Beware of the person with a “built-in” excuse for selective memory. I dated someone who had bumped her head and needed stitches. My husband was the king of bare minimum. I used to put a lot of thought into what I gave him, but as the years went by I started to care less and less because he put almost no care into my gifts. He did the bare minimum all around, just enough to not be found out, but 5 years in, I had already figured it out. It just took me another 5 to get things together and leave. He is a huge liar too. I am 6 weeks out of the relationship now, and 2 months away from completing my master’s degree! I have worked hard to leave this man, this horribly unkind, selfish, lazy, lying, manipulative man.

😂😂 that’s so true! He was in east coast took care of his mom. I was in west coast took care of the house and pet….As soon as his mom passed he went online “zoosk” found 65 yo grandma😂. I confronted him first he said “I don’t love her, she loves me, what a liar!!! Later on, it was my fault because I don’t love him. A month later grandma “that they met in Zoosk” climbed in the same bed in west cost, that was my bed. I was discarded, I was in pain, anxiety, grief, insomnia for months. Now I am over it, they deserve each other. I am looking for a happy life ahead of me

Yes. This is so insane, my mom is a narcissist and I only for some reason labeled my mom as a narcissist, and never put the pieces together that my husband is one until 5 years into the relationship. It’s the “you’re a last minute thought, so here’s your last minute gift that I resent giving to you, I will never have your back, but if you don’t have mine then I hate you, you’re my servant but will do as little as possible for you, I will be mad if you go out of your way to be thoughtful for me on holidays because it points out how unthoughtful I am, and now I have to do something for you!” Those things hit so close to home, I had to swallow back tears.

My ex-hubby told me before he left, after I complained of him hitting me was YOUR MOTHER USED TO HIT YOU. omg 😳 I was 60 year old, and yes my mom was a narcissist and did hit me but stopped when I was a teenager. He also tried saying I wanted a father for my 4 children, which I did, and I told him it didn’t have to be you. He left soon after stealing our joint checking and saving. All 10 signs are 💯 accurate. I do think that sometimes you need lots of examples because there are lots of variations and if you have grown up with narcissists you may call what she is talking about by other words or have different descriptors. And it takes a lot of time to be able to identify covert narcissists who are especially adept with their skills, yes at narcissism tactics, but even more at being more covert than the person before them.

Dang. My mom would tell everyone in my family of an event coming up except me, who she’d mention it to offhand the night before. She knows I like to know a few days ahead or I get really stressed out. The amount of times I’ve heard “oh you didn’t know about x?” Then when I got a bit stressed and annoyed, it was all just an innocent mistake and I could have looked at the calendar where it was written down. Again, everyone would be told except me. I always wondered if I was crazy and making a big deal out of nothing. Your explanation of this made me cry. It’s nice to know I’m not crazy, but wow, that sucks.

Unfortunately I’m having issues with the property manager that is a covert narcissist they cost me a six-figure job modified emails I even warned them I’m a systems engineer I know how to track an email they do it anyway and I’m left in a bad position right now but I have my head up trying to work with these people leaves you physically and mentally drained by the end of the day

Our term in psychology for someone you have to pick up the slack for is a "social loafer". I had identified my sister as that early on. I thought she just needed help with her homework from my brother all the time because she really wanted to understand the material. I did not know my brother was doing her homework. She has a fancy job with a "Lexus" car, and I thought she must have really gotten her act together, but now i remember that in corporations there are a LOT of social loafers who let their "underlings" do it or it goes not done at all and the "underlings" get the blame. Narcs get their status increased for new positions by "butt kissing" and "begging" and "demanding they are better". Now it all makes sense. She could never make it on her own because SHE NEVER DOES ANYTHING! This is real awareness for me. Thank you very much!

