It really boils down to the life lesson of "if you can't be happy with yourself, how will those around you be happy with you?" by getting your happiness purely from another person you become Dependent on them for it, and thus make your happiness at stake of the whims of that person. Finding a way to be content with yourself and joy in aspects of your life is always a good foundation before seeking dating. It sucks it sounds like you had to go through it the hard way but it's good you're all the better for it.

Also they got mad if i play with my other friend.. like felt insecure if i gonna leave them for this other friend. @dhikari2226 ай бұрын
@@johnharbick3605 I think it's unfair to say it's the lack of friends means there must be something wrong with someone. Plenty of reasons that could lead to someone being socially isolated, especially in our modern societies where there's a lot of strain put on social relations. It's more the complete disregard for what friends he does have and the effort they have gone through for him that makes this guy a complete dick.

@BenkaiDebussy5 ай бұрын
I feel like a lot of people find themselves in bad situations because they tell themselves "I shouldn't be shallow." In general, the idea of forming a relationship with someone without having even seen a full photo of them is completely baffling to me. It seems like some people just have the love/relationships version of a gambling mindset, where they convince themselves that they're going to experience the 1 in a million chance that "the online relationship with someone who hides how they look" is going to be with a secret hottie (and completely shut out the part of their brain that would normally raise the red flag).
@hipsterghost70204 ай бұрын
@@Stiksta Attractiveness doesn't just mean physical, it's also personality, and mental. Weight has nothing to do with things a majority of the time. Crap attitudes, laziness, unwilling to change, etc, these all go into it as well. You have to be able to be with someone without wanting to get away from them. My partner has been with a guy like this, I had a guy like this pursuing me once. It's sad that guys like this are more common than we'd think. I think this guy was just stuck in a fantasy romance and then awkwardly had no way to back out of following through. A lot of people in XIV just want their online fantasy romance. Like, once you've been with a person IRL and then all you have to say is stuff like "I believe you'll accomplish your dreams... of clearing UWU!" as opposed to "I hope you find someone who's good to you, who can be the husband and future father of your children that you deserve." That's proof enough. He equates accomplishments in XIV to IRL accomplishments.

YESSSSSSSS PATHRA TIME ❤❤ I was there for this story time read, and I really like how this community has in a way formed to be a bit of a support group for people. Whether that be listening and being able to relate, or needing to voice the situations you’ve been in. in a way, it’s like a form of therapy on its own. Even if your stories don’t make it to be read live, I still feel that it’s great and important for people to journal their feelings and it has a form of healing about it, especially when you’ve been through something tragic as this. I hope good karma comes to OPs way and that Avery is able to get the help he needs, he sounds like he has a lot of mental issues from past traumas and needs help, not by you, but a behavioral therapist about this to help him This doesn’t change the pain he’s caused and I’m not validating that but I do hope he can learn from this and use this as an opportunity to better himself to prevent another victim falling into this same situation he caused OP this healing journey is not going to be linear and there will definitely be happy days and some sad ones, and I hope for each passing day things get easier and we all here support you and thank you for getting your message out there.

This is even more brutal than what I went through. At last I wasn't lied to like that. I was in an LDR for 5 years. We met up after 2 years when they came to visit me here in the US. They kept up this idea of a relationship with me even planning out getting married together. I started the process to get them moved over here. After covid and immigration taking too long, it finally came time for them to do an interview. They then broke up with me saying I wasn't attractive to them. We'd sent pictures before even meeting and they DID meet me but didn't say anything for 3 years, keeping up the charade that we would be getting married. I feel for OP and hope they can figure out a way to trust again, because I was only lied to a little for 3 years and have trouble trusting anyone. Their experience is so much worse.

