This should be the intro video for the rest. What I've NEVER heard before: 1. Cartilage is 70% water. That fact alone motivates me to drink more water. 2. The synovial fluid becomes more viscous the more often we're sedentary. It helps me to understand why my knee is so stiff when I wake up each morning. These videos are such a blessing for us! Just one suggestion: you recommend seeing a P.T. However, every one that I've seen focuses on quad strength, not glute strength. Only one PT clinic that I've gone to focused on hip strength, but that didn't help me at all. How do we find PT clinics that recommend your methods?

I was told 10 years ago that I needed knee replacement. Doc said my right knee is bone on bone and the knee is always swollen. I chose instead to go to physical therapy for 6 weeks and that really helped. I do my elliptical 4 X a week and stretches. However, yesterday I stepped down the stairs and my knee gave out completely and I fell. Falling on the soft carpet saved me but now I am afraid it could happen again where I could get injured. Your video is great. At 73 years young I do not want knee replacement surgery. Thank you for the great tips!!

This was so helpful, and I'm glad I'm already doing so many of these things! I had septic arthritis in both knees 2 years ago and I do NOT want knee replacements. I'm hurting with every step but I believe the body can heal itself (not always completely, but you've got to have hope!).Cannot be emphasized enough, work with and support your body!

Thank you so much for imparting such knowledge & so many details. Your lessons/advice have been so helpful in taking away my knee pain. The doctor I saw said that I am far away from cortisone shots or any surgery, but with your encouraging words, I now know that I will NEVER have to get surgery, and I won’t! I’ve strengthened and focused on my glutes, and am being cognizant of drinking more water. Further, the exercises and movements that you have suggested have all worked. As I do the weight machines at the club, I am constantly checking to make certain that I am indeed, using my glutes. I am back to walking with a bounce in my step and have no irritation at all!! Please know that you are gifted in what you do and you have made so many people’s world a better & healthier place!! Many, many thanks!! ✨⭐️✨

Very good information! I have osteoarthritis in both knees. I am a ultra marathoner. I do all this tips. They work well. I did some blood flow restriction therapy with a PT. I gain more muscle in my quads and most important my glutes. Don't give up. Exercise your core, butt and eat clean. I went plant base about 6 years ago and I think that has made a big difference. Eat a anti inflammatory diet.

I was looking at both knee replacement! I’m very much trying all of these. I’m in physical therapy right now pre replacement but praying I don’t have to get done. I do drink lots of water and use a sit down portable bike also. Thank you so much. I do have bone on bone.

Do a websearch on the cocktail of suppliments to take to rebuild your knees. Mine do not hurt any more and no clicking either. I have rebuilt them. There is clinical research showing that T2 collagen tells your body the cartilage is not a foreign object, so quit eating it up (move free ultra, in the white box, has this) also, remember, you have got to reduce the inflammation so there is no swelling. The good stuff can't get in if it is swollen. I always took ibuprofen 20 minutes before the other suppliments. I have no financial interest in any of this, but it does work.

I had both knees replaced, three and a half months apart, and was the best thing I could have done. After a year I could jog up and down stairs, do squats and cycle as much as I wanted and no pain. I was seventy at the time. If the joint is gone it's gone. In Vancouver they do knee replacements as day surgery. They straighten the leg easily as well. My advise is loose excess weight and do what you can to get fit. Oh, get a cryocuff as well, speeds recovery.

Hey Tom! Thanks for the recommendations! Great advice, we think weight loss and staying fit are great core habits to keep for the best knee health possible too!!! The cryocuff is vital after having a knee replacement since there's so much trauma to the knee. But it might be overkill for someone with knee pain. @CuriousCanuk there are soooo many people that still have knee pain even after having a knee replacement and they're looking for what to do to avoid having ANOTHER knee replacement. Also for people that have not had a knee replacement, knee pain can flare down and be painless. They might still be traumatized from the pain they had and don't want it to come back or worsen.

