I come from a small town, I’ve been the ONLY skater here for like 8 years. I can ride down hills in a one legged nose manual but I still can’t do a single flip trick because I’ve always just skated for a fun way to get around without a car. Recently in the past 2 years I’ve seen younger skaters starting to pop up everywhere so I stopped them when they weren’t turning there front foot or whatever... this was all fun and games until what looked like a 6 year old skated past me and done a kick flip up the kirb, I’m now learning a new trick a day just to keep my status as best skater in town. This makes me think, if we had a skate park and other skaters here I would have had the inspiration to learn more tricks. I’ve been skating just over a decade so I’m mega comfortable on my board, I wish I’d started learning flip tricks earlier thou.

When it comes to popping the board to pick it up I found it quite convenient learning to do it from the nose then catch it in the dominant hand. The reason I say this is because it can be done whilst you are still on the board and also the fastest way to go between riding to walking/ running without leaving the board (which is convenient if you skate high security areas that you shouldn't be in ;) )

Great video! Plenty of tricks to learn before the Ollie to get more comfortable. I do agree that you need to work on rolling and doing tricks as soon as you start getting it!

The Ollie is really loud when you land on a hard floor but it depends on which wheels you use

I've been longboarding for a year now and have never stepped foot on a skateboard, I just got a skateboard today and landed my first Ollie! Wow, the skills are really transferable, I mean I'm still kinda wobbly when I push cause I'm used to a more sturdy foundation, but I think I can get the hang of it relatively quickly
