I have the same inverter, do your fans turn on immediately on any ac load even though they it maybe small. Find it very noisy. Only 6 days left till you get in the cue to cross the border. Enjoy your channel.

No, my fans only turn on and create some noise under heavy loads. If its under 100 watts I never hear a fan. Cheers, Ray

I have the same inverter. Its been functioning very well. I'm looking to dive into rooftop solar. Thinking 40a mppt with 2x280w panels to keep the 6volts charged. I'd love to run the ac on battery/solar but I'd have to budget for 7 or 8 thousand to make that happen.

Wish Lion Energy or someone would make a system like the Safari ME without the bells and whistles for ppl like me on a very limited budget, right now all i have is hand me down gel lead acid batterys and a harbor freight 800 watt basic inverter and one previously used 80 watt solar panel that takes a few days to change the batteries when i run them down less than 85%. One day hopefully the prices will drop and i can upgrade to a nice system like the Lion Energy.

The cost of lithium batteries is the biggest hurdle to making them much cheaper. The lithium battery pack is what makes it a very powerful and fast charging but still a relatively lightweight package. All these lithium-based portable power boxes have to buy off the world market for lithium and it remains highly priced. Hard to say if the price will come down much since the demand is currently so high and lithium needs to be mined so there is a fixed cost to do that. The best hope is if some other new battery technology comes along that is cheaper. Cheers, Ray

I too was surprised how clean it was inside. When we come back from the desert we're sweeping fine grain sand the rest of the year. Running only a 100 W of power not really surprised all the electronics are in good shape. As you are aware heat is the enemy of electronics. I imagine it runs very cool with only a 100W demand. I'm still waiting for your mini nuclear power station with cooling tower install though... lol.

Thanks, here is an update on the SeeLevel from last summer - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGG8hYGXa5iYedU I think its a must have for my boondocking trips but in hindsight I wouldn't have got it for the black and galley tanks just the fresh and shower. Hey Ray, another informative video. I was just looking at this inverter online yesterday - as you know on sale for $189 at CTC. What will it power in your RV? I'm hoping to have it power our small outdoor kitchen bar fridge (electric only) while travelling, and hopefully my CPAP at night either when power is out or while boondocking. We have 2 deep cycle batteries in our 5th.

It should be able to power those no problem. Here is a post I publish a few yeas ago showing what we used it to power - www.loveyourrv.com/what-do-we-power-with-500-watts-of-rv-solar/ Things it won't power are high wattage items like microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. Most items have a wattage rating label on them. Anything under 900 watts it should handle. Just be advised that 2 batteries isn't very much capacity if you start powering higher wattage items they will run down fairly quickly. Cheers, Ray

I wish I had picked the 1000w inverter at that time the 3000w was also on sale and for not too much more, so I bought that one. I didn't notice when I bought it that the 3000 was a modified wave inverter, doh. I have to be a little more diligent when I buy things, tried to take it back, still new in the box, but it was beyond their return or exchange period. If someone would like an unused 3000w modified inverter, let me know.

Ray you mentioned that you were heading out in a few weeks, are you headed south from BC and if so how are you going to get across the border. Out here in Ontario we can't even approach or look at the US border, Trudeau wants ALL our travel money spent here including the revenue from sales tax, fuel tax etc. Just curious.

No, I'm heading out to camp around Vancouver Island in some of the forest and Provincial park camp sites and wait and hope the border opens in the next couple months or we'll have to spend another winter.

When plugging in your 30 amp cord to the RV, are you bypassing the built-in DC converter/charger? I would like to be able to do this, but can't figure out how to bypass it. My thought is that it would be trying to "charge" the battery while running off of battery power. Seems like it would be an escalating amp loop or something. The advantage is that all of my power plugs would be active.

Yes, that is a definitely a concern. In my rig there is a separate 15 amp AC breaker on the power distribution panel specifically for the converter charger. I just flip it off when I go boondocking to disable the charger.
