Social anxiety is more than shyness
Social anxiety is different from introversion
Social anxiety is an intense, persistent fear of being watched and judged by others
Manage time effectively so you are not rushed or overwhelmed
Be prepared
Guided imagery and rehearsal
Examine the facts and probability
Of the worst case scenario
Decide what is most likely to happen
That people’s reactions actually have to do with you (3 alternatives)
Develop boundaries and assertiveness
Get support (social buffers)
Silence the inner critic (thought stopping, backtalk)
Develop distress tolerance skills to reduce your fight or flight reaction and get into your wise mind (BATS (Breathing, Activities, Thought Stopping, Sensations ))
Reduce stimulants
Keep a log to identify vulnerabilities (people, places, situations, physical status) and develop a plan to address those vulnerabilities
Stay in the present. Bad situations do not have to repeat
Improve self-esteem to reduce the need for external validation
Compare yourself to others… Everybody makes gaffes and faux pas
Identify your core beliefs and “musts” that contribute to your anxiety
Desensitization

This is exactly what I was just doing for college this week. My mom was making my anxiety worse, telling me "No it's okay they won't do that, or this" etc etc, when I would say "I want to go ask if this class allows laptops, and if this class does this or that"- She would continue to try to stop me. I did not realize that this was my coping mechanism for social anxiety, but that's exactly what it is. I ALWAYS try to explore everything before I actually go there, I always try to be prepared, it settles me down so much. I can now better explain to her how I feel, and that she, and anyone else, needs to let me be, and let me handle things how I need to handle them. Just wrote this message out primarily for anyone else who is being questioned or judged about your methods, from others- It's your life, do not feel embarrassed for wanting to be prepared. Other people may find it easier to relax, but you may not, and there's nothing wrong with that. Do what you need to do

I have loads of anxiety, I am 44 with a 4-year-old and she's just started school, I broke down in tears when I got home with the level of people that were waiting to take their children into school. MY GOD how do I deal with that. it's so overwhelming. 😭

Oh my God you are not alone. I am 44 and my daughter is more less nervous around people than me. I have a kind of social anxiety we're if I'm in the self check-out line and the line is facing me and they can watch me ring up my groceries my hand shakes so bad that I can barely put the money in the machine and for the simple fact that I know that they can see my hands shaking sometimes it's so bad to where I just want to leave my groceries right there and walk out. Sometimes I have my eleven-year-old daughter to finish my order and I will act like I have to use the restroom real bad. It's crazy because I love people I'm very kind and if I see someone with social anxiety and they appear nervous by being watched I will not watch them I will turn my head or I will get up and leave just so that they can feel comfortable. Anyway if there is anyone who has this kind of social anxiety can you please share your experience so that I won't feel crazy🙏🏿💚💚💚

I was supposed to go to a battle site tour today but when I got there I saw the huge group of about 100 males and I could not bring myself to do it. I was crippled by my anxiety and then I felt guilty for signing up and not doing it. I don’t like to let worry or fear keep me from doing things. I don’t have anything diagnosed but this makes some sense, thank you for the interventions. It makes me feel less crazy and irrational to hear someone describe what I experience.

I am 44 years old and I have the kind of social anxiety where I fear being watched sometimes. If I start my day off right and my thinking process is healthy I forget I have social anxiety and before I know it I'm being a social butterfly and it comes to me later that wow I wasn't even nervous. But if my thinking process is out of whack I can think myself into a nervous breakdown sometimes I hate being watched. Social anxiety does not discriminate. I am tall so never let a tall person intimidate you but at the same time if I noticed someone it's nervous from being watched I will not look at them I would do anything to make them feel comfortable. Anyway your video gave me a lot of tips thank you so much🙏🏿💚

@@Sunflo07H The best advice I can give is to visit psychologist. What helped me is to go out to deserted places and try to absolutely relax there(you can also do some stupid things there like dancing and singing, or scream and shout). The thing is to get a adrenalin relief, also I do this right before important meetings to decrease level of stress. Then slowly start to go to places with more and more people and make sure you can handle certain amount of people on certain distance. Then you can try to talk to a consultant in the shop and etc. Basically, your confidence is a muscle that need to be trained to stay strong🙂 I take only Magnesium.

@@Sunflo07H Oh Im so sorry to hear this! You defenitely have to change your psychologist, mine helped me a lot and didn't place me any medication at all. Another thing I can recommend is to stop consuming sugar, it will decrease your anxiety too, but may make you more depressive at the beginning. Also, it is important to stop making other people better than you in your thoughts, may be it is a little toxic, but you can find some imperfection about their look or behavior in your head, think something mean in your head or use some swear words😂. It usually helps me to make everyone less important.

This is really embarrassing so I hope that if you do read this that you are polite. Okay so one of my biggest fears (started around January of 2022) is I’m scared of vomiting, farting, and my stomach growling (bc I get hungry during class). Sometimes the fear is so big that I start to sweat, find it hard to breathe and my heart starts to beat in a weird way (it feels like I’m going to die). The worse is when it’s really quiet and I can hear my loud grumbles and hoping that ppl don’t think it’s a fart. And also when it’s quiet it’s usually testing time so it makes it hard to concentrate even when I’m confident about my knowledge of the topic. Also yes ik they are normal bodily functions, it’s just an irrational fear. Anyways I’m going to school next month and tho I already have some things that help (taking a break to breath outside or drawing) I just really hope that this fear is fully gone bc I do just fine at home (it’s not a stomach issue but a more of the fear that causes it) . I’m open to any suggestions or if you have a similar problem it would be nice to talk!
