Very smartest man for the way how to work on old cars

This is how a 'How To' video ought to be... taking time to explain parts, where they go and how they fit, explaining the process involved, and all done slowly without skipping necessary points! A must-watch for all novices tackling this job. I'm working on my '67 fastback front suspension at the moment. Just had it media blasted so the whole thing is stripped and cream coloured, making it easy to see when test-fitting parts and working on. I'll be going with these Scott Drake components also. Thanks for the great vid! Looking forward to watching more in your series.

I just completed this same job on a 66 Comet. I used Moog parts from Autokrafters. Be careful cutting the coils, it's very easy to cut too much.

I did this but , when i put the spindle in the the upper it has a tilt to it inward, spindle is marked 60 108...When we got the car i could see the tire on top was tilted in (both sides) thats why I replaced the upper and lower and shocks hoping to correct this, but it did not can you tell me what I may have done wrong??? Maybe something was changed before I bought the car, IDK.....HELP PLZ

First question. Is the engine and transmission in the car? These cars seat awkwardly as you describe with no weight on them.

So I have to ask..I am probably going to change upper and lower control arms and on the lower, you have to remove the strut rod bolts...does that affect alignment (which is why you measured)? I ask because I watch a grab a trak video on it and he made it seem like you unbolt and slap it back together...I think some of these sales videos leave out details...Yes? So here is a thought since your position moved due to the fatter newer bushing. What IF, with the old lower control arm you marked a center spot on the front tip, used a plumb bob to the ground. That's your dead centerline yes? Now with the new one, mark its centerline and when that lines up with you mark on the ground, you would be adjusted ? Yes?
@JoDaddysGarage6 жыл бұрын
Any changes will require an alignment regardless. I probably provide more details than most people. I took the measurements so that I would be close to the previous alignment. That way I can drive it to a shop for a final alignment without causing more problems. Your idea may work, but I can't say for sure.
@arcorob6 жыл бұрын
Thought about this some more...so if one does not actually REMOVE the strut rods but simply unbolts from the lower control arm, there should not be a change unless the bolts for the low control arm had play, yes?
@JoDaddysGarage6 жыл бұрын
I would agree with that. Yes.

Not cotter pins, they're split pins. Cotter pins are solid, tapered, and flat on one side

+Jo Daddy's Garage Must be an American thing. Where I'm from a "cotter pin" is used to keep your bike pedal crank on the shaft. A "split pin" is used on castle nuts.
