Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in... This week it is time to move the 1959 Buick LeSabre inside and get to work stripping the rest of the bits off the front end... Then, Bunny and I are going to finish the reassembly of the Dynaflow transmission! There sure are lots of pieces, haha... Tom stopped in and had just seen a program about lowriders and the crazy paint they get; I enjoyed his thoughts on the cars and paint jobs...

Tom will tell you... I've been watching you and your buddies for years working and clowning around while accomplishing some masterful looking vehicles made from rusted junk. The finished products are beautiful but the thing that the most precious is the camaraderie. When you get to be our age (Tom & Mine) and you're pretty much the only one left from that old gang of yours, you'll reflect upon the scenes you're presently doing here in this video and smile with nostalgia with just a slight glistening welling in the corner of your eyes. Continue on my friend.

The automotive world is vastly different today for the shade tree tinkerer and for the people who would get together and tackle projects like on CWM. My upcoming birthday will have me turning seventy and I find myself getting nostalgic for the past and the fun it used to be to work on easy-to-work-on-cars.

I am younger than you are but am about the same age as Scott and unfortunately working on cars is in the past for me. My body has given out worse than the original bottom of the 60 Fury and funds are even worse, so can't buy parts or hire work done. (take my advice and don't count on Social Security being enough to live on -- I get less than $1K a month to live on.)

@briquetaverne: I thought I was reading something I wrote. My feelings and sentiments and exactly why I'm here. I, too, am pretty much the only one left of my car friends of 50-60+ years ago scattered across 3 or more states of my 78 year history. The nostalgia, comraderie and banter definitely moisten the eyes and the feels leak out. And your two commenters also express my feelings and I'm sure the feelings of countless other old "back yard mechanics" who've seen working on their own stuff fall by the wayside obliterated by the technological complications of modern vehicles. And age makes it difficult to be crawling in, under and around cars and trucks today. But our weekly visits here make the world seem a little less hostile to our years of knowledge. The reality still hits that the cars we loved and worked on are from an era of simplicity that we shall never see again. Cheers and a salute to all who gather here...

PSA, if I may: It's with deep sadness that I pay respect to *Leanna* of *Phoenix Specialty Coatings* . Some of you know just how incredibly good she was at the craft of powder coatings, etc. and her dedication to perfection was truly awe-inspiring. Regrettably we lost her just yesterday, far too young, to her battle with cancer - something I'm far too familiar with myself. To have known her was a blessing. Prayers and Condolences to those she leaves behind and I guarantee the pearly gates are going to get one heck of a powder coating. *Thank you* Leanna, you were a blessing when I needed one my friend. - Ed on the Ridge

Another fine episode! Tom needs to have a lowrider. ;) It's good that you have a trasnmission guru close by. :) I'll observe a moment of quiet reflection for the Gravely. If you don't fix it (which would be a sad thing) then you MUST pour a cement pad for it to rest on exactly where it expired. You could set up a form of shrine there so whenever Kyle Carter visits he can pay his respects. Stay warm in your Winter wonderland.

Allow me to toss in my two cents worth here. I too suffered a severe injury a number of years ago and let me tell you, the secret to getting yourself back together is to take it one step at a time and as slowly as you need to but don't stop making progress! Go day by day, and do a little bit every day towards improvement. Eventually, you'll get there. Don't be afraid to do those things that you may not have otherwise done such as stretching, walking, light weight work and even yoga. It's all about staying active and putting in a little bit more effort every day. You'll get there! All the best to you and yours!

LeSabre Hardtop really is quite something aesthetically. If you can remember the 1960s luxury motor yachts in the Mediterranean that film stars and other celebrities were frequently pictured enjoying themselves on, the LeSabre is the styling equivalent of that, especially the pillarless look and the wraparound rear windscreen.

