I think it's because some women use male attention to gain dopamine hits (emotional hormonal) as reminders that "I'm STILL desirable to men" so that she's really just preening / basking in your attention - perhaps soaking & inviting more - yet unwilling or unable to go further - perhaps specific to you or I (we don't qualify ) or maybe not to any man. I've seen this pretty often - but have learned not to "feed the monster" - once she gives any sense of being a game player, I immediately stop any overt attention gifts to her. In fact ignoring her is a test - see if she moves your way, or not. Sadly, most older single (normally divorced) women are so broken it's just not worth the effort. Most of the decent responsive women are long term married but have poor relations with a grumpy or sick husband. They intuitively KNOW how to relate well but are hungry for healthy rapport with a man. Obviously your only way forward is for her husband to pass away or get divorced, but if the latter, it'll make you always wonder if she'd leave you in time.

As an older guy (late 50s) now widowed, it’s fun flirting with women, even way younger. Just the other day, at a burger joint, I sat across from a young women. Her boyfriend had his back to me. I've gotten the almost entire list off a handful of women only to find we had almost nothing in common. Met other women who I found out through others that knew her that we did or do have a few critical things in common and... nothing...😣 or quick rejection. Men use logic when searching for a life partner at least I do. Critical things in common - Find her attractive so I will always think of her as amazing even if she's gaining weight or sick- Her weakness is my strength (complimentary ability)- I don't care much about is she shorter or taller but they put this as critical #1 before what you consider critical

A couple others tried those other options and rejected them as well and never did find any man suitable. Three or so were fairly direct why they passed on me; The first was my big school crush - "If only you were 2" taller I'd make you my bf .. I need taller". I never chased her around. She brought up she thought I was cute but was doing a lot of gardening with the guys in school. The second said that I was "exactly what I wanted in a man" (she said perfect) then snapped and ended it when I mentioned I have a female friends. I didn't realize she was very jealous. She married a man who looks almost like my identical twin believe it or not. She runs the show though... she says jump to him. The next who said I was a great 👍 option then said that she was thinking marriage but *I had to first convert to her religion* not let's see where things go. I know we could have made a fine couple and she have her religious beliefs and me mine in this context for her living condition of handicapped mobility. There were times when I am sure I dropped the ball and made them say no. I didn't offer to take her hand while walking over ice once (she didn't want to talk about herself at all in the 3 months so it always felt like a stranger so is it too soon too late all these unknowns). Might have come on too strong for their liking. I want to get down to business. Are you in or out. I don't want to continue dating with nothing but we'll see continuously. I always was up front I'm after a relationship not casual. My male friends all agree those women who bolted at the mention of relationship were Serial Daters... floating around until a Rock Star who will blow her besties away shows up. A couple did mention that they thought I was too old but later saw them with even older men than myself. Maybe those women never knew what they wanted in the first place. Two told me they were still really hung up about their exes.

@@RetroCaptain looks like serial dater to me. perhaps you overinvest to early in financial way. that makes you an "attractive friend", so a lot of creepy girls would like to stick around, trying to manipulate and to abuse. well such girls are easy to filter out. just time together instead of date for first couple meetings will tell, if they are interested in you, or just want a free ride and you look stupid enough to them. and perhaps do not try to ask them out, but instead validate them. you need to systematize your wants, needs, no goes, to be able to validate. you need a list for you to know what to look for and some ideas how to find it out subtle and not by asking straight in their faces. like telling a story and asking them what they feel or think about parts of it. or telling a joke and talk about it. immagine herself in that situation, what she would do and stuff like that. do not even let her in the space, where she validates parts of you. as soon as you see that happening, hush her out of there with humor but from the point of strength, not being defensive, protective or shy about that. something like "you do not like it? pfff, and I thought that you have good taste. wellp..." or just some funny shit that makes no sense like "yea you know how hard it is to find a shirt , that doesnt look nerdy, with such small biceps. well because you have an eye for that, I want you to help me to find a good fitting shirt next time I buy one. you need my biceps to look good, I want to give you a chance to do something for it." it just has to be ballanced. she fucks around, you fuck around. she leans into, you lean into. but after each fuckup on her side, you look a bit suspiciously for a moment. let her gain your trust again. a lot of them just need honesty instead of 100% tollerance. they do not want to be seen as a stupid child that cant handle results of what they are doing. they want to feel soft control. if you are nice in any case it makes them feel powerless and frustrated, if they cant even turn you off, even if they shit on you and turning you on is effortless.

It's a good list. I feel like putting them on the back of a business card for easy reference. I'm seeing about half of them regularly at the Senior Center while serving or bussing during lunch. Any senior men out there 60+, check out your senior center at lunch. You be immersed in women, about 75% of patrons are women all shapes and sizes with many surprises. You can eliminate about half of them for the usual reasons. But it's a concentration and the remaining 25% are open to flirting (great practice if your off your game), some are seeking a mate with more interest than others. I'm getting great eye contact and the subtle touch is frequently not so subtle. The playful tease and the blush show often. It is a great confidence builder you can use anywhere. Even if you don't find one you want to keep, you'll be able to polish your rizz and have fun doing it. The food is cheap and good, at least where I live. Another hack I learned Thursday (Halloween): The volunteers all dressed for Halloween, I had bought a small monster makeup kit that had Vampire teeth in it. Women loved it. They wanted selfies. Next year I will go as fully decked out Dracula without a second's hesitation. Vampire teeth, who knew? Strong JooJoo.

Think my brother-in-law must have seen some body language when we were getting takeaways. I stepped up to the counter and just read out the large family order. When I turned and went back to wait with my brother-in-law and nephew the bil had a terrible grin and said to his son, "we'll go wait in the car." I thought to myself, "Oh shit, what has he seen?" When it came time to pick up the order the change was scattered all over the shop by flailing hands. The flailing hands also failed to wrap up the food, another worker immediately stepping in to take over the task. The bugger couldn't wait to get home to tell my sister. Sister asked me what she looked like. I honestly replied that I had no idea as I was looking at the piece of paper or all over the floor for the change.
