I'm a Brit, you are lucky get these as so many have been lost. Funny as I jump from eps to eps, I quickly surmise the situation & accept it & don't feel I've lost anything because right thru the history it's always arguments, love, marriage, divorce, accidents & deaths ie your contract is terminated. Glad you like it & it does mirror Great Britain to a certain extent apart from all the bad luck Corrie (slang for..) people have!

Despite the rain coat and the flat beret and the horned rimmed spectacles you can see in reality Lynne Carol is a younger lovely looking actress, in real life she was only in her forties! Wonderful character actress.

Look at the opening scenes to a movie called 'Possessed' 1931 and compare the factory scenes. Little changed in the 30 years between this and then. Consider the changes between this and 1992. CS is a great social document. How banal it is now is a reflection of where we are at now. Imagine if it reaches 100 years.

Emily Nugent is quite pretty. Why she would even think about an old fool, like that Swindley character, is beyond me. The writers could have given her a bit more self confidence, a bit more sparkle. She's a good actress and could have had a more prominent role, even this early on, associating her with the younger crowd. Instead, they cast her in a part, where she looked like an old ugly duckling, which she wasn't, by any means. ------- Christine was always a loose cannon. Moody, unreasonable, indecisive and just strange. There are missing episodes, so I don't know what caused her to fall into such a depression, at this point, and really crack up.
