An often overlooked Tokyo specialty is Monjayaki... a cousin to okonomiyaki but with the consistency similar to melted cheese. Ingredients include cabbage, carrots, vegetables, meat, fish, shrimp, mochi, cheese, etc. It's not as easy to find as okonomiyaki, but in my opinion is even more delicious!
@TabiEats6 жыл бұрын
So interesting that you enjoy monjayaki. We are thinking of making a video of a monjayaki restaurant sometime this year because not many people know about it.

Just recently became a fan :) OMG I miss the food in Japan...we are going in October. First time to travel in Autumn! Can't wait!!!! I would like to know if you ever go to Dotour...I love the Mont Blanc there...I have to have this every time I go there. I also love Cozy Corner choux cream. My fave sushi is natto and crab 'miso'. I am drooling now... Also a family tradition, we always go to Wako for tonkatsu in Matsudo the first day we arrive in Japan. I miss the convenience store food. I can't believe how bad & expensive it is outside of Japan :(

Hi, guys. I'm a fairly recent subscriber to your channel; it was a fortuitous accident when I stumbled upon it & I am so glad I did. I've always been interested in Japan, both current and ancient. I'd love to visit one day, although that's not very likely, & while I've only had a few opportunities to eat Japanese food, what I've had I've enjoyed very much. I am slowly making my way through your previous vids & watching your current ones at the same time & enjoying them all. I do have a non-food-related question, though, for Satoshi. I was watching one of your current vids the other day & noticed that you resemble (at least to me) a young Toshiro Mifune. I was wondering if anyone else ever mentioned this? I don't think this is my imaginations (maybe it is?) Regardless, I enjoy all your vids and look forward to seeing more of them. Thank you both for all the hard work you put into them for us - they are wonderful.

I ate all of these 10, my 2 visits to Tokyo in 2001. I ate the best food of my life, and then some! I’m not a huge sushi fan, but enjoy sashimi quite a bit. My husband wanted to take the CoCo Curry challenge, and get the biggest, hottest plate of curry they sold! He ended up failing big-time on it, but it was a great memory for us! I regret not eating a few things, I wish I had the courage to back when I was there. I wished I’d tried whale at least once; and we sat down at a little grill/bar that opened up at 4pm, to 12 midnight. They only served pig intestines! It smelled so good, but I wimped out. Japan has the best food, and I’m hoping to go back someday soon.Idatakimasu! 🍜🍱🍚🍡

One dish I didn't see in your list can must absolutely recommend to anyone able to get their hands on it is Kobe beef! I would really like to try melon pan. It's such a strange combination to me, so I want to try it! Me and my mother sit and drool over videos like these. She's an amazing cook who's made me and my father many Japanese dishes, like ramen, okonomiyaki and tonkatsu. But all 3 of us dream of the Japan-made foods. Especially tempura and sushi.

Dreamlicker you know (most) melon pan doesn't taste like melon? It just 'looks like' melon. I thought I'd clarify in case you didn't know because I'm surprised most people don't explain this and I didn't know for ages 😄❤