@@epmanualphysicaltherapy Thank you. Sounds like surgery doesn't always work or doesn't last. Everyone I know wants me to have knee replacements. I had to quit going to one chiropractor because he badgered me about it every 5 minutes. I want to try your recommendations first. I'm 73 and miserable with pain, but more than that I'm miserable that I can't get any support from friends and family and strangers who believe they know me better than I know myself. This is why I've decided to do my own research and happily found and subscribed to your channel. Cheers from Canada 🖐😊

@@curiouscanuck hey there. I just happened on to it. And I think the therapy and the drugs and all those things need to be looked at. But at one point when you see the X-ray and the knee has no lubrication and is riddled with arthritis and it's bone on bone it is time to get a replacement. It was thought 5 to 7 years ago that they were only 75 or 80% successful but it's much higher than that now. The methods change and improve every year. Get all the information you can ask a lot of questions. I'm just a carpenter I'm no doctor but when the knee was gone I had to act. That's my experience not every one is the same. Find the surgeon that has a very high success rate. There's always a reason for that. Pain is depressing and if you can't move you gain weight even more depressing. I was still walking okay and could ride a bike but the surgeon said look 6 months to a year and you won't be able to climb stairs couple years later you'll be in a wheelchair. Why not do it now when you'll have a much better chance of success being slimmer and fitter. It's up to you

Thank you so much as always. Just understanding more about our knees and joints makes me think differently and it all makes sense. Having said that the walking right and using stairs how you teach will need practice. Doesn’t come easy, old habits die hard. But definitely going to try.

Keep.moving after surgery exercises are 3 times a day after your healed up one time a day . It was funny to me I didn't even notice for a while I was on a job sitting like an Indian and I realized I hadn't done this in years sound so insignificant but I thanked God and had my chuckle inside while on the job 😅

These are all great tips, if you still have cartilage, but you can't heal what's not there anymore. At 44, I needed and got bilateral knee replacement, and after being in excruciating pain since i was 25, my life was changed for the better.

Hey Leanne! Sorry to hear about your knee replacements :-( Yes, you're right! If the cartilage to too far gone and very worn away, then the possibility of healing it enough to get back to normal is reduced. The hope is that you can start doing the right things soon enough to be able to avoid surgery. Now that you've got the knee replacements though, it's important for you to be able to protect them and avoid having knee replacements again. That means keeping your muscles in balance and increasing your strength gradually. The same root problems that lead to getting knee replacements are the same root problems that lead to the next knee replacement.

Many of those tips are about correcting the causes of the knee problem and I would add hip and lower back problems as this is a chain that would go as far as headaches via neck tension and stiffness. I am 77 years old and I had one knee replacement and I do not want another kne surgery, it is too painful. I will bookmark your video and get going with one or two of your tips to begin with and with time as these become an habit, I will add one or two more and so on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Best choice i ever made knee replacement i had minimal pain never used a walker was out of physical therapy in 5 weekes i went 1 time a week . But I had a brilliant Dr who ownes the patient on my knee replacement . I have full range of motion forward and back .

Thanks wish it turnd out so everyone could get the results I have . But people need to be told you have to stretch bend everyday my TKR is 4 yrs old i still stretch knee every day I think it makes the difference. If you didn't see my scar you wouldn't know I had a replacement .

Interesting video. I've been diagnosed as bone on bone (no cartilage) so am contemplating knee replacement. Have reached a stage where I can hardly walk down the road to the corner store without become tired. Will try some of your exercises to see if they help. Thanks for posting htis.

Stem injections work I know I’m 70 and have avoided knee replacements ( I was a runner for 40 years) motion is lotion ! Plus I exercise everyday yoga Pilates weight spin and catrike I drink 2 liter H2O 🇺🇸

My exray said rather severe lateral-tibial joint degenerative change. No other boney or soft tissue abnormalities. I have been doing your glute exercises and trying to walk and use my glutes all the time. It has helped a lot. Will my knee eventually be straight agian? The Orthopedic Surgeon gave me a brace for balance.

Thank you, I watched this a second time with a notebook. Just when a person is feeling good about being your your 60s, knee problems can start so this therapy is also a mental health saver. (Got this problem from my father - my mother didn't have bone on bone until she turned 90, the lucky duck.)

Hiking up and down on on uneven terrain can strengthen your glutes, toes, quads, and entire lower body. Wear a knee support when walking. Give your knee alternating hot and cold pack treatments.

I had all troubles with my knees because heavy training in the past. Started to do stretching and yoga, intermittent fasting and only healthy food. Pain gone, lost weight. Do something for yourself.

I’ve been home from bilateral ACL tears for 6 months. The butt exercise and all the pt exercises are working. I do it everyday. Also turmeric everyday since to drop the inflammation down 80%. Huge difference.

