Thank you, Leslie. This is truly a beginner tutorial on the jump back/through. Thanks for breaking this down in a way that makes it accessible to me.

Hi, Lesley! I am sure you can come through with straight legs too. I don't think the length of the arms matters. You need to jump and lift your tale bone and hips higher into the air, and then hold that position for a very short period of time; then come through with bent or straight legs, hold the position and then 'land'. It looks like you rush into passing through. That is my goal - to build strenght to hold the hips in the air before coming through. You are very close to this. :) Thank you for the video. :)

Janette` Cool! Thank you so much...I'm going to try it! I was told that it had to do with body proportions and so I just didn't try! :-)

I have the long legs/short torso issue with the wide-legged forward folds. My head will NOT touch the floor. Haha. Not even close. Thanks, Lesley! Jumping through and back is a primary goal of mine right now, and this helps a lot.

Julie Wells Hi Julie! I have the same problem! Try to take your legs wider and when you fold forward, be sure to hinge from the hips instead of bending from the waist. I'm glad you liked the jumping through video!! Thank you so much for commenting! xx

Lesley, thank you for this helpful video. Now if you could just give me the strength to be able to do any of it!! Will I EVER get there? I cannot lift my feet from the ground when I raise up on my arms - even with the yoga blocks. Ugh! Would love to be so strong. Practice, practice. Thank you!

Hai mam, am your follower mam. I use your videos for my home practice . Mam am learning this ashtanga practice through your videos mam, why because in our city chennai we dont have ashtanga centers mam.Through videos iam doing the ashtanga , now I could bring balance in my pose. But in ashtanga we have to do vinyasa right, in that I couldn't do the jump throughs and jump backs. When I try much the next day I could feel pain at my shoulder joints. Mam why this is happening? am I doing it wrong or will it take still more time to get the perfection? Mam when I skip this jump throughs and jump back I feel that my practice is not complete mam, kindly give some solution for my confusion and pain at my shoulders mam, you are doing great job mam, your relaxed smile is always seen in all the videos mam, keep rocking mam.

SO hard :) Any recommendations on what to use when I don't have blocks?
@KG95514 жыл бұрын
If you have two big pretty equal-sized books, that will work too. If not, just try from the floor, you may not be able to do the movement all the way through for a while, but it will really help you train your core and arms to get the strength to lift your legs to your shoulders! Good luck ❤️

whew! jumping back and jumping through have become a regular part of my daily life the past couple of weeks :) I know I should above all be patient with myself, but I have a question just for good measure - I have watched so many tutorials on this and many say that I should practice lifting up and taking small steps through when I jump back, but I find that when I cross at the shins, the size of my hips/thighs actually prevents me from getting through. is is possible my legs are just too big for this? I am under the impression that my hands should be shoulders' distance apart as in a downward dog, but how can I get my legs through if my hips are wider than my shoulders? am I thinking about this the wrong way? oh, how I wish there were English speaking yoga teachers where I live... thanks for being my long-distance guru :)
@Fightmasteryoga8 жыл бұрын
+sara marie Thank you so much for your question. Everyone has difference proportions. If your hips aren't fitting through your width of your arms, take your arms wider. It will make it a but more challenging because you'll be lower to the ground to begin, but I usually take my arms wider than my hips too, and it works fin with blocks. I have a really difficult time jumping back without blocks, though! I'm honored to be your long-distance teacher! xx
