I had a 1985 Ford Econoline 250 that had the 4.9 inline 300 six cylinder that had well over 500,000 miles on it when I sold it, it still ran perfectly. Now I have a 2008 F150 that has the 4.2 V6 & it has 210,000 miles on it as of today, knock on wood it's still running strong.

Got a 1990 Mitsub. TP Magna Wagon. Just on 500Ks. Bought it back in July '07 for four hundred Aussie dollars. Never broken down. Never had the head off. Still gets about 24 mpg around town. Oldie but a goldie. You can keep all these 'modern' numbers. And you can pay the eye watering costs to keep them on the road!

My dad has a truck, 76, E150, 300 Inline 6, 3 on the tree, still running good, same engine. Only rebuilt 1 time. My brother has it. Been repainted 1 time. Still in good shape and drivable.

I had a Toyota Corolla with a 22r that had a power band like a dirt bike after 70 mph. to 120mph like a scalded cat. I would give Chevy 350's a run. And it had 500k miles.

Here in Britain we tend to use more diesel cars as our fuel is a lot more expensive than in the USA and diesels are much more economical. In 2009 I bought a 2007 Audi A6 2.0TDi with 17,000 miles on it, had it remapped from 140BHP to 170 and then ran it up to 332,000 miles before someone smashed into the side of it in 2022 and wrote it off. The engine was original and used no more oil than when I bought it, oil changes about every 18k miles as the computer requested. It was just as quiet, smooth and lively as the day I bought it. It had no DPF but the last smoke test reading at 320,000 miles was 0.09 with a pass being below 3.0. Needless to say I bought another Audi diesel, 88,000 miles so far, hardly run in yet!

My sister brought two Lexas one EX350 and other SUV both brand news. She kept them well maintained per dealer Spec. She put a lot of mileage (93K) on ES350 after 4 years but had no trouble selling this car for $13K as a savage value in the book. She is retired now and can no longer afford another one so she probably keep this SUV that currently has 75K until she die!

When they said Toyota 22R Yea right, my friend had a 4Runner with a 22R and it threw the time chain at 120K miles or so then he said a timing chain at 100K, LOL. My brother has 7.3 in a F350 with 300K on it and it is still running good.

I had an 1974 Pontiac Ventura that I got 20 years and 623,000 miles out of it before someone ran a red light and totaled it. I used it at night to go to work and my wife used it during the day for kids. etc. I could do all the maintaince on it with help from a auto book. Now unless you have a $4000 or more computer to see what is wrong on a new car for get it. you used to be able to just get the part, now you have to buy the whole component at much more $$$$$.

I noticed that nothing was mentioned about toyota's 5vz fe engine. That specific engine is on my 2000 toyota prado and has done some 410,000 kilometers and stiff drivers like it's still new.

Yep, act like an engine is all that makes a car work… that’s not all that makes a car reliable. Almost all of these engines are paired with trash transmissions which makes these durable engines essentially useless. Also, a turbo is pat of the engine essentially so all these turbocharged engines need turbos at 100k to 150k. That isn’t so long lasting now.

Electric cars are not the answer. US jobs will come back. The Japanese have a manufacturing shop here. Tariffs won't hurt them. BMW Mercedes also can produce vehicles here in the United States although the quality would not be as great as the domestic ones in Germany or in Europe. But made in America is and should be meaningful.

There nothing grate about these numbers at all. The old Toyota 2.2 Isuzu 1.9 and 2.5 and Datsun 1.7 and 1.9 Would routinely go 200,000 - 400,000 in the 70s and 80's while getting 28- 36 mpg
