I'm in the process of transitioning to natural hair, but heres the thing my mom is sooo against it she always wants my hair to be straight and relaxed and whenever I try to even bring up the subject she gets extremely frustrated and refuses to even listen to me... Yesterday I got a big chop and she still doesn't know cause I have it in braids so it's not really noticeable. I know that if she finds out she might disown me and I'm under alot of emotional stress cause I'm dealing with other situations in my life.... I plan on keeping it a secret until my curls are popping enough then I'll show her even though I know the outcome might not be that great but being in this community I just feel loved and I feel like myself so I just want to say that to any curly headed queen out there what ever you say to support really does help!! I love yall so much ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Thank you so much for your videos. They are super helpful. I am a mixed (Nigerian & German) women who was adopted at a young age by white parents. I never learned how to take care of my hair and since I was 7 I got it Japanese straightend so my mother and I could manage it. I am now 24 . After years of constant damage around 22 I stopped going every 6 months to get it done. Slowly my hair has grown back. I'm not really sure of what stage of "transition" I am in because when my hair was growing in I did not take care of it properly but I have about 2 years of natural growth without perm (chopped all straight hair off). I know this may sound stupid but I am also learning how to brush my hair and basics of caring for my "type" of hair. Trying to get all the information is very overwhelming. Thanks you again for helping women just like me.

One day I was thinking 🤔 When will I go back Natural, because I’m getting older. I knew I wasn’t going to continue getting a relaxer. So weeks after that thought , here comes the stay at home order. So now my natural hair journey begins. I’m ok with it , I know how to braid, French braid , two strand twist, and single twist my hair. So I’m ok with that. I’ve been watching hair tutorials for weeks now, I think I’m addicted 🤪. But they are sooo informative. I didn’t know their were so many products on the market for Natural hair. The last time I was natural I was using the pressing comb. I might be telling my age but it’s Kool , I’m proud to say I’m 54. So I’m excited to be on this hair journey with the Natural Hair Family. 😁

Your videos are gifts from God ❤️ I’ve been wanting to transition to natural for the longest time but unfortunately it looks like I’m going to have to wait. My mom has been straightening my hair since forever and she doesn’t believe me when I say I think my hair is heat damaged, she says it’s just “straight trained” whatever that means 😒 so she won’t let me cut it. She doesn’t even believe me when I say hair can be cut without being straightened. She’s just been real close minded about all this so I guess I’ll just come back to these videos once I have the rights to my hair lol 😆

Curlyhairiggie Tv yess coconut oil is definitely not a friend to all, but you wouldn’t know it from how omnipresent it seems to be in natural hair products! Thank you for this current video! I have started my transition journey. My last relaxer was October 2019. I've had a relaxer since age 18 and I am now 57. My beautician was still using heat in my hair, so I just stopped seeing her since this quarantine time. My daughter has been natural for years now, so I've been using her products. However, she did the big chop, but I'm not. I have been doing a braid out and it actually was a success! Also, I've been using the flexi rods on my ends. I am looking forward to this long journey. @AminaMarie4 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on 8 months, that’s a huge milestone! 👏🏽👏🏽 I go into this in Tip #9 [ 13:38 ] but unfortunately if you still have a good amount of damaged hair left at the ends you won’t be able to know your curl pattern completely. I thought I knew mine around the year mark, but when it was finally time for my mini chop I was actually surprised that my hair was nothing like I thought! The heavy straight pieces are definitely deceiving and don’t let our natural patterns really show off until they’re gone.

With regard to heat, do you think roller setting under the dryer, when visiting the salon for trims, would be detrimental?
@AminaMarie4 жыл бұрын
Yayy congratulations on 3 months! 🙌🏽 As for heated dryers to set your style, that’s ok because it’s not applying direct heat to your hair. Last perm middle of January. I have been braiding and cutting ends. I have been looking for a good conditioner to comb out my hair in the shower. Have had very little success. Still searching. One that had helped is Dark and Lovely

hi Amina! i’m so happy you uploaded! I had a question, i am 1 month into my transition journey and have had my eye on the as I am double butter cream, but I was wondering if it would be too soon to start using it since I have still mostly relaxer damaged hair still on my head rather than my natural hair?

I am starting to wear my hair natural, even though I have never had chemicals applied to it. When I wash my hair it is curly, like 3c/4a, but it doesn't necessarily curl like yours. I kinda need help because there isn't much information about situations like mine!!!

Have you ever tried the miss Jessie’s line? I used those and wanted to get your opinion. Otherwise I’ll probably switch once I’m done with those :) thanks for this! I have been at this for 4 years almost and it has been failure after failure due to lack of research and trusting the wrong hands. I’m now where a 3 - 5 months transition looks like but still have lots of work to do to keep my hair healthy and growing. Thanks for all the info

I've also started transitioning during the lockdown after having straightened it pretty much all my life as well as using dyes and even relaxers. I can say I am over 3 months in and I can FINALLY see some curl definition!!!!! So excited to see my hair in its natural state. Of all the videos on transiting Amina, your 3 part series is crystal clear and you get straight to the point which many other videos didn't- annoying. About to take the flexirods out! Styling ideas would be helpful - all out of ideas aside from braids which can get boring.

Your videos are so helpful thankyou! I am trying to transition to see my natural curls. My hair was never heat damaged, its usually in styles like small twists so its pretty stretched without heat. My question is do you need 2 differemt thick creams? My leave in is shae moisture and its pretty thick, I use that to style my hair when its not a washday... should I not be using that leave in as a styling cream? I'd love to hear your thoughts
