Great session as always, just a quick question. Why do you do your burpees from straight legs as opposed to squating down? I'm just curious.
@duncanwalshfitnessweightlo932915 күн бұрын
Yeah, so in a different life I played professional squash. 20 years but then 10 years afterwards playing competitively. It makes you great at a long lunge, chasing that ball around, but not so good going backwards with a deep squat type movement. Your anatomy adapts to the demands of the game after decades of specificity with those movements. So in the squat type movement my spine leans forward a little. When I came to doing 6 counts about 18 months ago, I noticed my legs were building lactic in the Vastus Medialis after only a few. Why? My legs were very well conditioned. The reason was that my leaning forward, due to my spine shape, was putting all the weight on that smaller quad muscle. Once I widened the stance I was able to use my main quads. So that is why! Not sure if it's easier or harder - more on the shoulders a little because my legs travel further distance from my standing stance to the plank position. It works for me, so I'm happy to keep it going. The price of pro sport!😄 Thanks Rob 👌

@duncanwalshfitnessweightlo9329 I did wonder if it was a result of earlier mechanics. Its amazing what affects the body moving forward. I'm currently trying to retrain years of damage. We keep moving forward. I thank you so much for your videos, you keep me motivated.

Ridiculous recovery on display. Definitely earned a bowl/(bucket?) of nuts, must have burned 1500 cals here. Having heard about omega balancing, I'm careful what nuts I eat now though, I've switched from cashew to the more boring but healthier walnut. Yes I agree about fitness and the health system. I mean, human rights etc you can't do anything about it, but incentives for health living practices would seem a sensible measure. Apart from a genuine unpreventable issue, I haven't been to the GP in over 5 years, that must save the country a bit of money. Also I do think sugary stuff, tobacco etc should be taxed into obsolescence as they are so linked to poor health metrics and cost the country heavily, money that could be better spent on treatment for folk with unpreventable disease etc
@duncanwalshfitnessweightlo932922 күн бұрын
Yes, with you on the health system. Information from the NHS says "Lifestyle choices are responsible for around 40% of all deaths in England and cost the NHS more than £11 billion a year. These lifestyle choices include: eating too much unhealthy food, drinking more alcohol than is recommended, continuing to smoke, and not being active enough"
