I'm the owner. Bummed to have taken anything away from the review by not being enthusiastic enough. I am proud to be able to own one of the iconic cars of my youth, one at the top of my Dream Car list, but the adage "never meet your heroes" rings true for here. I'm a car guy through and through and spend all of my free time modifying, showing, and racing cars. My personality comes out more in the garage or on the race track than on camera. For those who wouldn't want to have a beer with me, first round is on me if you bump into me at the bar!

Awesome video, and car. My old man owned a 1980 930 turbo 3.3L (not slant nosed) in exactly the same colour albeit with green leather interior from new. Had some minor mods that helped it net 350-360hp. The only other way you could experience similar 'throw you back in your seat' acceleration back in those days was in a jet airplane taking off. Was amazing back in the day, but nothing special in this day in age. I believe the 4 speed was retained in the 930 turbo as the 5 speed couldn't reliably handle the torque.

not disputing that, the Porsche I drove was a great drive...but it is monotonous to see the same car being reviewed repeatedly. Yes, I know they are different from gen to gen in small ways...but still basically the same damn car. Also, Porsche's are so flawlessly good, they are not really exciting anyways...just perfectly competent.

Heads up Matt. This car has almost certainly been given a factory conversation. Check out the screen shot at 33 seconds. It has the correct but wonky looking elongated front profile. Notice how much of the plastic shroud between the hood and bumper are exposed. Most aftermarket examples tried to minimize this, making the car slightly shorter and arguably much better proportioned. The real test with this particular example would actually be the rear fender slats. They were made of wood from the factory, believe it or not. All the best in 2018 pal. Cheers, Michael.

Packrus Supra's are very capable GT handlers, most are simply not properly setup. The MKIV put down .98G on a skidpad on '93 tire technology and had a stopping distance from 70-0 in 158ft and from 60 in 112, something that wasn't beaten until Carrera GT. Definitely more than capable when properly setup in the right hands.

I had a gray-market 1985 930 for 11 months of the years 1987-88. The car certainly was not cheap, and getting it modified to meet US Spec cost a lot more than what most people claimed at that time. I was in debt up to my eyeballs, but I wanted a 5 speed after driving a new 1987 3.2L 911 Carrera Coupe. Porsche USA treated me like a heretic and would not even engage in conversation regarding a Porsche factory 5 speed being swapped in. Then I contacted the only RUF dealer that I could find in the USA (I do not remember where it was) and asked about the RUF 5 speed transmission... "It will swap in with ease" I was told. The price was $11,500.00 for the crate transmission and totaled out at $15,000.00 US delivered to an independent local shop which added $3,000.00 in labor, so $18,000.00 in 1988 to get a 4 speed swapped out for 5 speed!!! I don't even want to calculate the adjusted price for 2020. LOL Black Friday was catastrophic for me in many ways, so of course the 930 was sold.I lost around $5000.00 on less than one year of owning that car. Sure wish I could have thought of a way to keep it.