Great advice. :) I was in therapy for months for my knees and some of the exercises I was doing worked on the glutes but they never talked about that and they never mentioned the part about the toes. Great to know. :) I think another major factor is to avoid eating inflammatory‘s. Most people with bad knees have pain because of inflammation, eating grain products especially processed grains and grain oils and even lectins in tomatoes and some vegetables cause inflammation. Personally I don’t think human beings should be eating processed grains or grain oils at all and that means bread pasta tortillas, any kind of corn rice Kwiet and even refined starches like potatoes and beans can cause inflammation. I tried therapy for three years and it wasn’t enough my knees kept getting worse, I changed while I was eating and continued with the therapy and in six months I see a huge difference. There was no way I could’ve gone up a stair with my left knee six months ago, now I can go up about three stairs. Also generally you’re going to lose a bunch of weight also because those inflammatory‘s are all refined starches which are about the most fattening and damaging food we eat, and you mentioned bone broth but getting collagen and the proper cholesterols is critical because that’s what the tissues regenerate and grow with, it’s what the cells eat to reproduce and function. The other thing is using ice packs and knowing how to use them, used to have a bad habit of just putting them on and leaving them for hours, you need to do 20 minutes on 20 minutes off. I think you need to do everything. I’m beyond the point where both of my knees should be replaced according to Drs, but I had one doctor tell me that knee replacements don’t last forever so avoid it as long as I can at least until I’m in my mid to late 60s. Other doctors I’ve seen that help me or Ashley diet-based Drs Paul talking about nutrition, avoiding the wrong kind of foods, learning how to hydrate properly because it’s not just drinking more water you need the minerals in the water, electrolytes which isn’t Gatorade, it’s potassium magnesium and sodium and chloride, I was drinking way over a gallon a day maybe a gallon and a half dehydrated all the time now I drink about 3 L a day with electrolyte drops and I’m fine, just drinking more water without the minerals in it will dehydrate you more because it will flush the remaining minerals you do have out of your system.

I’m glad you found an eating plan that works. Potatoes and beans in whole natural state aren’t refined and eaten for centuries by diff long living populations. Lectins are easily cooked out and shown by good independent studies to have benefits but anti nutrient narratives about them (and phytates) with books, talks etc have made many millions for authors, publishers and media.

@@jmc8076 I get it but even if it’s organic and grown correctly beans are a starch and starch is sugar and sugar causes oxidative stress a little later on the program potatoes are the same if you eat a baked russet potato you’re getting 12 to 14 teaspoons of sugar. Your body should never have more than about 4 g of sugar and sugars produced by your liver from protein it’s not some thing we should be eating and if you look at what your body does when you eat it with her to being a potato or a candy bar it releases hormones, it triggers your insulin it tells your body to store any fat in your system and it tells your cells to physically close up and shut down until what you eat and pass it is because it’s trying to defend your body from the damage it’s causing. People only look at it from a weight loss standpoint and the problem I found in the medical nutrition field is that people are very focused almost like a tunnel vision thing. They say you need magnesium so they look for food with magnesium and tell you to eat a bunch of it like potatoes. But potatoes are full of sugar and a lot of the magnesium in it is not very bio observable. The worst I think is bananas if you need potassium they tell you to eat bananas. You need 3640 600 mg of potassium every day one banana has about 118 and about 10% of that is bios your bubble see you looking at maybe 12 milligrams of potassium in a banana you’re gonna have to eat 50 or 60 bananas to give you enough potassium to make a difference well. So telling someone eat a banana because they need potassium is kind of silly. If you’re a vegan beans provide some good Protane but a pasteurized egg or some grass fed beef or some wild cut seafood has much better quality Protane that your body can actually absorb and process so why wouldn’t you eat a cleaner more by observing the form without a bunch of sugar in it when you have an option. Just like antioxidants they tell you to eat fruit to get antioxidants but you’re eating it with a bunch of sugar And then they try to justify eating fruit sugars saying that the fruit is full of an accident so it negates the oxidative stress of that sugar so you’re ending up at basically zero again best case scenario you’re not getting enough antioxidants to do much healing you’re getting a lot more sugar to cause more damage and it’s just really not worth it when you could eat broccoli or asparagus or an artichoke get more antioxidants without the sugar so you’re healing the oxidative stress without causing more from the food you’re eating to get the antioxidants in the first place. It’s not that they’re wrong the science is there it’s just they’re making really bad choices and things like eating oatmeal when you have heart issues. Oatmeal even if it’s organic it’s still going to have naturally occurring pesticides at the plant creates itself not man-made chemicals added to it it’s part of the plant is how the plant defend itself from being eaten by bugs and birds.

