@@jag5014 Simply put, it’s just different for women. While growing out a beard or not is a choice for men, shaving is a beauty standard that’s forced on women. So it becomes less about personal preference for us because men think it’s just what we’re “supposed” to do

There is too much back-and-forth and too little commitment. As Nick said, we’re inherently afraid of each other because one can still face rejection once you meet in person, even if there was a connection via text or phone. The number of people I met in the early days of the personals in the alternative papers and, later, the Internet when it was just Match or eHarmony who showed up completely altered from their photos never failed to amaze me.

For the second caller (and any other women considering stopping a shaving routine): I am WITH you. I don’t shave for the same reasons but sensitive skin or not, your husband just needs to get over it and maybe examine within himself why he sees body hair on an adult woman as an issue at all. And I’m not saying I think he’s a bad person but I feel like if every man truly examined why beauty standards for women are the way they are, would they still agree with them and why? No matter what though, our bodies are ours and we’re the only ones who get the final say on their appearance

I relate so much to Jack. I absolutely cannot do dating apps, I've tried. The issue is I'm not attracted to looks, I'm attracted to personality. Dating apps are so heavily based off looks that it gives me anxiety. I can be talking to a conventionally attractive guy and feel nothing.. But when I meet the weird lookin barista and think he's funny? I'm in love. I have no type and have no idea how to swipe based off looks and a little blurb. I also don't ever go out lol.. I work.. At a homeless shelter.. And I'm the boss so can't date coworkers. I'm stuck!
@Naejakire3 Жыл бұрын
And speaking of homeless shelter.. He said he volunteers at a family shelter.. Nonprofits are so much more strict about any perceived harassment so he absolutely cannot ask another volunteer out. She would have to ask him or he would have to hang out as friends first. If she wasn't into it, he would be asked to not come back. If she is? It's all good. Really difficult.

I think you can have all the hair you want as long as you continue to smell nice. And it's more tedious to keep body hair smelling nice, than it is to be rid of it permanently. If the guy doesn't like body hair, pay for it to be removed, since she is clearly exhausted with trying to manage it.
@Colbzzk2 жыл бұрын
I would’ve also suggested possibly laser hair removal so she doesn’t have to shave or feel uncomforted when it grows back but if she actually just likes having hair and that’s her preference then maybe just some trimming to make her husband happy? Marriage is about compromise, and if she hid it in the beginning that’s not really fair to him.

I don’t get it, people like him because he sounds like he’s bored? He has a deeper voice, but it’s not particularly sexy. I feel like it’s so much easier for men. Women over 35 are basically invisible on apps even though if we were men, we’d be considered the most eligible and hottest thing. I have so much to offer, am in shape, etc, but men are obsessed with numbers (age) and finding a breeding cow. No one should care if someone wants kids or not. If you don’t find the right partner, it doesn’t matter. As a woman, I also don’t like back and forth because I think men are just practicing conversing with me and then never ask me out (instead, they probably see a 20 year old blonde woman). I don’t want to be practice.

It's not about feminism or the patriarchy. It's about the bait and switch on your husband, who you love with something that gives him specially, not men or society in general, the ick and it turns him off. If she's so far into the neo feminism rabbit hole that her husband's sexual desires and attraction to her just doesn't matter or mean anything to her anymore. I think it's time for some couples therapy and if she continues refuse to even acknowledge that she cares about him and what he wants at all, then it's time for a divorce. It's not fair to become a new person 10 months after having a baby with them and demand they love the new you equally. That's entrapment and maybe, actually insane. I really don't understand this callousness and lack of empathy towards ALL men's even smallest and most reasonable feelings and desires. Especially towards the men in their own family. It's sad and I'm glad Natasha was the only one to sort of graze over this exact point. I have no idea how she feels about it in detail and am not saying she is on my side of this. But if I were to guess by her reaction and responses that she at least understands my point of view. Sorry for the novel. In case you read this. Whatcha think Nat and Moshe?

@Pandi-Fackler2 жыл бұрын
But it IS about men and society in general. For thousands of years no one gave a shit if women shaved or not but now thanks to the patriarchy’s desperate attempts to control us in any meaningless way possible, shaving has become the norm for women. And please, no one “becomes a new person” by choosing to keep their body hair or not. After all, it’s literally just hair. Something literally all of us naturally have at a point in the exact same places. So in other words, what person who’s brain hasn’t been poisoned by years of patriarchal conditioning cares?
@sambosworth63312 жыл бұрын
@@Pandi-Fackler I don't think you understand my point. The bait and switch is the problem. And switching to something the person you love finds unattractive. You can't choose what gives you the ick. But you can choose what you do with yourself for the people you love. For thousands of years no one cared about long toenails and feeling them in the night as you slept with your partner. But when we advanced as a society we made certain agreements with each other. We take care of the parts of our bodies that give our loved ones the ick. And we don't bait and switch such things in a relationship. I wouldn't all of a sudden stop clipping my toenails, and expect them to stay under control because I'll walk around barefoot like our ancestors did. And do that because it feels good to be connected with my natural body. After 10 years of clipping them my partner might be disgusted or even feel them in bed at night. Just like the leg hair. I'd clip my nails for my wife if she was disgusted by them and I'd hope my wife would shave if I was actually disgusted by her thing. It's a give and take with mutual respect for each others bodies and how they affect our love lives. And the main point is the bait and switch after years which I think you totally missed. To be honest, it seems like you search for a representation of a patriarchy in places where there isn't one. Check out some videos from JustPearlyThings and maybe we can have an intelligent conversation about men and women; and what's acceptable vs not, and which of those things are objective and which are on an individual basis. Because it seems like you don't have a full grasp on those things based on your reply.
@Pandi-Fackler2 жыл бұрын
@@sambosworth6331 I think I understand more than you do about it because as I said before, it’s literally just body hair. It has nothing to do with who anybody is as a person so no bait and switch has taken place. I’d urge you to look into why you think women are dirty when they don’t shave because clearly that same logic isn’t being applied to men
@sambosworth63312 жыл бұрын
@@Pandi-Fackler Wow. Thanks for proving my point that you don't understand what I'm saying, by telling me that "I think women are dirty" And thank you for proving my other point that you look for patriarchy where there is none. Because if you read what I wrote, I focused on a MAN'S possible issue to use as an example to speak about agreements and bait and switches in relationships. And did you even watch the show? The man AND his wife confirmed that it was a bait and switch because she did it for years in the beginning of the relationship. Now they are 10 years in with two kids and she suddenly stops. That's why my toenail analogy works. And now I'm sure you either didn't read what I wrote or watch the video. Or you are so angry right now that the actual facts of the situation no longer matter, and you picked me, to scream at the patriarchy through some guy on KZbin. Drink a cup of tea or smoke a bowl and relax. Watch the video we are both commenting on, read all my comments. Watch two or three @JustPearlyThings videos. And maybe we can have a discussion on a level playing field. But I imagine you are a social justice studies type. So I doubt you will actually read the source material
