1000cc Mini Trophy Truck Pt. 12 | Sputtering to Life!

Our trophy truck build we're calling the trophy kart is almost ready for a ride! In today's episode, we hear the 1000cc BMW K100 engine turn over for the first time. It wouldn't start because our fuel system isn't finished, but we heard it sputter, trying to fire up, meaning our wiring is correct. We also mount the radiator, fuel tank, rear support bars to give our roll cage more bracing, and we lower the seating position to give taller riders plenty of room with a helmet on.

Where you have the radiator it's going to get plugged with debris and possibly punctured. I would put it near the top on the back like you see on Baja vehicles.

Love this thing....Might want to look into puting that fuel tank inside of the cage. In case it does rollover it won't take a hit and leak allover.

Mount the radiator on the 2 cross braces above the fuel tank, that way it will get all the air it needs and still be out of the way.

The gas tank should be mechanically protected within the frame boys! I understand that it's away from the sauerkraut fueled engine but the way you boys (John) been headed, something to consider maybe. Just my opinion! We want you lads to be filming for many years to come!

Things are looking good guys, the only issue I see is the radiator location. The tires are going to be kicking stuff up and either going to plug or puncture the radiator. I would mount it as high up behind your head as you can. Its safe there and will be able to have a good air flow. Maybe put a piece of hardware cloth in front of it to protect against rocks from another buggy or bike in front of you. Looking awesome, cant wait to see and hear it run.

Maybe mount the rad under the tank if possible. it would get better air flow and be less likely to get hit from tire debris. and maybe mud flaps as an easy way to help with the tire spray. great build. keep up the good work

i you mount the radiator on the rollcage behind the driver it will get more airflow, look way cooler, and for sure be the highest point in the cooling system, witch makes it all easier

The open diff works as a safetyvalve too , if you turn so fast the rearwheel lift it woll stop transmitting all power and.possibly prevent the truck from flipping over

"We're really limited on where we can put this thing.." uh... put it up high on the triangulated supports on the rear end.. great flow and easy to mount.. And so long as you have a good overflow bottle and a good radiator cap it won't scald you. Plus it'll be the highest point in the cooling system so it won't vapor lock the cooling. "Ike doesn't fit anymore because he's tall.." I wish I could meet you guys and show you what tall is.. I'm 6'10.

I think you will end up putting a rock through that radiator from being so close to the tire maybe make its own bracket behind the seat about level with the fuel tank it should get plenty of air and be safe from damage just my opinion awesome build and maybe actually do a sheet metal body do panels and some kind of fenders make it look mor like a actual truck it will protect you and the engine and drivetrain and on the cross kart I would suggest maybe raising the engine a few inches or at least do some kind of belly skid plate underneath the engine block great builds guys just need a few little fine tweaks keep em coming can’t wait to see this beast move under it’s own power
