When I got married we spent about $400 to rent a community center with space for a hundred, and we spent a similar amount for catered casual food. Some of our guests said it was the most fun wedding they ever went to. We made the vows fun, and the music too.

That’s nice. I always thought my ideal wedding was too lavish but compared to what some of my friends think I’m clearly more realistic. I plan on doing it in the town hall cos it’s cheaper than most churches and there’s dresses that are like £200 and if you have friends willing to cook for you and buy a £50 cake there’s way one can spend more than £5000. It seems more sensible than spending a whole year of university fees for ONE DAY.
@BasementBerean3 жыл бұрын
@@MB-nb7yq I forgot, my wife wore her mother's wedding dress, which was incredibly beautiful, so no out-of-pocket for that. My largest expense was her ring. I got her a smaller diamond, but the stone graded as near perfect. (Don't be fooled into buying a large diamond that has flaws. Many people do this. It's not the size of the diamond that matter so much as the grade.) You can see that rock sparkle from many feet away. That kind of thing goes up in value.

Yes, because they want to secure the future of their children and to have it all ready made for them to start a family. FYI, weddings in France are legally done in courthouses as pastors and priests don't have the legal authority to marry a couple in churches. If a couple decides to have a wedding ceremony in a church, it's for ceremonial purposes only after they had been legally wedded in a courthouse. Therefore, church weddings and wedding receptions are totally optional in France. I think many other countries in Continental Western Europe are like that.

There’s a fallacy in the first one. Generally people with cheaper weddings are More likely to be poorer. Divorces can be quite expensive and most would just stay together rather than waste that money. Richer couples don’t have to worry about the cost of a divorce so it’s no problem
@TomikaKelly4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Correlation isnt causation. Poorer people also tend to be more religious and more religious people are more likely to stay together, regardless of how happy (or unhappy) the marriage is.

The most ridiculous thing I've seen on a registry has been one of those old-style, sorta/kinda rug toilet seat covers. IDK why my college buddy had it on her registry, but OF COURSE I had to get it for her. She was annoyed that I did that, until I pointed out that....well.....YOU put it on there, so, I just got what you wanted!! I was a little surprised that she didn't "return the favor" when I got married. I didn't have a registry (we pretty much had everything by then, since we had been single for a while.) Didn't have wedding favors, lots of bridesmaids/groomsmen, or even a cake. We popped for a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant for our small party of 30, and enjoyed the hell out of our wedding day for about 5k. Still together 25 years later, and no regrets!!

Same!! I am in the luxury wedding and event industry. I could NEVER follow this advice. What I will say, however, is depending on your city if venues are extremely expensive in your area you can find a standard venue and do wall to wall white draping if itll be less expensive than a pricey venue in your area. That'll allocate more of the budget to other areas of the wedding, a honeymoon, or a down payment on a house.

Does anyone else think the writer of this script hasn’t had any real experience with luxury weddings? I know I’m biased towards wanting to work and experience an elegant life (ie - what the description of this KZbin channel currently stands for 👀), but I really think if people value the finer things in life, and value putting on an actual high-end event to give back to their closest family and friends, they’d probably be happy to- at least one time in their life. In the same way that some people value having a Rolex, luxury is in spending on your finer values.
@TomikaKelly4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It depends on your values and being in the luxury wedding industry myself I believe in spending on your dream wedding. Now, if your dream wedding is a backyard rustic experience then by all means, live your dreams, however; if your dream wedding is a St. Regis or Four Seasons Hotel venue with a renown photographer and videographer, endless florals, and a stunning custom gown, then you should be able to look back on your wedding and know you absolutely loved it.
