I wanted to thank you for this tutorial, after watching it I was inspired to create my own on a 24x14 board. I used items I collected from the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean that were special to me . It came out absolutely beautiful and is now my favorite piece. I usually sell or give away my art as gifts but this one I'm keeping! I actually followed your directions step by step, if I found sections that I was familiar with, like mixing ect. I would fast forward , easy breezy lol. You are in depth with your teaching which is super beneficial for beginners and experienced artists can always learn some special tips. You keep being you and don't worry about what some people say. My Mama taught me, if ya got nothing nice to say, dont say anything! My name is Sharon too and I'm digressing as well lol. Love your tutorials and your voice. PEACE

Thank you for doing the longer video showing the entire process. I am just beginning this journey and am just trying to learn as much as I can so I really appreciate the longer tutorials. I don’t bother watching the quickie videos that are out there because it’s just too much too fast and they talk like everyone that’s watching them already has prior knowledge so I just end up getting lost because I don’t know what they are talking about. Newbies like me need people like you who will take the time to teach us every part of your process. I have viewed a lot of videos and it can get overwhelming pretty quick so I ended up subscribing to just you and two other artists who have a similar teaching style. I love how your beach turned out, you really did an exceptional job on the waves. I learned soooo much from you and can’t wait to learn more so please keep them coming❤❤!! Thank you!

With respect to the people who are getting the "marshmallowing" using the acrylic paints, they are probably using what is called student acrylics, and are much thinner and have more filler added to them. I'm guessing that the acrylics that you are using are what is called artist acrylics. They are much better quality, more opaque AND more expensive. The "student acrylics are what you can pick up at any local superstore here in the states like Walmart or Target. You would need to either order the artist acrylics online, or go to an art supply store to find those. Hope that helps anyone who is having that problem using acrylics.

I never realised sharing my process would frustrate so many people. I constantly have this conversation with myself. If you see it says 1.45hr and you don’t have the time move on IMO. If you don’t like my voice turn the sound down. If you are short in time skip forward, if you know Resin move to the bits your interested you. I cannot think of a time where I watched a video around art and have it a thumbs down. It’s makes no sense to me. I feel this piece and video is a love or hate one but I will continue to share my process as for all the negative people there are so many people who are thankful for it. Thank you again for the much needed positivity and perspective. You have given me a much needed boost.

ClayforthePotter Campbell I don’t like the sound of my own voice and she is me and I am sharon. I value any feedback as long as it’s constructive and perspective and not rude. I was asked multiple time to create a full instructional video for people who are new to Resin and they asked me to talk out loud so they understood my thoughts and processes. I give it all for free and I encourage other to utilise my knowledge. If that makes me sound like I love my voice so be it. But that is not the intention of this video. Have a wonderful week.

@@SharonLindleyVividDaysArt how many times are you going to address me about this little project and video? Girl, I really don't care that much. I was just letting you know that it was an awful lot of talking. I fast forwarded the video several times and you were still talking. It was way too much. If people are slow then maybe they should be taking L.D. classes and not your classes on Epoxy Resin art. JS. Cause it was a lot. But like I said, I can care less so tell your crafting buddies to stop a dressing me too or I will get rude with my comments. This is me being nice actually. Thanks for a sarcastic response though. Sharon, this was a wonderful tutorial and very detailed and you did warn viewers that it was long and you weren't going to apologize for it and you shouldn't have to. Some people talk a lot and some people don't talk enough. You will never please everyone. Just do what you love to do and don't worry about pleasing everyone. Especially those toxic ones! People can fast forward or more importantly just not watch your video if it bothers them that much. I personally learned quite a lot from your tutorial. This is a beautiful art piece and I want to thank you for taking your time both in creating the piece and creating the video which probably took much longer since you need to edit it. Thank the camera man too! I have one question and you may have spoken about it and I just missed it or maybe it was not mentioned. Why the second coat of resin doing the same thing. Was there a specific purpose behind this or did you just want it to be at a certain level? Thank you once again and please don't let the negative losers change how you do things. If I were you, I would talk even longer just to piss them off and hopefully they will leave your channel! You don't need toxic people watching you. Happy New Year Girl!
@SharonLindleyVividDaysArt4 жыл бұрын
You comment made me giggle, especially about talking more to piss them off. Your comment meant the world to me, thank you for your support, kind words and the detailed comment. I really value that. IMO and its only MO the second layer is where you really create movement and depth. Its optional but this is like the fine detail on say an oil painting. Its makes the different between a good painting and a great painting. Each layer can still be seen just underneath creating movement or light and shade. If you cannot see it on the end review pause the frame and take a look. Or create a small piece with one layer, then another and have two layers. Resin is expensive so you have to take that into consideration and it depends on the kind of ocean you enjoy. I recently create and ocean clock and you might be able to see what I am talking about more. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWjZd5h8r9yKaKM you also see be edited a section out. Anyhow I am digressing, hope that helps have a wonderful week and hope to see you again soon.

