Guy swiped my car, illegal lane change. When we pulled over to swap insurance, he asked why I entered his lane. I said I didn't, he said I did. I said "okay let's swap insurance" cause arguing would not have done anything but escalate, and I learned from these videos to just back down. Don't be tough when unnecessary. I could tell he was trying to be tough. My insurance ended up telling him to "F" off once they saw the dash cam footage I didn't tell him I had.

Absolutely correct. The whole world problems can be condensed into only 2 reasons … ignorance or arrogance! The difference between the two is I don’t know VS. …I don’t care. Ignorance means - I don’t know I can be taught. Arrogance is ego, and usually leads to unnecessary, confrontation. Energy that can be used on a solution is wasted on conflict.

Generally it comes down to a few factors, outside of them most fights will never happen. Alcohol, ego, pride, fear. As a guy who stupidly got into alot of altercations over the years. My tips. Stay out of bars/clubs, look physically in shape/imposing, have a good stance, and most importantly. When your opponent is getting emotionally charged, act unaffected. Your goal should be to show your opponent you been down this road before, and you picked the wrong one.

Thanks for the helpful videos. In Germany, in order to be allowed to work as a recognized security employee, we have to take a written and oral exam before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Before that, a course of at least 3 months must be attended with the topics of fundamental rights, criminal and civil law, commercial law, weapons law, safety technology, occupational safety and accident prevention, as well as dealing with people. This also includes psychology, communication, de-escalation, group- and individual behavior of people and danger recognition. Your channel responds very well to this topic and I am happy to have found it. Keep it up!

You hit on many good points/situations. One of the things I have begun to practice is to keep my distance from people. If someone gets too close (beyond my own comfort zone) I step away. This is to give them a hint. It is absolutely astounding to me how many people out there cannot understand the courtesy of giving people space. Even with men. I mean, as a man you should instinctively know how to keep a safe distance from another man you don’t know. And talking *aside from being in a cramped space* I give people the courtesy to NOT stand so close. And beyond me why anyone may get to close to a stranger. Hint: I. Don’t. Know. You. Keep your distance from me 👍

To me, it's always been shocking how few people have ANY conception of personal space. Many people not only think nothing of being crowded or touched, but seem to actually INVITE this sort of thing by taking up as much space as possible, as a way of forcing people around them to pay attention. This is often a matter of social class, I find, being common among the very poor (incl. the homeless) or (if you'll excuse me) by some gay men, among others. I've even known people of both genders who will accidentally bump into you as a pretext to flirting. Why do I notice this, you ask? Why does it bug me so badly? It;'s because I have autism spectrum disorder with some SERIOUS personal-space issues, the type that psychologists call, "hypervigilance." You can rarely do anything but set me off if you crowd me, block me, or touch without permission.
@quesoblanco4444 ай бұрын
Very good point about personal space. Too many times I have been challenged when walking through crowded or cramped areas. Always because I walked in front of someone, and they got triggered. The last two times, I just kept moving through the crowd, and they gave up pursuing. But I could hear them yelling at me in the background.

Particularly good, insightful (ha, and 'inciteful') video. It's almost always best to nip a potential incident in the bud from the start, short-circuiting it by ignoring--as circumstances allow--rather than mirroring back, that first sign of tension, and simply moving on with your day (while taking care to 'mind your 6' ).
@501photo4 ай бұрын
FWIW, IMO, your videos are excellent and thoughtfully produced. The bullet points are very helpful; concise and easy to understand, they explan how simple gestures can easily escalate into violence. I also value how you present the video clips. There's enough info to illustrate cause and effect without showing any gratuitous violence. Kudos.

my great uncle Charlie was a Green Beret in Vietnam (5th Special Forces Group), he earned a Bronze Star and was wounded (Purple Heart), and he's the calmest, most peaceful person i've ever met. he hates fighting and will walk away from anyone or anything, though he's elderly now he's still very fit and could probably toss most people over the fence by their neck, if he really wanted to. he's a laconic guy, which means he doesn't speak in lengthy dialogues; he speaks in short. some things he often says: "only idiots get into fights." "dumbass guys pick fights to impress dumbass women." "legs are your best weapon, use them to walk away." "i'm through with fighting in my life." "walk away. in 10 minutes he won't remember what you look like." "i've never been in a fight i didn't regret." "just keep walking. most people won't follow you." "all fighting hurts." "most people don't want to fight, but they're scared of backing down and losing face once they start it. offer to compromise so you'll both walk away without fighting, and you'll be amazed how many people are relieved when they hear that."

A lot of it is actually triggered by insecurities. You even left some of the most common ones out! -at least those that I've noticed... You talk with someone about another person and a stranger feels like the butt of the joke... You ask a stranger for directions, and her BF goes full paranoid... Any accidental eye-contact, touch, or pointing... (as mentioned) Not clearing the way fast enough. I've seen people getting pushed or kicked on stairs for it! Moreover, I've nearly been hit by a car, despite having a green light, but the guy didn't want to slow down for me but hit the gas pedal... Obviously, any time you take a parking lot faster than someone else, or two people try to enqueue for the same thing, one loses and sometimes, he also loses his temper... Most of them are typically male aggression, but I have to say that sometimes women can go nuts too and the worst I've seen wasn't about accidental touch, but about a person showing his affection and she becoming offended. It seems to be a combination of repulsion and the fear that others noticing that someone way beneath her is potentially courting her would damage her reputation. So, a no is not the worst you might get as a man... far from it!
