Nice to see my all time favorite band Deep Purple kicking things off. IMO although Machine Head is the big seller I would go with “In Rock” as their best and most influential. Never get sick of hearing Some Girls. The album holds up really well too compared to other bands and music from the period. That to me has always been one of the marks of a great, timeless album. nice list BUT the Doors DID have several BASS players (although they usually were not official members of the band and only played on the studio albums)... Ray Manzarek played the bass tracks on keyboard bass before they went into the studio to record their first album but 3 of the 11 songs on the first album contained bass guitar... Wrecking Crew member Larry Knechtel played bass on 'Soul Kitchen' and 'Light My Fire' and Doors guitarist Robby Krieger played bass on 'Back Door Man'. Doug Lubahn played bass on every song the 2nd album, 'Strange Days' and was asked to join the band officially by producer Paul Rothchild and the members of the Doors but declined because he was already in his own band, Clear Light. Doug also played bass and most of the 3rd album, 'Waiting for the Sun' (which also featured Kerry Magness on bass on 'The Unknown Soldier' and Leroy Vinnegar played acoustic bass on 'Spanish Caravan') and most of the 4th album, 'The Soft Parade' along with Harvey Brooks. Ray Neapolitan and Lonnie Mack played bass on their 5th album 'Morrison Hotel' and Jerry Scheff played bass on their 6th album 'L.A. Woman'. Scheff's son Jason replaced Peter Cetera on Bass and Vocals in the band Chicago after Peter left the band to go on his solo career.

Hi Lucas, I’d get behind the Kiss album Unmasked. That’s a great underrated album.
@lucasbeer3533 жыл бұрын
@@spaghetti.lee-69 I love Alex Lifeson's guitar sound on that album. He used Gallien Krueger 250 ML amps and Roland reverb. Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden used the same amps and effects on Somewhere in Time album. Even the solos are similar.
@lucasbeer3533 жыл бұрын
@@BrendonSnyder That album was ahead of its time. Same as Dynasty actually. Some songs got those rich minor chords very characteristic for bands like Dokken or Ratt a few years later.

I'm a bit surprised that you've touched on 2 VH records and have yet to mention any of the first 4, especially the debut.
@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
Why? I covered the David Lee Roth era and the Sammy Hagar era. It can’t only be VH in the list! Haha
@kitoyobeni13 жыл бұрын
@@BrendonSnyder Of course, I just find the debut to be the most iconic by a vast margin. To each his own though.

I can totally see that. I just went with the first VH album I ever bought which was 1984. But it’s all subjective.

@@BrendonSnyder 1984 was my first VH too.

Apparently people buy Led Zeppelin 4 like a single - Stairway to Heaven with 7 B-sides! Purple should've done the same with Machine Head / Smoke on the Water, but they didn't realize its significance and put it out as a single. Whitesnake (1987) is their best overall. The first time I heard Still of the Night I was staggered by its excellence.
@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
Well for years there was not a Led Zeppelin best of album either so the only way to get it was on IV. AC/DC has been smart not to release a greatest hits which makes Back In Black sell more.

Well despite them being famous they’re still really good albums for people who are fans of the band and style of music.

This old music is excellent but old, it's been beat to death, the Western world has forgotten how to make great music like this, what's dropping now is pure garbage, if you want great executions and superior talent I suggest you turn towards Japan for hard driving well executed rock.
@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
Dexter just because something is “old” doesn’t make is any less good. The albums on this list are ground breaking influential albums. That cannot be said about the music coming out of Japan. And I didn’t mention new artists of today because I don’t think they can stand up to the classics from before.