So when you eat it it lowers your cholesterol but it’s also causing inflammation which damages your cholesterol which is how you get small dense LDL see particles which is the only kind of treat heart disease healthy LDL cholesterol or large normal cell cholesterol is physically too large to get into the heart tissue and there is never been any clinical science that shows that healthy LDL cholesterol or undamaged LDL cholesterol contributes to heart disease in any way, it’s only the small dense particle LDL see that contributes to heart disease and eating the oatmeal will cause damage to the cholesterol which is what the small dense particles are there cholesterol that have been damaged by oxidative stress and toxic inflammation. You don’t have to worry about lowering your cholesterol if you make sure your cholesterol is healthy. That’s proven by carnivores. They have astronomical cholesterol levels 300 400 600 points yet to cure their heart disease and you don’t hear about bunch of carnivores developing heart disease you hear about them getting rid of it they lower their blood pressure they clear their plaque and their tissues so often they get rid of it. When you read the clinical data this is what it says when you read the summation presented by the people selling statins that information is kind of twisted as is the effectiveness of statins which person I think should be banned they’re horrible drugs they do massive amounts of damage it even best case scenario if they don’t do additional damage they do pretty much no good at all or some thing like a .4% improvement and they only called improvement because they’re measuring a drop in cholesterol but they’re measuring total cholesterol not small dense LDL see particles which are the only kind that contributes heart disease and if your cholesterol shoots up to 350 points but your small dense LDL see particles are below something like 26 you basically have zero risk of heart disease according to clinical data and the food manufactures tell you to eat heart smart oils like safflower sunflower and the other seed oils which are full of massive concentrates of inflammatory toxins and stay in your body as cholesterol and go rancid because they’re usually rancid by the time you buy them quite often but even if they’re not they stay in your body for about 600 days. Beef tallow will be fat stays in your body for a few days and it’s pretty much processed and refined end it is final form which is the measurable cholesterol or the lipid protein capsules that transport cholesterol in the blood and it’s healthy unless you’re eating inflammatory toxins and sugar. Not to mention from the knee standpoint the collagen‘s and cholesterol‘s or what feed your tissues and if you’re careful and you’re getting organic beef that hasn’t been screwed up with antibiotics and hormones you’re getting about the cleanest form of cholesterol you can from the grass fed beef from the pasture raised a gilts from wild cut seafood like salmon in these foods give you a good supply of the building blocks that your cartilage and heart tissues in your mucous tissues need it gives you the chemical platform used by your hormones. And I usually don’t eat a lot of chicken but the collagen in chicken skin and gristle is a very good form of collagen for tissue regeneration and another advantage if you eat chunks of the gristle which sounds kind of gross your auto immune responses target that instead of your own tissues, for some reason they like to target that and it kind of uses up your bodies natural inflammation process which if you’re having excessive inflammation is good to lower it but you also have to be careful because if you’re not eating foods that cause inflammation inflammation that your body is using your natural immune system is being used to heal those tissues so you don’t necessarily want to suppress all of it.

