Ben- I can’t thank you enough for this podcast. My wife is having serious gut issues right now with H-pilori. It has been amazing to watch her food cravings change because her body wants to heal itself. She has been craving vegetables. I hope she listens to this podcast! Thanks again Travis

A lot of us have H-pilori in our gut, 50% in fact.

"the higher the protein, the greater the all cause mortality, especially from cancer" - but some research does not show this effect for plant protein (unless perhaps you combine the plant proteins in a way that mimics the amino acid profile of animal protein).

So 0.8 g per KG is his 'minimum effective dose for health and longevity"? I'm 37 min in and I don't think he out and out said "my minimum effective dose of protein is ___"
@hanksimon36196 жыл бұрын
rainman11985 Yeah he seems to have tried to avoid being specific regarding protein, doesn’t really give listeners confidence in what he claims to know

I think he's theory on keto causing problems in women long term has been shown to be due to veery low calories not keto diet
@HaZeNathan6 жыл бұрын
yea dom d'agostino talks about that. Due to the satiating nature of keto it usually turns into a calorie deficit diet for most people that dont smoke weed

Not true. I was eating a lot (whole pork bellies too) and the Reverse T3 problems creeped up after 2 months of being in ketosis. It took me 5 months to get better and convince my body to not hibernate. SOME women have genetics that make them fall into a kind of hibernation instead of the body giving up fat to burn as fuel. That's the kind that they don't do well on keto.

Garlic, onion, broccoli and spinach should be eaten row or cooked?
@JD-xm3mg5 жыл бұрын
None of the above
@EugeniaLoli5 жыл бұрын
Broccoli is best cooked, due to the impact it has raw on the thyroid. The rest, raw are fine. In fact, garlic and onion lose their therapeutic abilities when cooked.

If what he was saying was true then isolated groups around the world would have a lot of cancer which isn’t what Weston Price discovered in the early 1900’s
@hanksimon36196 жыл бұрын
My question regarding studies of protein has to do with eating protein and carbs in one meal. I am reading the book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston Price. An article I read regarding sarcopenia suggested elderly people with it should avoid carbs due to negative impacts it has on protein digestion and absorption. Organ meats seem to be more bioavailable than plants like the liver

No.

Unless you subsist on a diet of pure sugar, carbs in their unrefined state are always coupled naturally with protein, so it is impossible to consume carbs without protein (unless it is refined sugar). Even fruits contain protein (and not a trivial amount on a grams per thousand calories basis). A high protein diet is often recommended for older people who normally develop sarcopenia with age, but sarcopenia can also be prevented or minimized with resistance exercise rather than gorging on protein. People tend to exercise less with age, but if anything exercise becomes more, not less, important with age. It is young people in their 20s who can get away with bad habits for a while, yet people have the idea that exercise is something for the young to do perhaps because everyone is better at it at that age.
