Definitely DO NOT spray IPA or any other cleaning agent onto the rods, spray onto a cloth and then wipe. Spraying in the enclosure results in covering the belts (rubber and alcohol don't mix, will dry out and crack), covering the linear Y rods and removing all the grease from inside which you can't repack, spraying onto the rods is terrible advice unfortunately. Follow Bambu's maintenance guides to prevent damaging your machine. Also probably best not to use oil on the lead screws, oil can run down the screw and into the stepper motor below (very bad), again there is a reason why Bambu specify grease and not oil 😵‍💫

Yeah, there's a lot of bad advice in this video. Clearly not made by someone who knows how it's supposed to be done. Also... using compressed air to clean a machine? Really not done. This will only blow dirt into the small crevices, making the risk of jams bigger.

To be fair, the official rod cleaning video published by Bambu Lab's youtube channel had them spraying alcohol on the rods. Not that I'd ever think or want to pour isopropyl into a spray bottle.

A paper towel? why not a micro fibre cloth..? also why lubricate only one off the rods and not all? I got more questions then answers....

A few suggestions, do the cleaning of fans and extruder before other maintenance. This will avoid getting crap on your newely cleaned and lubricated z rods, camera, fiber rods, etc. just makes sense, rough messy stuff always first. Appreciate your video, just reorient the sequence of steps.

Good video..but quit using regular paper towel!! That is leaving fibres behind. Use Blue shop towels or a microfiber cloth instead. Otherwise you are just adding to the problem of leaving bits behind on your rods and lead screws

It's best practice to hold fans still with one hand and use compressed air with the other. This will reduce wear on the bearings and prevent a dynamo effect from putting electricity back through the system.

FYI for people that don’t want to keep buying desiccant (I have no idea how much it costs), I have hearing aids that use a desiccant at night. Manufacturer recommends merely “refreshing” the desiccant by zapping in microwave for a short time. They change back to their original color and are good to go.

Is spraying a solvent on the rails and then running the linear bearings on them over that cleaner really a good idea? I feel like that's a great way to take whatever's on the rails and put it in the bearings.

Hello. I have 1 question about Bambu Studios - maybe you will be able to help me. I was trying to add a simple, plain circle to Bambu Studios to print a coin but in bugger size (10cm diameter). And when I upload the .svg file to Slicer I can see that the edge of the coin is not fully rounded - you can see the small walls that make up the circle. I tried uploading few different circle .svg files that are 100% circles and in Bambiu Slicer the walls & small edges appear. The question is: Is this normal that the Slicer shows these walls and not fully plain edge of the circle - but it will print it as a plain circle? Or should I do some editing within the slicer to make it disappear? Sorry to ask, my printer will come in a month from now and Im already trying to get some first models done and learn some about Bambu Slicer. Thank you in advance and Happy New Year! :)

You forgot the most important thing, in my opinion. Check the tubes, all the tubes. They do wear down and guess where all the debris and dust ends. X1 is known for clogging and I am pretty sure PTFE dust and debris is a bad thing. There are examples, that the filament has completely worn through the tube. Bambu recommend check after each 10 kg or 5 kg if you use abrasive filament. If you suddenly get under extrusion, check your tubes and replace if necessary. Bambu Wiki has a good guide howto. TIP: Using compressed air is always, the first thing you do during maintenance. Just cleaned and oiled, no reason to blow dust to the oily things.

You left out one thing, especially if printing with ABS: Use some glass cleaner on the inside of the door and the underside of the glass top. The gasses from ABS will attract dust and grime and fog them up if not cleaned -- just like what you get on the inside of your car's windshield.

Fans should not be allowed to be spinning when air cleaned. Electrical Back Voltage: In some fans, particularly in computers, spinning the blades can generate electricity (back EMF). This unintended voltage can potentially damage the fan’s motor or the electronic components it’s connected to.

Excellent video! I like you make it clear you have no problem with making mistakes and poke fun at yourself about it. Good job! On the fans - I've been cleaning electronics fans for 40+ years, I always use a vacuum hose and a soft brush FIRST, then follow up with canned air with the vacuum hose nearby. MUCH less mess. Your way blows dust everywhere! Anyone who has this printer has a vacuum and a soft brush, eh? Cleaning the rails - shop / blue towels as you know, but put the towel BEHIND the rod then spray so the extra goes on the towel. ;) Small things. Again, great video that Bambu should have done. Sub'd. :)

Thanks! They definitely agree about the blue shop towels, and those were linked in the description from the beginning! Beginning! The reason that I used paper towel is because I didn't have my blue shop till at the studio and I think more people have paper towel in their house. But I definitely mentioned to be very careful because it will flake off. I appreciate the feedback and agree with the vacuum as well! As you pointed out in another comment, I was following their instructions and wanted to make sure I betrayed their instructions correctly. But I agree with you 100% on the things you said! I could be wrong but I think when you were cleaning the micro LIDAR you may actually have been cleaning the camera lens. Yes , I said that right :) Not the chamber camera. The X1C has a camera on the bottom of the print head, as well as the micro LiDAR on the side. Again someone please correct me if that’s wrong but I’m pretty sure it’s not. :)

Do you have to place the AMS on the top of the machine? Or can’t you relocate it?

You can relocate it to the side or above if you want! It doesn't have to be on the top!

Does Bambu list a spec for the belt tension screw torque? Just until they're tight and maybe a quarter turn past that is pretty vague.
