It's a bit of a shame you guys didn't put more effort into actually setting the bikes up properly, it's kind of miss leading when you give yeti a perfect 10 and the scott an 8 simply cause stock YETI setup worked for you out of the box with some clicker adjustments and the scott didn't... i'm no suspension guru but i can easily make a fork more progressive with some volume spacers and air pressure adjustments... the smart move would've been to not do a direct comparison if you couldn't test the bikes fully.
@MBRmagazine6 жыл бұрын

@Twentykixx6 жыл бұрын
I think with the cans in the back being so different, there’s room for improvement on both builds for linear progression over the stroke per rider comfort and terrain. Not to mention that when I rode my Scott initially, after a short time the Twin-Lock becomes more natural and compelling as a positive and not a negative, as reviewed here as subtlety negative. The reach condemnation seems more like mates agreeing with each other based on similar riding characteristics, instead of devils advocate. However, love the context and the deeper dive into a full comparison of the best 170 travel bikes in the stream on a brilliant enduro terrain test ride. The Scott will outperform the Yeti at the bike park however, and match the Yeti’s capabilities over the Enduro sections, so truly the Scott is the best of both worlds. Cheers!

the cheapest ransom i have found is just under 3000 euro and I really think it is worth it. you can always buy a good xc hardtail for 500 bucks, even much less but you would never race enduro or ride crazy rocky steep hills with big drop offs with that bike, i mean, you can, but say goodbye to your knees, wrists and you are probably going to crash more, go slower, and have way less fun and more stress. so in this market, you get what you pay for. these bikes are aimed at enduro racers or freeride enthusiasts. not your average bike rider. have a nice day:)

Nice review. But i'm not sure if you concluded which bike is faster? Was the yeti faster each time you switched (infinity) to it? Or was it just a nicer bike?
@MBRmagazine6 жыл бұрын
You're right, we didn't. As we didn't do any back-to-back timed runs it's difficult to say emphatically, but anecdotally we'd say the the Yeti felt faster over long 6 minute plus stages because it was more composed and we used less energy, so we could ride harder. If that makes sense.
@the_vids6 жыл бұрын
@@MBRmagazine Thanks, that makes perfect sense to me! I'm asking because what I am really wondering about is if that bike would make me faster in an enduro competition than my current 2018 Nomad (4). The difference to my 2015 Nomad (3) was surprisingly noticeable (on Strava and comp times) and def worth the upgrade. Do you have an educated gut-feeling if that a SB150 should make me even faster? Or would it be close to a dead race? I do know you can not answer that question with any precision at all, but since no-one has tested these bikes head to head, and probably no one will, I have really no idea at all. Maybe you have some?
@MBRmagazine6 жыл бұрын
Ah, the million dollar question. Without wanting to disappear down a rabbit-hole of wheel size pros and cons, we tend to find we are faster on 29in wheels. So in this case, we'd probably be faster on the Yeti than the Nomad. Also the sizing is better on the Yeti. But, without testing them back to back on the same track we couldn't say definitively.

Yeti's new line up is fraught with problems. The 100, 130 and 150, many owners left dissatisfied and Yeti refuse to deal with the issues. The 150 is advertised as clearance for 2.5 tyres and yet it rubs hard with 2.4 tyres, this is unacceptable from a high priced boutique bike. The switch infinity has already been recalled and yet is still causing issues despite the update. These issues highlight why short term reviews are useless. The Scott however; actually adjust the shock correctly by removing bands, swap in a Grip 2 damper and you're laughing all the way to the podium.
@MBRmagazine6 жыл бұрын
GRPABT1 so basically exactly what we said about the Scott - a great bike that would be even better with a Grip damper in the fork. We haven’t heard of any issues with the latest Switch Infinity, although there could be. True, short term tests will never highlight long term durability issues.
