Every golfer should listen to this. I have been watching Matt's videos for a few months and what a difference it is making. Especially the stuff about expectations and knowing and accepting your game. Also what he says about A game, C/D game etc. I went on an annual golf trip with my friends this weekend and we played 8 rounds in 4 days. I shot on average 10 shots per round better than last because I adopted the way of the playa. I did not get annoyed about any bad shots....I'm supposed to hit bad shots right, this is a hobby. I did not count score either. On the hardest course, slope rating 150, I shot 26 shots better thanks year!! Even wore 2 of Matt's Waddaplaya polo shirts... Friends now calling me the Zen golfer.....lol. Thanks Matt.

Understanding how PGA tour golf actually looks outside the highlight reels has made it so much easier for me to enjoy my 19 hcp game and lower expectations. Just telling myself that two putting from 10 feet is literally "tour level golf" makes it so much more relaxing to miss the first putt, and much more fun to sink one from 15 feet. Same thing with hitting the green from 100 yards.
@tedzink45743 жыл бұрын
The video from awhile back with the PGA tour stats was enlightening, we don't need to place those highlight reel expectations upon ourselves. If you practice the short game and your favorite clubs, the highlight reel shots will just show up for all of us at some point. And your buddies are amazed when they do.

Thanks Matt, my prior rounds were 70 72 70 69 73 67 70 75, and after watching this video this morning shot an 81 today. I've been telling people this for years, your best golf never lasts as long as you wish it would, and your worst golf will go away eventually if you keep playing. The guys you see on TV practice 50 hours a week or more, they are supposed to play great, and even with that sometimes they don't. I was so happy at the conclusion of my round today, when asked why I played so bad, instead of saying that same thing, today I just said "Matt said I would".🤣😂🤣😂 Love ya baby! Played today and it finally came together Shot 80 off a 13 Handicap Where it happened for me was following Playa in Chiefs advice and working hard on my game from 120metres inwards I have been spending 4 to 5 hours a week practicing putting and although the putting was getting better I wasn't dropping putts Today 29 putts for the round as I sunk a couple of putts The short game has been ok but not getting enough up n down. Today I got up and down on 5 holes Where I did well was nail shots from 70 to 120 yards and in onto the green on 6 occasions from 6 attempts To be honest my tee shots and approach irons were ok but not great I only hit 5 greens in regulation and 6 out of 12 Fairways I still got room for improvement as my 80 included a triple bogey and a double bogey in there All I can say is wanting to get to single figures handicap the process is there Practice putting n chipping and wedges like crazy Way of the Playa

Just played a round where I consistently played away from danger and I hit almost every green and 9 fairways. Needed a few longer irons than usual, but with big greens that just puts the pressure on putting which clearly is my weakness. Thank you playa!

I just played my first 18 holes last week. The first nine, I had my head right. I had no expectations other than just enjoying being able to play. My attitude was, I’m going to do my best with each situation and see what happens - like I was watching someone else play. I actually parred the last two holes! The second nine, I started thinking I could do better, which was ridiculous. I played terrible. I sliced and diced, zigzagging my way down all but two fairways, over shooting the greens, chipping to the left, right, but never onto the green, three, four, five, six putting. By the time I finished the last hole, I was disgusted, full of anger, doing everything I could to hold back the rage - I really needed to break something. That is not why I started playing golf. I started with the first nine attitude in mind, just to enjoy the blessing of being able to be out there. After all that, I was surprised to find that there was only a two stroke difference between the first and last nine, but a 180 degrees difference in attitude and enjoyment.

I have been watching your videos for more than a few years now. At first I just enjoyed how relaxed you were and your approach to playing. I wasn't able to implement that at the time because I just couldn't relax and have fun. I was either playing to win and putting an astounding amount of undue pressure on my self and my game suffered. So I'd get upset and my game suffered more and the cycle continued. Before I went out for the first time last season I said I don't care how I play. Everything I'd been watching on your videos just made sense and I just went out to have a good time. Just accept each shot for what it is and enjoy myself. It is the most fun I've had playing golf since the first year I played. Consequently I played the best golf of my life. It was an entire summer of A B game for me. A few C's but I had so much fun no matter how I played. I went out yesterday for the first time this year before my company league starts Monday. This is the first time we've had a golf league, which is exciting. I actually suggested it mostly because I had so much fun last year and I thought it would be good for everyone involved. Yesterday's round was the worst I've played since the time I picked up clubs. I was back to my old habits, didn't have fun and played terrible. I came home and searched for your channel, watched this video and it all makes sense now. Anyway, thanks for what you do and please keep it up.

Matt, great Video. I love the doodling apology. I broke my shoulder and lost a lot of distance and still don’t have all the mobility back. So last week, I started hitting my driver ad hard as I could and really had no idea where the ball was going, on top of that because I could not move my shoulder, I strained a muscle in my back and was in pain for a few days. I decided playing that way was stupid and took my driver out of my bag and am hitting 3 wood off the tee. I was shocked at how well I could control my 3 wood and I only missed 1 fairway on each of the two rounds. The last two rounds have been the most stress free rounds of golf I’ve played in years. I don’t get on the tee and worry about misses. On top of that putting much less stress on my body because 3 wood is much lighter and easier to swing. I even had an eagle (hole out from 100 yards) today. Keep up the good work. I love your VLOGS.
