Watching this eating a soup with Okinawa spinach, chard and oregano from my garden. If feels so comforting. It’s like you have a connection with that food. You cared for it, now it takes care of you. A beautiful cycle.

Thank you, I have a nano garden, am in a wheelchair but your information gave me more ideas I e pumpkin leaves in a frittata excellent. I like to browse the garden and pick my lunch.

Oh - how wonderful! You could do the same with a sweet potato. Plant one in a hanging pot, and browse on the shoots that dangle. They are an excellent and easy green, and doing it this way can use your vertical space too in your nano garden. All the best.

I definitely enjoy eating from my garden, it might have taken me a few months to get into the habit of eating as much as possible but now i eat something from the backyard usually everyday. I've only started about a year ago but i am adding more perennials all the time, and chickens as soon as I build something for them to live in

You have gorgeous parrots and polite kangaroos who respect your food and eat the weeds. We have ground hogs LOL.

Today I remembered a lot about your classes and my grandparents. By chance I managed to harvest about 20 pumpkins in my garden (I grew them from seed). So I made a recipe for sweet and sour squash with rice, I toasted the seeds and they were crisp and tasty, I toasted the shells too and with salt and pepper they were like a crunchy snack. Tomorrow I will make pumpkin marmalade with sugar, lemon and cloves (it is fun and entertaining while we wait at home for the vaccines to go around the world). Next week I plan to make some soup and keep it concentrated in the freezer. All with my pumpkins, hahahaha. I am still very grateful!

Sensational video, we don’t live far from you so watching these videos is so inspiring, we live off grid and self sufficient as possible, so between you and Charles Dowding I think we’re on a winner. So thank you 🙏😎

You are such an inspiration to do more in the garden! Loved your video , thank you for making it and sharing ! I grow some of your greens already, others I am looking forward to order plants and try out. What grows well for me here and you might want to ad to your garden is Moringa ( grows like a weed ! ) and Katuk which tastes delicious and is such an easy growing perennial green !

I'm trying to get Moringa going - I'm just a little bit too cool in the winter time - keeps getting frosted :-(

@@MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife try to create a microclimate in your garden , plant wind protection and canopy protection and position where winter sun is the warmest. . If that doesn’t work , there are seeds available at Baker Creek Seeds for dwarf Moringa that can be grown in a pot and put indoors in winter ……

Such a lovely meal. Thank you, Morag. I have been making a salad every spring for my husband from the first fresh dandelion greens, chive sprouts, and boiled sliced eggs with a fresh vinegar dressing. Something to look forward to shortly as the snow is melting with the refreshing spring rains here!

Thank you. Great information as always. I appreciate you not only showing what you grow in your garden but how you use it. I think it would go a long way if more people did the same; new people (and not just the young) just now getting into gardening usually can't imagine how to use some plants/animals.

Thanks for your message. I love learning from others too about how they use their plants in cooking,. It's so fascinating. Our understanding of how to integrate the wholeness of plants in our cooking comes from cross-cultural and intergenerational conversations.

So awesome Morag! It is my dream to one day be a Permaculture teacher like you. I don't know if Geoff Lawton has the teachers certificate course or just the pdc but I wouldn't mind taking your teachers certificate course once i can generate the funds. Do i have to take the pdc first? What's the deal with that? I'm definitely gonna check out your blog now that i know about it. Also is there a way to take it in sections as i probably couldn't afford to do it all at once. Money is tight these days but I'm never gonna let go of my dreams just because of not having money. Where there's a will there's a way! Thanks in advance Morag! You're the coolest!

I love making a simple lunch of spanish tortilla (eggs, potatoes, onions) and salad (lettuce, rocket, cucumber, tomato) all from our urban backyard in Sydney. Loved to know about the treasure I have in my garden in the clump of canna I was thinking about removing, I'll put it to good use now. I recently harvested my pumpkins, some a little early as they had been chewed on either by rats or possums. Can I salvage them at all for human consumption or should I just give them to the chickens? The bite marks got to 5-8mm or so past the skin, but have scabbed over since, and there are no signs of rotting after a week from harvest. They are still outside.
@SenseMakinginaChangingWorld3 жыл бұрын
That's great to hear about what you are cooking from your urban garden. If the pumpkin heals that is good, otherwise, you can eat it at whatever stage it is. Even young pumpkins are edible - think of them more at that stage like a zucchini :-)