I’ve been dealing with this. I’ve recently been diagnosed as codependent. I’m in therapy and making progress. This woman I believe is a covert. When I quit tolerating one behavior she morphs and changes. I straight up set boundaries and told her I do not want a physical relationship without a commitment. She’s on board, until we plan something. Anything. Even a day of watching Christmas movies. Wishing two days, suddenly her ex is at her house for three days. “We are not together. And I’m not with my ex either.” I asked her nicely leave me alone. I told her very angrily to leave me alone using adjectives I thought would make her mad. She still slipped in bed. So last night it hit me finally. Why am I mad at her? I’m the one who keeps letting her in. Now I’m fighting the urge for payback. I already made her ex aware of what was going on. But I just want to let go. Going online to find a group or meeting or something for when I get lonely. This will be a long journey for me. I’m already exhausted

She has continued going above my consent with a broker to change investments with out my consent or required signature. She says Im the bully when I want to know answers to questions about investments. Completely dismisses me as if I dont exist or have legal rights. We had just discussed my opinion being against annuities, in Oct. I just discovered she did it again! Went over my head .. and invested in something I didnt approve. Ive had enough. I called my ex narcissist out on all of the hurtful things he’s done to hurt me. And why I am done. He never hesitated to say what he didn’t like about me, hurtful stuff as silly as saying I don’t look as attractive as I do in pictures, ouch. Blame shifting, I am crazy due to reactive abuse when I finally couldn’t take it anymore and now he says I am the narcissist! A little background, in September I sold all of my furniture, rehomed pets, because he lovebombed me and said he wanted me to move 800 miles to live with him. In less than 12 hours after getting there he changed his mind and left me homeless. He says it’s all my fault from things preasking me to move in, that he said all of a sudden hit him. He said me losing everything is my fault because I disrespect him. FYI I would stay silent for hours as he would go in a rage with him belittling me, criticizing everything about me, and when I finally give him my truth I am mean, and was blocked across the board. I don’t get these people, I said he refused to acknowledge any wrong doings, and he sits back and thinks he is perfect. A few months before breaking up I thought I had cancer for a 3rd time, and had to go in for biopsies etc. the night before he caused an argument and then I didn’t hear from him for 2 weeks, he didn’t even reach out to see what my results were, luckily I was okay but if the cancer came back I would’ve been dealing for the initial 2 weeks alone. When I remind him of that, he said that I shouldn’t be such a f*ck up, my attitude is why he didn’t check up on me. And since our break up all he did was say how I destroyed his life. Amazing. I hope he doesn’t unblock me, because whether I block him or not he finds a way to get in touch with me! Gotta love modern technology! Anyway wanted to share a quarter of my 10 month relationship. Don’t expect any of it to make sense because it never will. And I am left with nothing but a broken heart.

It's after Valentine's Day. He just got around to sending her a card.... Well it's after V day now. I call it where he throws us "bread crumbs". It's frustrating. My Narc is a business aquaintence I am forced to brush elbows with at a once monthly meeting. A habitual liar, mainly by omission, a loud mouth, self centered bigot. When pulled up over the obvious lies and misinformation, doesn't deny the lies but accuses the accuser of having a deep seated vendetta against her. My wife I think is a narcissist. I think she has already cheated on me. Mine would shout abuse, kick me out, disappear for weeks than come back pretend nothing happened and blame me till I stood up for myslef and blosked him everywhere. He is back again hovering from foreigh number - blocked. Called him and recorded all conversation of gaslighting, denying and reflecting and trying to make out what a horrible person I am. I am so healed now I was unphased and told him he has been recorded and blocked back. Now he will go and do revenge cheating with a girl he has already been cheating with and she could be his daughter 21 years his junior. Good luck to them. He is getting Staurn enter his 8th house and his second Saturn return is due. The universe will teach him all the lessons he needs to learn. But one thing for sure I am staying well away from his toxic ass. All this has been foretold in tarot readings and this girl will destroy him. She is one nasty jealous insecure narcissistic thing - perfect for a narcissist.
