Just gonna add that this is also very similar to French , Also from what little i know , Dutch and Russian . It's possible that interjection for some reasons are quite universal

Yep, can confirm it's almost the same in French. We don't think of our western languages as tonal but we definitely use tone to convey information too ! Face expressions and body language are very similar across all humans as well.

Matthew Bowler Hi! You can try searching the Chinese movie or show you want to watch and then type “中英雙語字幕(中英双语字幕)” or “雙語字幕(双语字幕)” with it to see whether there are some results! :)

These are just sounds that anyone in any language can make. Most of these occur in every language. These sounds existed since the dawn of language, as they’re just basic forms of communication and not entirely Chinese at all. Some of these are quite Chinese-esque but to devote an entire video to such common human noises is interesting.

i didn't realise how many times i use 嗯 till my friends pointed out i use it instead of just saying yes. the same with 哎呦 when i almost fall or drop stuff (this happens quite often because im VERY clumsy)

Fun fact in Mexico as well ,we use a word very similar like 喂 ,but we write and say "wey" . And this is use to call or name to someone , specifically to a friend lol.

2:13 show '嗯' is a very typical modal particle. if two American Girls talk each other in phone. they will say 'OK' 'OK' 'OK' if two Chnese Girls talk each other in phone. they will say '嗯' '嗯' '嗯'

great films Grace MC. In England, I think amongst young people, they only know 1 filler word. 'Like'. I like so like like like liking the like word like, like?! (the upward inflection at the end just to annoy completely!) haha
