I think the NPs have humor that is centered around irony in a way I have observed for NTPs, it can be through very subtle details in the way they speak and say things that, in context, somewhat bashes their own point While for NFPs, it’s usually through inside jokes and references where they put their points of view or beliefs into question and skepticism but ultimately still ignores those skepticism
@pmj_studio40653 жыл бұрын
Yes, irony. Or even better, "post-irony" - making fun of an unfunny joke, multiple layer irony, or sometimes so many layers of irony that the "funny" part is you don't know whether it's a joke or not. Overall making fun of people's reaction to multi-layer irony told with a completely straight face, rather than actual funny jokes.

@@laszlo_kovacs That gave me a slight smile nice pun you hid there but for me as an ISTP it is difficult going to funerals because you see everyone you care about (Aka family) being very sad to the point that I feel ashamed of not being emotional or rather, not as much as the others, and the primary emotion comes from seeing so many people I care about sad, it is sort of an awkward experience that I would rather avoid but I know that It's disrespectfull to avoid a funeral so I tend to be there whenever possible but It's like the worst place to be.

ENTJ here. Dark humour is pretty much my schtick when it comes to comedy. I'm drawn to fucked up events and possible scenarios. I like to laugh at others' expense and also my own. Anything inappropriate and dark is hilarious to me. I will often say things out loud that is not considered 'socially acceptable', which I guess stems from a lack of Fe and low Fi. Comedy ought to push the limits. Feelings, conventions and what people consider sacred ought not to be spared. Everything is on the chopping block.

ENTPs do comedy that’s above so many peoples heads and they use those people who don’t understand it, as PART of their joke and it’s absolutely hilarious! They also go right along with everything everyone says and they twist it and warp it until the other person is either on the floor holding their belly, laughing, or they’re storming off in frustration. I absolutely love, love, LOOOOVE the ENTP humour! They pretend to not understand things they do and they present themselves as goof balls which incorrectly (and sometimes comically fatal for the other) leads the other to believe they’re not as intelligent as they are, so as the other is “teaching” them things, they just mess with the person more and more and more. They don’t seem to give a single hoot, that they’re likely making the other person think negatively of them. I think for them, the comical experience is worth the hit to their personal image. So funny.

I fricken cackled at INTP and INTJ. There are 3 INTPs in the house here, with me being one of them, and one lone ISFJ, whose...uh...significant idiosyncrasies lead to an awful lot of playful roasts. Funnily enough she's also mastering the art of the roast, but interestingly it is indeed through the lens of a story (or a specific context). Likewise the two other INTPs can quickly follow when I've launched a meta roast, but the ISFJ is left either scratching her head or getting annoyed at the left of field bullshit.

As an INFP, the best way I think I can describe my humor is by seeing what others aren’t paying attention to and, sometimes through satire, pointing out random characteristics of things that most people are not noticing at a specific moment, but people can agree on nonetheless, when people least expect it. For example, if I see a rolled up black blanket, I might (with a serious demeanor) call it a “ big black sausage” instead of “a blanket”. People will then see what they did not see before, that the blanket looks like a sausage, and often times will find that sort of thing to be humorous. This type of humor is usually funniest if the atmosphere is serious and no one expected a humorous comment. It’s all about finding unexpected funniness in seemingly mundane things.

I'm an INTJ, and I have a very strange relationship with humor. It is very often that I'll say something without the intent of humor, and it will get a laugh. Like the phrase, "Yeah, I think you're totally wrong" will be received as a joke to others. It's surprising to me when it happens, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a little bit fun. I think this is probably because it's unexpected. My humor is super to-the-point, and I don't like cinematics that make things seem funny. I suppose it is my stereotypical "bluntness" that is refreshingly funny for some people.

About ISTPs being cool with causing awkwardness, I have some objections. Having Fe inf means being vulnerable to negative input and/or feedback in that area (similar to Se for an INFJ). The ISTP I knew placed way more importance on what people might think of them than me, an Fe-aux. Because it was a vulnerable spot, less mastered and less trusted, closer to the Shadow. They might drop their infrequent jokes in the company of people they know and trust, I guess (if they exceptionally feel like it).

