Join me as I hike in 13 miles to explore the River Lugg - a Wye tributary via the Glyndwr's Way on my birthday. Starting in the town if Knighton I make it to camp one after a wet afternoon. Situated in a conifer plantation it made for a great wind break yards away from a special meeting place 10 years earlier. My birthday morning was magic. I opened a surprise card and stealthily dodged some invaders. All good for the day ahead.

Quick facts:
The Lugg is the largest tributary of the River Wye and flows for 63 miles.
It starts on Pool Hill in the Radnor Forest and enters the Wye 4 miles East of Hereford.
The tops nearby its source are heather clad and home to ground nesting birds such as Curlew, Grouse, Lapwing and Golden Plover.
It's health has recently been called into question and is the source of much debate regarding the health of the Wye system overall.