Ahhh, CWM makes every weekend that much better. Diggin' the buick, dynaflow...I hate automatics but at the same time they're so damn fascinating and getting to see inside one, see it put together like that is a treat. If nothing else that powertrain is gonna be flawless. Sometimes simple shit can cascade big time. Went outside at 2pm today to change one headlight on my 71 C10.On a whim I decided I'd fire it up and listen to the dulcet tones of a happy ol' straight six ticking over at 600rpm while I did so. In the middle of changing the headlight the friggin rad just starts falling apart. Leak after leak, little pinholes everywhere. So what was supposed to be a 10-15 minute exercise in headlight replacement turned into a 4 hour debacle involving robbing a 1995 F150 of its radiator and waiting on someone to bring me some coolant. Ah well. All is fixed now. It ain't pretty, it ain't right, but it works and itt'l get me to work tomorrow just fine. Lucky lucky that the Ford 300 and Chev 250 have the water inlets, outlets at the same spots, thus the rads cooling them are set up the same as well.

I am glad you bag up and label everything that you take off the car, and also make a note of where parts go. Because, when the cam belt went on my wife's Nissan Figaro, Dave, the gentleman I met on the A1M after the clutch had gone on my '65 Humber and helped get it back on the road. Helped sort the cylinder head on the Fig, but took everything off the cylinder head, put all the bits in a box, whilst I put all the bits I was dealing with in containers and labeled all the pieces. When we put thing back together, he managed to leave lots of parts in the box, I spent hours looking in manuals and online finding out where the parts went. A complete pain in the bum and the car sounded like a pile of crap!

Scott you need to bang out the front of the hood on Myle's Newport. Just a light tidy to get the hood line straight. It's more offensive than the blown out rear rocker honestly 😅

I drove a couple of Dynaflow Buicks back in the 60's, cool constant shift. Had the starter button under the accelerator pedal too, doesn't get much slicker than that. Great to See Bunny and Tom😊.

Man that gearbox is a marvel of engineering! Love it! Well done Bunny for the great job, especially with he motor troll slowing her down:D PS make sure Dean sees my latest video on the Jaguar rebranding... He was my inspiration for that one... All the best from me and Indy.

I could tell by the squeaky crunch of the snow that it is cold. The colder it is the squeakier the snow gets. As for the Buick, I had a 59 flat top and my brother had a 60.

I always liked those old Buicks, but they weren't my favorites. Back then, I was an eight-year old Ford fan. It wasn't until I 'sat' in yours tonight that I got it. Yeah, that's very unique and cool. I think Miles got it, too.

RIP Gravely. Old mowers always cut it to the very end and did a great job doing it. Guessing it’ll be replaced with a chain gang behind the tractor with the Gnome missing a fine machine. On a good note, the Buick has all its gears, though one goes backwards and it’s inside. Few steps closer to fulfilling a childhood dream… Nothin could be finer than driving a ‘59er.

Ms. Bunny is an amazing transmission tech. This cannot be her first rodeo in the transmission world.

I hope that transmission is perfect and lasts forever. You guys have worked so hard on it and been so meticulous in disassembly and reassembly.

You and bunny did an awesome job with the transmission. (if I wrote the manual for it the first step would be "hang yourself) You're a couple of pros now. I enjoyed all the in the snow car rearranging also. You've got some great buddies. Now I have to go... I've got a top-secret delivery from Indiana arriving tonight.

Awesome work by the team! Quite a job to get the Buick in the nest but it opens it up for more work. And the cleaning begins. So nice to see the transmission slip back together. What a job Bunny did keeping things organized, providing good instruction, heck not to forget the cleaning! I know what that is like. It not an easy job. Hats off to Bunny!! Sorry to hear about the mower. I remember you using to move things before you got the tractor. It served you well!! Thank you all for sharing!!!

Great video Bunny did a great job on the dynaflow transmission I had a 1960 Invicta 2 door h/t gt I went through the same thing but banging my head against the wall in the process should not get stoned beforehand your shop assistant is definitely a keeper😊

6:47 - Should use this as your Winter Beater, starts right up in cold weather and snow won't stop it. Tractor Gnome getting ready for Christmas. And I think a screen grab of this moment will do for 2026 calendar if you do one, or your artist friend to do another painting. The lighting is perfect 👌 A painting like that will be epic for decades to come.