INTP with ISTP sister It was spot on for her though it tends to go through her explaining the joke and if it works i summarize it to 1-2 liners that she would l like or improvize and keep in her brain and drop those bombs when time comes. Maybe turning it to an inside joke, and of course the jokes are dark. She gets better each time creating better jokes I dont need to revise. We usually joke about our behaviour or when we show that extra emotion. We would hype each other if it happens then point out what to change to make it seem real or fits the theme then eventually laugh then subside since we will get tired fast then continue to mind own businesses. For me rather than roast its kind of refining the existing jokes is what i do- which i think lowkeys plagiarize and roast their already existing joke... it goes to them liking the revised version or its just awkward. I also become that added joke after an existing one. I used to roast but only rarely now.

As an INTJ I'm good at roasting. In a way that people ask my help to roasting others :D . And i recently found I'm also good at dark humors, but i only make them when i feel safe (around my trusted friends).

You've perfectly captured my whole family's humor. My ISTP dad and ESFP sister sometimes tag-team a topic and make it as hilariously depraved as possible. My ISFJ mom and I (ENFP) usually take a small scenario that she expands while I embellish it. You, sir, have hit the nail on the head.

INFP with surrealist/referential humour, with some dark/dirty humour in there. I'm that type of person that makes my own mum say my full first name in disgust and shock, and my dad's just there like "ha!". My dad thought I was humourless until I brought in the dark side because he just never got the surrealism I used. Even my own friends, who do get the surrealism, don't get the references, so will be like "... yes." I keep being called out for using stuff from the "dark corners of the internet", which in reality aren't even that dark, they're just not known to them personally. I am trying to use more easily known stuff, but it seems quite bland.

I'm a very punny INFP. I also like to extract humor from what I see and hear. I love word play. I do have some dark humor not a lot. I do love dark humor slapstick outrageous witty and dry. However if you really want to know who I think was the funniest man alive that would be Robin Williams. I think all types can do all of them. However we may be especially gifted in one or two. My humor tends to be more playful. I want to know if the humor you are most drawn to that have to do with what humor you good at. You would have to spend time with me to know 😁

My father is INFP and everyone who knows him finds him to be absolutely hysterical. I also find his sense of humour finny but not like everyone else does! He’s also SUPER punny! But a lot more than just that. People have expressed to me, that his incredible and unique way is what they love so much about his sense of humour. He tells stories as though they’re true. I could always tell when he was joking but one of my siblings couldn’t and she corrected a client about something once, that she thought she had “learned” from our dad, but it was a joke and she was sooo embarrassed and even got mad at him for it😂now we all just laugh about it!

He probably was ENTP though

Lolita Nyan - well, I mean, he’s still alive😆 and still one of the most extreme introverts I’ve ever met. I don’t think he’s ENTP. My ex husband is ENTP and my father was the only person I’ve ever seen be able to shake my ex husband. It was weird. He’s normally made of crazy strong armour but boy oh boy, did my dad ever get to him with just one quick strike. I wish I could tell the story but this comment is long enough. Oh! Plus my dad has that super sweet, mystical INFP look/vibe about him. My ex husband has a fun and cheeky look/vibe about him😆

@@janeofthejungle4 I was referring to R.Williams lol But yeah, lots of ENTPs are and get mistyped as NF types all the time. The silly stereotypes turn many off and make them view the ENTP as a jester, joker, troll, debater, inventer... Yet there are many varieties of them, including Empath, HSP, Gifted, Autistic... See the gifted Williams who was and still is routinely filed under NF just cause his neurotype made him deeply emotional.

Omg, that was so spot on for me, an INFP! I'm always impersonating or creating some kind of humorous character, when i'm in a good mood. Me and my mom like to give our dogs quirky personalities and have fun playing with what they are thinking. I guess she's an ENFP...
