.
@Girtyleatherco15 күн бұрын
I frequent this one for a handful of small items. It's not that far from me, so its usually a quick in and out. I have been to other hobby/crafting stores where the leather section is about useless. This one looks like this 8/10 times. Even though I don't need most of the items on the wall, I always feel like a kid in a candy store looking through leather craft supplies lol!
@maddawgnoll15 күн бұрын
@@Girtyleatherco If only weaver would open more store fronts like Tandy. Although Tandy has been closing a lot of them. Closest leather supply (outside of hobby lobby) to me is Montana leather, but that's an overnight trip.

What was the pillow looking piece while punching holes? Sorry if I missed that

It is a small piece of HDPE cutting board! You can also just use a scrap piece of leather under the belt to protect the hole punches, chisels, etc.

@@Girtyleatherco thanks for the response!! But I was actually referring to the item you have on top of the belt. Looks like a small leather pillow kind of. Is it like a weight to help it not move so much?
@Girtyleatherco15 күн бұрын
Oh okay! Sorry about that, yeah it is just a weight that I made to help keep my projects from slipping around when I’m tooling or working on them. Its just two pieces of leather sewn together and filled up with metal BB’s
