Hey Amina, just wanted to let you know I started transitioning 2 years ago and you were the first person I watched on youtube. I have virgin hair now and honestly it was the worth the hardship. All the girls going through it right now know that you are beautiful regardless and have some patience because it's so worth it. Thank you for your constant support Amina

Well this was right one time, I accidentally fell into transitioning! lol Corona kept me from making my perm appointment and I haven't had one since the beginning of February, so I just hit the 3 month mark. I watched your series for each stage of transitioning and loved it, you really broke everything down! I look forward to joining the FB group and picking up more tips as I see where this journey takes me!!

Like yourself, I'm 3 wks in. But, I've not had relaxer on top for 3 yrs, only on the sides and nape. I see a lit of breakage on too from sewing in hair. It's fine hair and soft, which is much like my natural hair prior to chemicals and hair weave.

I'm in the process of transitioning to natural hair, but heres the thing my mom is sooo against it she always wants my hair to be straight and relaxed and whenever I try to even bring up the subject she gets extremely frustrated and refuses to even listen to me... Yesterday I got a big chop and she still doesn't know cause I have it in braids so it's not really noticeable. I know that if she finds out she might disown me and I'm under alot of emotional stress cause I'm dealing with other situations in my life.... I plan on keeping it a secret until my curls are popping enough then I'll show her even though I know the outcome might not be that great but being in this community I just feel loved and I feel like myself so I just want to say that to any curly headed queen out there what ever you say to support really does help!! I love yall so much ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Thank you so much for your videos. They are super helpful. I am a mixed (Nigerian & German) women who was adopted at a young age by white parents. I never learned how to take care of my hair and since I was 7 I got it Japanese straightend so my mother and I could manage it. I am now 24 . After years of constant damage around 22 I stopped going every 6 months to get it done. Slowly my hair has grown back. I'm not really sure of what stage of "transition" I am in because when my hair was growing in I did not take care of it properly but I have about 2 years of natural growth without perm (chopped all straight hair off). I know this may sound stupid but I am also learning how to brush my hair and basics of caring for my "type" of hair. Trying to get all the information is very overwhelming. Thanks you again for helping women just like me.

Thank you. I am mixed and have the same hair type. I have visited several channels and no one provided the information you mentioned earlier in your video (your hair wouldn’t curl immediately) . It has been 6 months since I stopped putting relaxers in my hair. I just recently cut my hair to my shoulder. I will continue to take your advice. I am also trying the perm rods you mentioned in that video

One day I was thinking 🤔 When will I go back Natural, because I’m getting older. I knew I wasn’t going to continue getting a relaxer. So weeks after that thought , here comes the stay at home order. So now my natural hair journey begins. I’m ok with it , I know how to braid, French braid , two strand twist, and single twist my hair. So I’m ok with that. I’ve been watching hair tutorials for weeks now, I think I’m addicted 🤪. But they are sooo informative. I didn’t know their were so many products on the market for Natural hair. The last time I was natural I was using the pressing comb. I might be telling my age but it’s Kool , I’m proud to say I’m 54. So I’m excited to be on this hair journey with the Natural Hair Family. 😁

I come from the middle east..Yemen in particular and i am surrounded by ppl who have good silky long hair.. mine is coming from an ancient grandparents but ppl and hairdressers here don't know nothing about dealing with my type of hair which is frustrating.. i spend nights alone crying and js asking why.. i feel so lonely.. Hair is js a major issue for me.. i dont attend weddings i dont do sleep overs.. girsl parties.. nothing..because of my hair.. i am 26 now and i feel really old that i still dont know nothing about about who my hair is.. been relaxed all along and now its so damaged i am crying.. i haven't been taking care of it myself either because i felt its useless.. i finally connected with a friend of mine who been telling about all the beauty of natural hair.. and how beautiful natural girls look.. i finally had enough interest and confidence to go through this journey.. i am 6 months relaxer free now but i haven't established my hair care routine yet.. i am yet to start and i am so scared and excited at the same time.. thnx for this video.. i just wanted to share my experience .. ❤️❤️ love to all strong women out there ♥️♥️

Your videos are gifts from God ❤️ I’ve been wanting to transition to natural for the longest time but unfortunately it looks like I’m going to have to wait. My mom has been straightening my hair since forever and she doesn’t believe me when I say I think my hair is heat damaged, she says it’s just “straight trained” whatever that means 😒 so she won’t let me cut it. She doesn’t even believe me when I say hair can be cut without being straightened. She’s just been real close minded about all this so I guess I’ll just come back to these videos once I have the rights to my hair lol 😆

Curlyhairiggie Tv yess coconut oil is definitely not a friend to all, but you wouldn’t know it from how omnipresent it seems to be in natural hair products! It wasn’t until I colored my hair and it went from low porosity to “high porosity” that my hair started to love coconut oil. Our hair is so interesting, glad you love learning about it too!

