The extra-long delay moments after the toast left the camera led me to immediately imagine that you were slain by the peanut butter marmite. I've been told that peanut butter by itself is often considered a taste that needs to be acquired for people who didn't grow up with it, and I imagine that marmite only adds insult to that injury.

@Paradoxical enigma I haven't tried marmite by itself. but here in singapore, they have food stalls (zi char) that sells a marmite meat dish. they use meat like pork/small pork ribs/chicken with a light batter and fry it then they coat it with a sauce they make from marmite. it turns out to be quite delicious.

Didn't think Woolworths would export their food. For folks outside of Australia, Woolworths is a big supermarket chain that also sells its own brand of food at a lower price.
@garnetmage42442 жыл бұрын
Really! Years and years and years ago, growing up in the US, Woolworths was a well known chain of stores in the East Coast... might have been more regions, or national but I only had experience with them in the Mid-Atlantic and New York, so... They were "five and dime" stores. Sort of a cross between today's dollar stores, or your equivalent, and a tiny version of a big box store. Whether you wanted some shoe polish, or a jigsaw puzzle or a new sweater or a parakeet or a candy bar, you could find it at Woolworths. To a kid, there were always treasures to discover. I don't remember the last time I saw, or thought of a Woolworths. Interesting to know that the name shows up across continents... wonder if there's any actual connection, or just coincidence? Maybe I'll try Google, or maybe just enjoy a memory from my childhood. Thanks for making the comment that brought up the memory.
