Let's face it guys, I'm white but when everyday people say "Asian," they mean East Asian, not South Asian. So stop getting so butthurt over it, because even you know that they don't mean to include you in that group (only legal documents and South Asians do). East and South are entirely different. It's like saying "American" and all of a sudden Canadians and Mexicans jump into a fret, arguing that they are part of "North America" as well and should therefore be called American, fully knowing that "American" means people of the US.

While India is in Asia, they did not develop around the same area as the east-asians, as which is why they don't look alike. Here in Thailand people have their own take on these things. 1. Karaoke: Three main types: private booths as shown here. Backyard, with the volume cranked up to somewhere between ear drum splitting and tooth-rattling. 'cause why not inflict your really baaaad singing on all of your neighbors. Hostess bars, which serve as a front for, well you know! 2. Eating: Thais are constantly eating. THE number one question you are likely to be asked....Gin Khao? Have you eaten? When not eating meals, Thais are constantly snacking. Perhaps a bit too much. Too many children you see could really stand to shed more than a few pounds. 3. Hot Pot: Definitely popular. MK is my favorite place. In addition to the hot pot, they have yummy roast duck. 4. Buffets: They have them here, but I don't care for food that has been sitting around. 5. Bubble Tea: There ar places to get it, but to be honest, Thais drink much more blended coffee beverages. Here in my home town of Lampang there must be a hundred places to have coffee and only a few to have bubble tea. 6. Ramen: Definitely! That's what I'll be having for dinner tonght. I'll going to use cellophane noodles, cooked in homemade chicken stock, with slices of roast chicken, hot oil, sesame oil, roasted garlic and lime. Yum! 7. Walk around: Definitely not! Thais are pretty sedentary. Being an expat American, I DO like a leisurely stroll after dinner. 8. Hello Kitty: Thais absolutely love "Kitty". I took a trip with a friend and his family last year to Malaysia. One stop for his little girls was Hello Kitty Land, which they adored. Kitty seems as popular with older "girls" as well. 9. DDR: I see it around, but I would say it is THAT popular. 10. Anime: Thais DO read anime. Unfortunately, that's all they are likely to read. Thais are definitely NOT big readers. That's probaby one of the reasons tests scores among ASEAN countries is so poor. 11. Taking pictures. I saw online that Thailand is THE selfie capital of the world. I believe it! 12. Cosplay and Cons. I don't see much of that going on. Perhaps it is bigger in Bangkok. Too bad. There is nothing cuter than a girl or young woman decked out in full anime costume.
