Can I ask you about the push up drill with chin touching ball , is this purely a strenght exercise only or does coordination come into it ? I would like to be able to explain to my classes why exactly we do this. Thank you
@athleticengine2 жыл бұрын
It’s more or less a basic strength exercise turned into a task with a specific intent so that the athlete focuses on the intent/action of touching the chin to the ball rather than just performing a push-up/burpee, which is just an arbitrary movement. This way the athlete will tend to move a bit more naturally because they’re focus is on the task rather than just doing an exercise with no clear intent. As much as possible I try to give cues/tasks that provoke the movement/pattern rather than teaching a pattern. For example, nobody teaches a baby what walking is. They are simply trying to get from here to there and figure it out. At most they see someone else do it and try to mimic what they see (which would be like watching the video demo of the movement). Hope this helps.
