The race you are about to see appear as originally broadcast and may contain imagery that is offensive and doesn't align with NASCAR's values. NASCAR has since permanently banned the display of the confederate flag at all events.

I was at this race. I still have the ticket stub. I was 10 years old and about the only detail I remember was after the race they let you walk up to victory lane and one of the crew members was polishing on the car and I remember how shiny gold the number 21 was.

My dad would run to his truck at 10 AM on July 4th. "Let's see who's gonna win the race!" 😁

The sound keeps on getting louder and quieter consistently. Can’t tell if it’s the video or my hardware .

NASCAR told Junior they were going to get rid of the big blocks so he switched to Chevy thinking they would be able to run the SBC - but other teams balked - so NASCAR started using different sized venturi on the carburetor based on which engine you ran - Boss 429 and Hemi 426 got the smallest - the 427 Chevy got a much bigger venturi since it had less racing pedigree in NASCAR - that's why Bobby blew by everyone to the lead early in the race - he probably had 30 HP on the rest of the field (but the BBC lacked all the well tested racing parts MOPAR and Ford had - so they were pretty easy to blow up)

The good ole days of racing a car you could actually buy at the dealership just stripped down for weight reduction
