They run into a Pinto with a Cadillac and say look at the damage, i seen a Impala that was hit by a Kenworth there was nothing left of the car or the occupants, the driver of the truck was not injured. What do you expect when you run into a 2000 pound car with a 6000-pound car.

I had a 69 Chevy that got the motor mount recall. I thought GM would replace the motor mounts. Instead the dealer installed a couple of cables that would keep the engine from falling out if the motor mounts failed. I remember NBC rigging GM pickup trucks with incendiary devices to explode on impact. I had a Pontiac with the faulty Takata air bags. It was recalled twice for the airbags. The first time they replaced the airbag with an identical airbag. The second time they installed a different airbag.

Chevy Cobalt/Suzuki Forenza: faulty airbag sensors, won't deploy in some frontal crashes. Ford Pinto/Mercury Bobcat: Weak A-pillars caused extreme crushing in roll overs. Jeep Wrangler: Same issue as Audi, accelerator and brake pedal too close together. Warned to not "heel and toe", remove foor totally from accelerator when braking. Pontiac Fiero: Literally.

In the segment on Chev motor mounts it says that it applied stress on the throttle body. Those cars did not have throttle bodies. The mount failure could (at full throttle) cause the throttle linkage to jam up.

GM Was the worst they had major Problems, they managed to hide, the Chevy and GM Squair body Pickups were deadly in a Side collision. With the gas tank on the outside of the Frame in a side collision the tank would split open, occupants of both vehicles would burn to death. more than twice as many people Died in the Chevy pickups, than the ones that died in the Ford Pinto. GM never ever did anything to fix it, The Truck was sold from 1973 to 89 with no cure for the fire problem. GM settled all Cases out of Court, with a silence clause in the settlement.

It's funny, but so clear to me now, the Ford Exploder tire is too tall on the sidewall. Just look at the photos on this video of the tire. It's way too tall for what is a car already on high heels. I think they - Ford and Firestone - are both to blame for what is obvious, a bad fit for the car.

As a Cobalt SS owner for 18 years, I can say from personal experience that thee was no problem whatsoever with the ignition switch. NHTS claimed that a heavy keyring could cause the key to turn to the off position, but that just isn't possible. And as for driveability with the engine off, the power brake system holds enough vacuum for 3-4 brake applications before losing assist. Yes, power steering goes away, but at anything above parking lot speeds that isn't a factor. Remember that 50 years ago, power steering was optional in cars weighing two or more times what a compact Cobalt weighs. I regularly turn off the engine while driving to save fuel, and I have never had a problem doing so. On another topic touched upon in this video, GM was blamed for the Chrysler/Desoto/Imperial Airflows demise. Actually it was the car's unusual design. The public just wasn't ready for a car that took aerodynamics into consideration to the extent of the Airflow. It was just too radical. When Chrysler moved away from Airflow's advanced styling, even while maintaining many of the other advancements, sles rebounded. For instance, all DeSotos from 1934 through 1936 were Airflows, and their standing in the sales race plummeted. In 1937, they dropped that styling for the much more conventional-looking Airflite design, and sales more than doubled. It was the car's unconventional styling that caused the car's abysmal sales and nothing else.