But if you’re eating beans for Protane you can send me massive amounts of sugar. They call it a starch but the differentiated in name based on how many molecules are in a chain if it has two or three or more molecules it’s a long chain sugar molecule and they call it starch the problem is when is your stomach acid it breaks into a single Molecule again which is chemically identical to white table sugar so when you eat a baked russet potato and don’t put anything on it you just need a warm potato of a medium size you’re literally getting the same chemical sugars that are in 12 to 14 teaspoons white table sugar and that’s a non-godly amount of oxidative stress and to call it health food or tell people they can get enough magnesium out of the potatoes to make that worthwhile is kind of silly to me when you could eat some thing like an almond or sunflower seeds or avocados which evermore by absorbable form of magnesium avocados have healthy fats that your body can absorb quickly and you’re getting them without the sugar so I don’t see a time when eating a potato is better unless you’re trying to pack on pounds before some sort of long fast or a time of famine but we don’t really have famine issues anymore so these survival type foods aren’t really necessary. They’re not the devil you can eat them but you just have to understand if you’re going to eat a baked potato you’re consuming a godly amount of sugar and you need to back off for a few days and let your body heal because you’ve done a lot of damage why not just eat some almonds or half of an avocado where you can get healthy fats amor by absorbable form of the magnesium and you can get it without all that sugar. I’m not saying we don’t need magnesium I’m just saying there are better forms than what doctors have been trying to tell us, I suffered from that magnesium deficiencies for a long time and Drs kept telling me to eat potatoes and eat bananas and I was eating potatoes and bananas and gained a ton of weight and my heart disease increased and I was still borderline deficient in magnesium so I studied the supplements to see which were safest and found that magnesium oxide was basically depleted and useless and started taking magnesium citrate and that worked to get rid of my magnesium deficiency‘s but I don’t want to take supplements when I can just switch foods so I eat avocados and leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables on a regular basis and that gives me plenty of magnesium and when you’re getting it from avocados and spinach you’re getting it without 12 to 14 teaspoons of sugar and you’re also providing pre-biotics for your beneficial bacteria and probiotics in your gut. No that’s the one exception I will eat some potatoes I’ll eat a couple slices raw because before you cook it potatoes have really good resistant starch as do heirloom style bananas which are very small green and very bitter kind of like a plantain but those in potatoes eaten raw have good resistant starches but even then you should eat them in very small doses whole cut maybe an eighth of a potato two or three thin slices and eat those raw just as a prebiotic. But I can’t find any scientific data that says this isn’t a better way to get those nutrients because you’re avoiding the sugars and starches the idea that the government gives us food pyramid saying we’re supposed to eat several hundred grams of starches every day I think it’s Ludacris it’s basically a recipe for type two diabetes which can be cured 100% of the time eliminate the grains the starches and the sugar and there’s no such thing as type two diabetes because it’s not a disease it’s just a condition created by eating toxins and sugars. It took me a long time to except this but the thing that pushed me overboard was understanding what your body does when you ingest sugar when you take a few bites of a baked potato or potato salad or eat a banana your body tells your cells to close up to physically stop functioning and reproducing and physically close themselves off and protect themselves And wait for what you’ve just eating to pass because it detects it as basically some thing dangerous. And the problem is when we keep eating these foods on a regular basis it still triggers those hormones storms but our bodies and cells start ignoring those hormone storms because they happen so often and that’s when you get massive amounts of damage that’s when you become addicted to sugar in a pair your liver function. People who get lightheaded and dizzy when they don’t eat get that way because their blood sugar drops. I don’t eat sugar at all and my blood sugar never drops because eating sugar all the time impairs your liver function it keeps it from being able to produce glucose in the blood as needed and it takes days to recover so when you’re eating the sugars all the time if you don’t eat for a few hours you start getting lightheaded and dizzy and you have to snack you get irritable you get excessively hungry and you get weak and shaky because your blood sugar levels drop. If you stop eating them long enough to restore your liver function you’ll never get low blood sugar again you can just stop eating for two or three days and your body will just burn fat and your liver will produce blood sugar instantaneously from protein and your body loves to live this way and when you’re doing that your signals are corrected and your body tells you what to eat if you’ve had enough salt you all of a sudden don’t like the taste of salt so you back off when you need salt you love the taste of salt and your cravings become functional when you’re constantly bombarding your body with insulin triggers and all these hormones are going crazy your body can’t communicate properly that’s why when you eat a bunch of rice and sugary sauce with Chinese food you’re absolutely stuffed by now or later your body screaming for more food and it’s not that your bodies hungry or malnourished it’s the fact that your body has had the hormone storm the triggered and told it to store all the fat and it’s trying to purge the sugars and food that you eat and your cells aren’t functioning properly because they’re told to close down to resist the erosion of the sugars and your communication signals are all off your body is detecting that you don’t have fat in your system and it makes you ravenously hungry. Are used to do this all the time I would eat a whole pizza and be so stuffed my stomach hurt but my body was craving food physically. That doesn’t happen anymore because I don’t trigger the hormones in excess I never have insulin spikes and even when I eat a full meal I release a small amount of insulin because I don’t include sugar in it and my body is able to process the fat and break that food down and absorb the nutrients instead of just pushing them out as waste. Then my cells can keep operating my body is satiated I don’t have nutrient deficiency so I don’t get physical cravings for foods it controls my taste process and on my body‘s had enough it tells me to stop.