Oh man... my heart goes out to you BIG time. I'm so sorry that happened to you. It really effects us when people do things like that, gives us MAJOR trust issues, and it sucks because there really is a lot of amazing people out there that deserve our love. Pretty much almost every guy I tried to have a relationship with has cheated on me, so I already had trust issues from that, but then I had a FF14 experience where I tried to be friends with someone who basically tossed me into the dirt and gave me the cold shoulder after I told him I couldn't ERP with him. This guy was supposed to be my friend and he basically just showed how much he didn't give af about me the entire time. (there's more to it than that but I don't wanna get into it here lol) I also had a guy who I became friends with at a place I worked at, we were friends for a long time, like 3-4 years or so, and he knew I had a fiancé at the time (he's my husband now) but still proceeded to hit on me after we finally exchanged numbers. (I should've known better but we did work together so I thought it would be a good idea in case we needed to cover each others shifts for any reason) The dude basically disrespected me and my husband by hitting on me and saying "he doesn't have to know" and I of course politely turned him down, feeling extremely awkward about our friendship after that. (again there's more to this story but too long to get into) Basically he exploded on me after I tried to help him out with something after our boss warned me about people sending in complaints and he wasn't doing a very good job so I was very politely trying to help him out and it caused him to get mad at me. Funny how he suddenly changed his tune on me after I turned his advances down. lol But yeah... it's situations like that, that give us trust issues, not with just romantic relationships but with friendships also.. and it sucks. 🙃 The best thing we can do though is to not let those toxic people get to us, and to keep trying, and keep letting people into our hearts, because even though some people will try and crush it, we should still give a chance to those who will embrace us and not take us for granted because it's so rewarding when that happens. ❤

Also, how did they know he was in his 30s? 🤔 lol In any case, Avery seemed like he didn't even try to get a job or anything, literally was leaching off of whoever he could the whole time. As someone who suffers from mental and physical issues which makes it hard for me to get and keep a job, I still make the effort to keep trying, hence why I'm not blaming anyone but myself if I ended up obese and alone. (which thankfully I'm not XD) I wouldn't be blaming OP or others for my poor life decisions of not trying to better myself. I feel like it's very rare to get an interview with both sides of the story. 😵 I would LOVE to hear what he has to say tbh, because for all we know someone could be lying, and it's a he-said-she-said without any evidence, so if he could provide any substantial evidence that she was lying somehow about anything I would very much love to know about it. I feel like for us as bystanders, it's so easy to spot the red flags but when you're in love, you tend to give the benefit of the doubt despite the glaring signs of it being a red flag. More than a drama story, this is just a tragic story. I'm so sorry for OP that this has happened... the whole 10 years of time just to have it turn out this way-- I can't imagine the grief and lost time. I hope OP and Avery's friends can find semblance of peace later on after this.
@0fluu06 ай бұрын
Yeah the red flags are easily spitted since i mention them in the story, right.. and like, I knew they were red flags, i was not oblivious to them. But i always had a "but", there was always a "yes he doesnt send me pictures But he grew up with a dad in jail and a mom whos not alive and a grandmother that only shouts at him.. so i understand his anxiety and respect that." Or just in general the Yes But, caused me to look at the bigger picture. Yes this is weird But this is thr man that waited for me, stood by me, Surely in the grand scheme of things this'll be fine....... I thought that the fantasy version of Avery that Avery had crafted so well, was gonna make up for the red flags.. too bad that was based off a fantasy and not off how he really was.. manipulators man. Wild

@@0fluu0 Oh totally! I understood why you were able to look pass these things since you guys have had history for a long time and you did mention that he felt like he was THE one... I feel like this is something anyone can be easily trapped if they were put in your situation as well which is scary. I was shocked and really felt sad listening to your story, I truly hope despite the future being uncertain as of now that you are able to find someone who can stand by your side. Naïve as it sounds from a stranger, I really wish you all the happiness in the world whether big or small. 😭 I'm looking forward to hearing you on your interview too!