Thank you for this current video! I have started my transition journey. My last relaxer was October 2019. I've had a relaxer since age 18 and I am now 57. My beautician was still using heat in my hair, so I just stopped seeing her since this quarantine time. My daughter has been natural for years now, so I've been using her products. However, she did the big chop, but I'm not. I have been doing a braid out and it actually was a success! Also, I've been using the flexi rods on my ends. I am looking forward to this long journey. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to transition.

@AminaMarie
@AminaMarie 4 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on 8 months, that’s a huge milestone! 👏🏽👏🏽 I go into this in Tip #9 [ 13:38 ] but unfortunately if you still have a good amount of damaged hair left at the ends you won’t be able to know your curl pattern completely. I thought I knew mine around the year mark, but when it was finally time for my mini chop I was actually surprised that my hair was nothing like I thought! The heavy straight pieces are definitely deceiving and don’t let our natural patterns really show off until they’re gone.

Hi, I decided to get my natural hair and thanks God I found your channel. I want to use SheaMoisture line and I see you suggest. Sorry about my English but I arrived in the USA a few months ago and I need practice more.

Love your videos! Im transitioning and i'm a bit too impatient lol. I just wanna fast forward time to see what I'll be working with. I've been relaxed for basically all my life and I dont even know what to expect, I dont even know my hair type. Im shaking in my boots! But imma trust the process!

Great, super helpful video! I'm 3 months in to the natural hair transition and am so glad to have found your channel. With your help, I hope to never look back. 😊 One quick question. With regard to heat, do you think roller setting under the dryer, when visiting the salon for trims, would be detrimental?
@AminaMarie
@AminaMarie 4 жыл бұрын
Yayy congratulations on 3 months! 🙌🏽 As for heated dryers to set your style, that’s ok because it’s not applying direct heat to your hair. Heated dryers can be really helpful for transitioning styles and I actually really like my Soft Bonnet Dryer Attachment for an easy at home hooded dryer. You can find them at Sally’s and Amazon 😊

The thing I'm nervous about is "dusting" because I'm basically new to more hands on work in my head. I'm nervous about it and not doing it right. We're also still in the middle of the pandemic so the people I could have show me are not in the same household

hi Amina! i’m so happy you uploaded! I had a question, i am 1 month into my transition journey and have had my eye on the as I am double butter cream, but I was wondering if it would be too soon to start using it since I have still mostly relaxer damaged hair still on my head rather than my natural hair?

I am starting to wear my hair natural, even though I have never had chemicals applied to it. When I wash my hair it is curly, like 3c/4a, but it doesn't necessarily curl like yours. I kinda need help because there isn't much information about situations like mine!!!

Have you ever tried the miss Jessie’s line? I used those and wanted to get your opinion. Otherwise I’ll probably switch once I’m done with those :) thanks for this! I have been at this for 4 years almost and it has been failure after failure due to lack of research and trusting the wrong hands. I’m now where a 3 - 5 months transition looks like but still have lots of work to do to keep my hair healthy and growing. Thanks for all the info

I've also started transitioning during the lockdown after having straightened it pretty much all my life as well as using dyes and even relaxers. I can say I am over 3 months in and I can FINALLY see some curl definition!!!!! So excited to see my hair in its natural state. Of all the videos on transiting Amina, your 3 part series is crystal clear and you get straight to the point which many other videos didn't- annoying. About to take the flexirods out! Styling ideas would be helpful - all out of ideas aside from braids which can get boring.

Your videos are so helpful thankyou! I am trying to transition to see my natural curls. My hair was never heat damaged, its usually in styles like small twists so its pretty stretched without heat. My question is do you need 2 differemt thick creams? My leave in is shae moisture and its pretty thick, I use that to style my hair when its not a washday... should I not be using that leave in as a styling cream? I'd love to hear your thoughts