If I try to eat something like a whole ribeye that 10 or 11 ounces Which is small but it’s a grass fed beef it’s usually smaller I might get through four or 5 ounces of it and my body says stop and I can’t force it on myself because eating becomes very unpleasant because your bodies telling you to stop you have zero craving left and The pleasure of eating goes away and the advantage to this is you kind of find a schedule that automatically puts you in the intermittent fasting which means your body ends up in a state of a Tofah G for several hours every day which is also good for your joints in your bones because that’s when your body does clean up and gets rid of the waste products of cell reproduction that’s when it puts the cell reproduction and healing into overdrive. And you can handle some sugar but as soon as you eat it your body stops healing and gets all confused and it takes days to recover from it. So if you have some mashed potatoes at Christmas dinner it’s not gonna kill you but it’s gonna throw your body off it’s gonna take a few days to recover from it. People who eat healthy on a regular basis go back and have bread or the beans and they really feel it their body makes them feel like crap especially from the bread and the toxins your body really notices the inflammation after it’s gotten used to not having it all the time. I’m that way now I can’t even eat keto bread because it still triggers my insulin and that doesn’t have the toxins in it and now that I’m a year out and I’ve lost 175 pounds I’m allowing myself to have a piece of fruit once in a while but I notice it when I do, if I have watermelon I feel different, I used to feel good when I eat watermelon now it’s something that taste good but I don’t eat a lot of it my body kind of stops me and I haven’t eaten bread yet but a lot of people say when they start eating bread again they really feel the inflammation pretty much instantly and it takes a couple days for that to go away. I believe them because I see it from a lot of people but I haven’t tried it myself and there will be a day when I eat pizza again but I’ll probably just have one or two slices and now I’m doing damage to my body and I’m going to suffer for a few days because of it And understanding all of this and learning to read the clinical data and seeing what these things actually do to your body makes it a lot easier to deal with the willpower. For months I was just craving pizza or fried potatoes and beans and corn but now I think about it and it’s just not as appealing and I just kind of learned to eat to give my body nutrients instead of using it as entertainment or eating for pleasure and it helps especially with the moderation but eliminating those foods helps because it corrects your bodies communication signaling and that keeps you from overheating and helps your body regulate itself. I think doctors get hung up on certain foods because they associate those foods with nutrients I think when you tell a doctor I don’t eat potatoes they freak out and assume you’re not getting magnesium and you’re causing harm to your body and I’m not saying don’t get those nutrients I’m just saying they’re better forms of food to eat them in And that is very sad that the medical establishment doesn’t recommend other foods. There are several foods with magnesium or potassium or any other vitamin that are better than what they recommend and some of the reasons they recommend food or tell you not to eat them or kind of ridiculous. And the saddest part is when I push Drs and sit down and discuss this with them when they are one of the few doctors that are humble enough to actually listen to someone and have a conversation instead of pontificate and commend them what to do with those doctors tell me is either that they don’t understand these things and they’re learning them or more often that they understand these things but That they’re manipulatively gauging how a person thinks and they tell you to eat potatoes to get magnesium because they don’t think you’ll go eat spinach or avocados and I figure it’s better for you to at least get the magnesium from the potatoes and correct your deficiency even if it causes damage and I don’t know if they mean that but it’s very common answer from doctors that actually take the time to listen and discuss something with you I want most of them just blow you off and ignore you because you don’t have a medical degree so they can’t fathom you possibly knowing what you talk about and it’s kind of sad because your average MD has about two hours of training around nutrition and I’m not a doctor and I’m not a genius but I’ve got probably close to 2000 hours. Yes they’re professionals yes they went to school learn the answers passed the test and got a degree but they can’t answer my questions most of the time because they just don’t know it doesn’t make them bad people that’s maybe not their specialty but it should be for every doctor the doctor sees patients and treats them for illnesses the doctors should know how to eliminate the cause of disease Which in most case is food-based. Not all of it some disease is physical deformation some is damage from physical injury or excessive wear and some is something broken in an organ or a gland and is chemical in nature but things like inflammation and oxidative stress contribute to the severity of even those diseases and should still be considered I see the worst of this in the realm of heart disease and I guess because I had heart disease and was on multiple medication‘s for it and had extremely high blood pressure and lots of calcified plaque and the doctors had me eating a fruit for antioxidants and oatmeal to block cholesterol and told me to avoid red meat And when I studied the science that was horrible advice and on top of it I explain to my doctors I’m not a salt junkie I didn’t eat a lot of processed food especially over the last 10 years and I was eating a lot of vegetables and organic foods and I eat very little salt but they still told me to cut back with you my case was detrimental because I was very low on my salt and didn’t have enough and salt is sodium and chloride which are two of your essential electrolytes or minerals that you need that’s how your body sends electrical impulses in your brain communicate with your organs and muscles another tissues. If you’re low on salt that communication is disrupted if you’re on magnesium and potassium sodium and or chloride do you have a problem because those minerals all work together and those are the communication system for your body they provide an electrically conductive fluid system in your body that your nerves use descend electric impulses which is how your body communicates with his self but every doctor that treats a heart patient tells them to cut back on salt they never ask how much salt you’re taking they never run a blood test to check your sodium levels they just assume everybody’s eating too much salt you back off. Dr should know better. What I wasted 2000 hours learning could be condensed into part of a semester class they could probably teach it in 20 hours but that would require the doctors now taking tenfold the amount of time to learn nutrition but if they did that they would heal about 80% more than patients because doctors who do that heal 80% of their patients instead of just prescribing drugs to keep them alive because they don’t illuminate the disease they just treat the symptoms. And their nutritional information is horrible telling you to eat bananas and apples and beans and potatoes to get nutrients is not good advice because all of those nutrients are available in other vegetables and in healthy meats and more by observable forms without the sugar and the toxins so even if you’re a vegetarian and there are better options and avocado and some spinach it’s going to always be better than potatoes or bananas or apples or peas or beans or legumes and even better than most seeds because you’re getting the same nutrients without the sugars and the toxins and that’s pretty simple and every doctor should be taught this. There are lots of other foods mushrooms, there are thousands of other different types of vegetables I use those examples because those are what I’ve chosen and I have zero nutritional deficiencies at all all of my nutrient levels when tested are optimal and I’m not deficient in a single one and eating this way has eliminated all of my disease and restored my liver and thyroid function and know my doctor Doesn’t necessarily agree with eating this way the results are clear he’s run the tests from a skeptical viewpoint and I have no nutritional deficiencies and I have no symptoms

