Geetanjali Thakur yes the same with me Many Indian kitchens channels in USA and Canada speak broken English but Gita in India speaks the most perfect. English.

Hello from USA. Liked today's video a lot. Brings back lot of memories from India of those summer months. Now a days it is getting hotter and hotter because of global warming and trees being cut. I guess in most homes AC is a must. Most people have it in one room which is not enough. And when there is power cut that AC and fan is of no use. So these natural remedies are very refreshing and can be made use of. Loved your clean crisp white water with purple flowers. Great combination. Another tip is to have khus curtains . It is a natural sweet smelling grass. My grandmother used to spray it with water and keep it wet. The whole house would smell amazingly good and it would be keep the house really cool. My mom would also keep bowls of cold water in every room filled with mogra flowers. Somehow that mogra fragrance would also feel cool. Nice video with lot of information.

Lovely idea to have fragrance of fresh mogra flowers. Khus curtains are great too!

Nice!Applying and massaging coconut oil soaked with fenugreek on the head everyday is a good coolant!Is it necessary to cover the mud pot with wet cloth?Water inside the pot needs to seep through small pores on the mud pot and should evaporate outside to keep the pot cool!Evaporation produces cooling!By covering with wet cloth stops evaporation of water in the pot and the water remains at the same temperature!Also,oil bath once a week is a great idea!Excellent tips !Thank u so much!
@GitasKitchen5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I also thought about his. I understand that it provides quicker cooling due to evaporation from the wet cloth.You must have noticed specially in North India all the lassi stalls and drinking water places have a typical red cloth around them. I have also seen wet gunny cloth(sack cloth) being used for the same. Oil bath is definitely good . I remember my Mil always used to soak a few methi seeds in the coconut oil bottle to apply for hair. (she had lovely long hair even in her eighties)!

In North India the heat is extreme and it radiates so they cover matkas with wet cloth .Maybe not that required in southern states

Never knew the tip about the sandalwood powder. I always assumed it was good for the skin’s complexion. Now I’ll know it also helps to cool down our bodies besides the skin tone benefits. Thank you. 🙏

Thank you GITA for the very gentle and sweet reminders which one may forget in the ‘heat of the moment’. We both share the same hot location city ie we live in Hyderabad. I follow all the tips except the matka water. Another excellent cooling drink is mango panna drink. We have a mango at home which yields nearly 1000 fruits every year , so I make this quite often. Also one can do sheetali pranayama which is an instant cooler.. Avoid fried foods. Now and then Bhagavan gives us a respite too via thundershowers !🙂

Great tips Gitaji, especially loved your tips on having an early start to the day & using sandalwood paste 👍👍 2 more tips that I use are: (1) Soaking vetiver in water & drinking that. (2) Using soaked Almond gum (Badam pisin) in my nimbu-pani, rose sherbet or falooda. It's a great alternative to using jellies with additives. Both vetiver & almond gum are super coolants.

When you say it's a gentle reminder I feel very emotional . Though we all know all what you say but you can very well understand when an elderly person say to take care it really matters. The word take care likewise had no effect but when said by affection it does matter. Thank you for this motherly touch . My soulful pranam . 🙇

Hi Gita ...nice tips...im quite curious sbout sandalwood...once ,few years back i had tried applying white sandalwood daily on my face for good complexion ...& ended up having extremely dry skin...whereby i had to visit a skin doctor to treat it...& i was cured with d creams etc he suggested.. After dat i haven't touched d sandal wood block in my house My doctor said i had used excessivly hence d dryness I still have a liking for sandalwood...which one is best d redone or d white one...& of course ill take care to use sparingly😀
@GitasKitchen5 жыл бұрын
Try making pure sandal paste at home by rubbing a sandalwood stone with water. else, add milk to sandal powder and use it will help to reduce dryness too.