Sharon, I loved this video and hope you to continue to provide these detailed instructional videos. One question... you may have said this and I missed it, but when you did the final coat, did you put less pigment in the resin to make them more transparent? Also, have you added resin pigments instead of acrylic paints for the resin coats? I get the need for acrylic paint for the undercoat, especially when you are covering up those words, but wonder about using resin pigments vs acrylic paint to mix with resin. Again, thanks so much for this video.
@SharonLindleyVividDaysArt5 жыл бұрын
Hello Shirley, thank you for watching and your comment. Yes, you must have missed those sections they were all detailed in the commentary. What you add to your Resin is a personal choice, pigments work better with Resin but I connect with these colours for my ocean so that is my choice for this piece. As mentioned work with caution with Acrylics mixed with Resin.

I really like that. Apart from the shells having the wrong scale of the waves, I'd say that's a pretty impressive job and it's darn hard to impress me I should say :) Looking at other examples online, I finally found the secret behind these awestriking scenaries using resin, color, talent and skills. I just love watching people who are better than I am doing their thing. It just makes me glad to live in a time where these things happen and this specific artform is really something. I can't wait to see a scenary covering several square feet being made. It must be like sitting in a plane, hovering above the sea level. I wonder who would make the entire island from "Cast Away" with Tom Hanks sitting there with all the Fed Ex packages on the beachside :) My hat's off. I salute you with the utmost respect. Thank you :)

Thank you Brian for you detailed, supportive and honest feedback. I really do value that, the Shells I totally get, my first piece didn't have them for that reason but then I though I would have fun with suggestion. I mainly add as each piece is collected by my hand on beaches that have memories for me. It helps me connect and it makes it fun. I may just have to create so with out every so often. @@SharonLindleyVividDaysArt I was bullied as a kid so seeing "adults" making unnecessary comments is ridiculous. It doesn't matter what people say negatively, YOU DO YOU! There are plenty of people on here craving more from you. Personally, if I had a page, I wouldn't deal with them. I'd block them and then they could go harass someone else. I let people run over me when I was younger and I've become a protector of others for it. Criticizing and critiquing are completely different and making a rude comment and then saying, "I'm not trying to be mean" tells me they DON'T try, it just comes naturally. LOL! I have been watching and will watch more!

Make sure you join my FB group to showcase your work. I have found that for me (hence my channel) showing my art keeps me going with practice and it’s always nice to ask for feedback from others. This group and me can be there for you and help with advice or just appreciate your work. Glad you enjoy the longer videos to help others and thank you for the Sub. Amazing! I had no idea how to do this so this was extremely helpful. Best parts of instruction? I liked that you kept your paints in view in the order you used them and that you mixed your paints as you went along. I do have a couple of questions. If you had liked the results in the first round of pouring but wanted a thicker coat of resin, could you have just added a "topcoat" of clear resin? Along those lines, if you wanted to make a little table out of it would you add a more thicker "topcoat" or would you have to do it in layers so it could cure better? (In the end of doing this as a table I would like everything to be under resin including the shells) Thank you so much for making this video. I really enjoyed it!
@SharonLindleyVividDaysArt4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and glad you found it helpful. They layers for me are more for movement and depth. It’s really a personal choice. My first layer of resin is really the movement underneath. The second layer is the images. My suggestion would be do too little pieces and try one with just one layer and one with two and you should see what I mean. It’s adds so much more life to your piece. The top coat is not needed unless you want to cover dust or imperfections or just add white. Hope that helps.