At 60 and 61 after exhausting all these recommendations had both knees replaced. Did well post op; motivated patient. This condition doesn’t get any better. My friend put it off, her health has declined , now she is not a surgical candidate for replacement. She is now debilitated and cannot do much. So sad.

"High repetition, low stress exercise." I like what I'm hearing! Bikes!!! Yes!!! I listened to three orthopedic surgeons on public radio discussing knees several years ago. I was thrilled when all three said, "Bikes!" They all use bicycles for rehab as well as knee injury prevention and strengthening. I like to think that eight years of youth soccer were made injury free by cycling to and from soccer practice, in addition to a lot of miles on the bike on my own. And at 56 and riding lots, I'm still happy to say my knees have been injury-free so far. Knocks on wood, LOTS of wood! (A friend just told me: "Took a friend riding, 500 feet into the ride, friend loses control, goes over the bars and breaks a clavicle and wrist!") YIKES!!! So ride with care!

Hey Dude On Bike! Using a bike can be super helpful for improving knee health. So long as you can get your glutes to work during the exercise. If you feel you are using your quads more than your glutes while using the bike, then you will likely make your knee problem worse :-( But it sounds like you've been able to help yourself very well!!! Yes, riding outdoors has its own risks but there's always stationary bikes and bike trainers!

Excellent video & new sub - my Physiotherapist thankfully made me see the light about working my glutes and engaging them even while walking - HUGE difference to knee pain. I might add one thing that is a touchy subject to many - Do not carry around extra weight.

@skyg blue my physiotherapist gave me a set of exercises to do at home to learn to start engaging them. Once I mastered them so to speak, I worked on incorporating them while just standing, then while I was walking. I'll admit, it took a while to get it but honestly, it has made a big difference.

I really appreciate your work and insights into actions we can take to save our knees. Having said that, please don't recommend that people take anything "that can't hurt". First, most people take, and many "nutritionists" recommend, supplements as a means to cover up POOR DIETARY HABITS. There is NO shortcut to good nutrition. Second, with many many supplements, there can be serious negative nutritional and physiological interactions, some easy to predict, others much more difficult. Some nutrients have a wide tolerance for excess, others a very narrow one, and for many, many nutrients, an excess intake of a particular nutrient will negatively impact the bioavailability of another. Finally, 80+ % of "nutritional" supplements are simply useless. They provide no nutritional or physiological improvement, period. By the way, I am trained extensively in nutritional biochemistry and have consulted in animal and human nutrition for several decades, so I speak authoritatively to these issues.

Years ago, I was told bone on bone, double knee surgery recommended. I dropped ten pounds and knees feel much better.

Thanks a lot doctor - you seem like a real doctor who really cares about people. Thank you 🙏🏾 Water is super important. When I had severe knee pain, my homeopathic doctor asked me to up my water intake. I took water + pinch of cayenne + ACV with mother. My knee pain vanished in 2.5 months. Water is essential people! Don’t forget!

yes strong gluts are important but strong quads are also very important because weak quads cause the patella to drop down which causes pain. Exercise your quads and gluts by going upstairs backwards. Hold on to a railing to prevent falling.