Op was 33? Hey, it's really shitty tbh hearing that it didn't work out, and you wanted a family. Risks after 35 for having a family are always there as it's associated with increased chances of birth defects. You would be monitored much more throughout the pregnancy. My youngest sister was born when my mother was 40. My oldest sister just had her first child close to 39. Time can never be taken back, but please don't give up. If you ever find love again (which I hope you do), just know that the door isn't closed.
@kaye5076 ай бұрын
My mom had me at 39 and my brother at 41. She wasn't undergoing any fertility treatments to have my brother either. The risks are increased but people def can and do get pregnant into their early 40s. If you really want to, and have the resources (money) available and health permits, you can even carry a pregnancy after menopause with IVF and a donor egg. Grandmas have given birth to their biological grandchildren because the daughter couldn't get pregnant for whatever reason. Out of curiosity I Googled the oldest woman to do this, and some lady from India gave birth at 74. (?!?!?!) It's questionable whether having a kid at that age is advisable or ethical, because ain't nobody going to be spry enough to keep up with a small child at 80 years old, but yeah... If there's a will, there's a way

Thank you for chiming in, and apologies if I caused any offense. Hope you have a good day, Michael.

Going against the grain and i will probably get hate for this but thuthfully, my sympathy for OP was thrown out the window when she basically emotionally cheated on her ex, but tries to portray it as if she "did the right thing" when she removed Avery from her life (for a time). She E-cheats for 10ish years?? Im genuinely astounded at how much support the chat gave her. She didnt deserve it. Dont get me wrong, Avery was a POS beyond description, but she needs to take some accountability too.

10 years must be prime drama time because that's how long I was in a long distance relationship before they suddenly decided they 'weren't capable of loving' and all these other excuses. I legitimately wondered if this video was about me. (Though knew it wasn't because it wasn't really in FF) Also the part about the friend sending him money that just, disappeared, reminds me of the time my household (My brother, my cousin, and a friend) were struggling to pay bills, and a friend gave my cousin 500 dollars for rent, and she... gave the money to her mom to help her out, and didn't even TELL anyone of us that she had received money in the first place. Everyone was PISSED when we found out over a chance message from her mom.

This is why I don't get caught up with online relationships. The few times I joined a FC that was into the RP scene and insisted everyone get bonded to someone else was so uncomfortable given past experiences with online individuals myself. One turned out to be a super creepy stalker that ended up traveling to the state I lived in (we were only friends) then asked to meet at a coffee house a few blocks from where I lived (never told them exactly where I lived, they had somehow figured it out). Scared the hell out of me. The other ended up being someone that was the sort of 'do as I say, not as I do' type of person who lived in Europe. Made everything super stressful and was stubborn beyond belief. I eventually just broke off all contact cold turkey with them. To this day they still try to talk to me, but I just don't reply. Kudos to those who can manage to some how make long distance relationships work and eventually live happily ever after, but I would say that is super rare over running into odd, creepy, or flat out liars.

She didn't sell her horse to be with Avery. She sold her horse because she didn't make enough money to justify a luxury expense as a one person household. She would have broken up with boyfriend #1 anyways, and even if Avery wasn't in the picture at all, that horse would still get sold. Lack of personal accountability is how people get scammed.
@0fluu05 ай бұрын
I was there, hi ^^ the horse had to be sold either way yes, but it was mostly so I wouldnt have to bend over backwards making ends meet, and could actually save up for the life with Avery, so yeah. Exactly as I said it

I could totally see myself as one of those coworkers. When people are so blatantly arrogant and self-righteous that they always think they know best, and hand wave away any criticism or warnings -- you better believe the "I told you so"s are going to come out thick and hard when that arrogance bites the arrogant person in the ass. This woman probably had 10+ people from her family, friend's group, and coworkers all telling her that there are massive red flags, and she probably just brushed em all away thinking she knew better, lol. Well, better she learn what a catfish is when she's young and not when she's 60 signing away her retirement to some online scammer who made all the same promises.

And I say his friends cause once we broke up I heard nothing from them. After a year and a half I found someone who actively includes me and yes he is a gamer but he ask if I want to play something with him (Which is usually something he helps me complete lol) or he ask if I want to play something solo like 14. But he has good hygiene is sooo cute, and he usually is the one to push that I should play a game. He even waited till I was done a game before he beat it. I think he's a keeper. :)

A lot of people show their true colors online through anonymity, so someone acting nice to people usually is as well in real life. Anyone listening to your random ramblings online and actually cares for what you have to say is someone you can easily consider a friend. I've met many people throughout the years that met online and actually got married and are still married to this day. It's really no different than dating through tinder and not that weird considering you share a hobby in common in FFXIV which is a way to connect.
