1963-1967 Corvette Windshield and Trim Install (Round 2)

Hey guys and gals, welcome to my KZbin channel. This is the second time that I am putting in a new windshield in my 63.. We previously broke the old one putting on the trim. This time I changed up my technique and it was very successful!! Stick around to see how its done!

Thanks for the tips,glad to see what to expect installing the windshield by one self,interesting how those clips must fit or have damage glass.My 66 c2 hard top is waiting for installation will soon attempt this again thanks 😊

Hope it helped! The 63 windshield clips are unique to that year but the concept should be the same as the 66 clips. We learned that the clips need wiggle room to move the hard way lol.

MYMitch, you are talented and fearless guy. Looking to put glass in my 63 roadster. May I ask who you got yours from (Ecklers wanted 650 for shipping)? 75 sounds much better. I also would like tips on restoring the cookie sheets. Yours look perfect. Keep it up !

Thank you! I appreciate it. As for the cookie sheets check out my video on that. We made it probably a year and a half ago. I ordered my glass from auto city classic glass. Thank you for great video. I wish there would be about trim installation. I finf it wery frustrating on 67 coupe. I believe 64-67 coupes has different kind of windshield trim?

TheReinoPaasonen Thank you I’m glad that you enjoyed it! Sadly the trim is different on 64-67 cars so I don’t have any experience with that trim. Their clips are different also. My best advice is to figure out how the clips grab the trim. Then make sure they can move freely in the car so the trim can engage. That was our biggest problem.

So the clips must be installed not too tight?I plan to check fit before installing glass,and think your advice, its good idea to carefully install trim bottom and top first to avoid damaging glass

Hey Jeff. Do you mean gluing fiberglass panels together? I have a video on bonding the 60 Corvette back together. In a month or two I’ll be making videos on gluing my misfit split coupe together.

Why is good not latched

When I store the car I always leave the hood unlatched because the battery is disconnected. I have a video on a 78 that I bought that had an engine fire. They started the car with the hood latched and the carb caught on fire but the hood was stuck. The car burnt up. I always leave it unlatched to be sure that I can get to the engine compartment quickly in an emergency.

Those window gasket systems DO NOT get sealer or adhesives! If it's installed properly it WILL NOT leak. You're just making an ugly mess with that stuff

You’re wrong friend, this windshield requires the adhesive to be used. Unless you want to rust out the birds nest in the Vette.

Your definitely wrong friend. It needs liquid butyl most cars from this Era need it to prevent leaks since water can easily squeeze past the rubber gasket