Hey Andrew X!! Strong quads should only be pursued if you already have strong glutes and no knee problems. Training the quads to get stronger increases the pressure of the patella onto the femur and causes irritation of the knee cap cartilage or the femur cartilage. Working on quad strength while going upstairs backwards is not the best idea. After watching this o am most certain my knees are past all of these. My knee cap has not moved in 5 or 6 years. I have not been able to fully bend my knee or completely straighten my knees on a few years. I am bone on bone end stages. My knee issues started when I was 35 and I am now 62. The docs have screwed with me all of this time. I need knee replacements desperately. I did physical therapy a fee times. The last time I cried and cried because of the pain. The pt expected me to do things that were physically impossible. I left and never went back.

Your very helpful and great knowledge 👌 I have bone on bone hip torn hip labrum did prp injections 3 shots I do elliptical machine half squats light 25lb weight 100reps hip bridges 1 minute intervals 7 minutes ab& core routine along with push-ups supplements, moist heat & ice only tylenol lost weight 40lbs yes its still un comfortable stretch 1st thing in the am. It's a way of life to prevent hip replacement I don't want fake parts in my body.Thank you for your time knowledge mucho gracias amigo 🙏

I’m a hairstylist,I’m in Canada and will wait at least a year to see my surgery doc,I have arthritis in one because of an injury,I’m on my feet all day and today it was killing me ,so stretching is good?

I'm going to try these tips. One of my biggest problems is that I have a fallen arch...and a torn tendon somewhere...oh and torn meniscus.... None of which anyone has suggested any real treatment or repair of. Dispite this I keep fairly active. Its often a struggle. What would be your advise? They got nothing for me.

I drink my water all day long, flushing the system is no bother except when I’m out in the garden working and the birds are calling… Thank you for a beautiful video. People avoid TKR, at any cost! I had TKR 13 years ago and now it's worn out. You can only have 1 revision, and if that goes bad I am done. Listen to this amazing, beautiful and dedicated doctor.

Both my legs have started to bow out not in, since I have developed bad knees over the past 6 years. Taking Zilretta injections every 6 months. Tylenol for pain. Spend time in the pool, mostly walking. Going to work on my flutes like you said while I walk in the pool.

You're welcome Mary! Isn't the air walker similar to an elliptical machine? Those can be good if you use your glutes well during the exercise. Otherwise, if you use your quads a lot, it will likely make your hips worse. There are many vibrating massage machines out there. We've done reviews on some. Thank you for this vid, I’m 40 bone on bone, my surgeon said I need full knee replacement on both knees .I get gel shot every 5 months on my left knee is the worst, knee is shifting , my leg starting to look out of alignment. My job is mostly standing and walking and end of day am in a lot of pain , swollen stiff joints. I’ll take your advice and try to stay consistent .

40 is too young! How did it happen? Usually 60 or 70 year old people get that right? Or am I wrong? Please try this: 1. Warm water in a glass + a pinch of good quality cayenne pepper + ACV with mother + a spoon of honey - do this every day. First thing in the morning and last thing in the night. 2. Do fasting to reduce inflammation. 3. Overall increase your water intake and don’t let your body feel thirsty for long periods of time. Please try this 🙏🏾 I really wish you get better. You have a long life ahead and may that be a healthy one by God’s grace.

@@MsClrs Your right, my surgeon, said the same thing. I’m his only 40 yo patient needing complete replacement on both knees; I am doing gel shots, physical therapy, using creams, cold/hot compress, cause of my age, he doesn't want to do surgery; he said I am young and ill need to do it all over again in 8-10 years, currently am on physical therapy and gel shots...maybe it's genetic my grandmother both her knees were operated on, my mother has reumothiod arthritis and also has knee problems, Thank you for your advice, I will try to do this along with fasting. @@hluvv7607 there is nothing that cannot be healed by God. Stay positive dear sister. Try everything you can to reduce inflammation. Include good fat like Vedic ghee and Kerrygold butter. Try yoga and meditation. Don’t leave any stone unturned. I am sure you will become 100% healthy again. God bless you too 🙏🏾

I only take paracetamol because of allergies to other pain killers and it's not helping. Sciatica symptoms with numbness for years and now bursitis with bakers cyst in one knee I'm struggling just trying to walk. It's hard to walk without getting light-headed now.
