1989 Nissan Skyline GTS-T // Gears and Gasoline

This week Driver Motorsports gave us a shot at their 1989 Nissan Skyline GTS-T. Everyone loves the GTR, but for those who've ever wished it was RWD or came with four-doors, the GTS is the way to go.
This GTS-T is an absolutely amazing car just to drive, and the Gears and Gasoline Evo was almost sold to make room for it. Stay tuned as we check out more of Driver Motorsport's JDM goodness.

Its sad that the gts t is underrated. It may not be fast as a Gtr version but its still a skyline and intresting car too.

Imo I like the R32 GTS-T more than the GTR because it's rwd. Also the Rb20det is very durable and can handle up to 450-500 bhp with stock internals, and it's very hard to blow since it has thick walls. It's a great car and fast too. It's just as fast as an S2000 in a straight line, which is pretty good. Keep them under rated so that prices can stay low.

Pfft lol. RB20 is honestly trash compared. The RB25DET model is a lot better, but honestly the poverty spec skylines arent really any better than any other boring 4 door sedan. it just looks like a skyline.

@@_Zekken rb20s aren't reallllly "trash", if you are comparing numbers to the bigger brothers then they are underwhelming sure. But I'm going from almost 10 years of driving trucks to a GTS-t, I'm fine with the 2.0 for now haha. You're point isn't totally invalid though, and that's why swaps are so popular

Reading the comments, others have said a bit more technical info already, so I won't harp on that. What I will say, is how very much America has missed out on the truly great JDM cars, for example, this Skyline GTS-T is actually pretty common where I'm from, I see one or two quite often, sometimes daily. My favorite old Nissan that was basically the same as the skyline, just different body panels, The A31 Cefiro (Altima), can be had AWD or RWD with either the RB20det or my favorite, the RB25det, and for vastly less than a skyline. The TTD conversion is avg 6 TTD to 1 USD. The average price of an R32 GTS, much like this one, 100-120k, an A31 can be had here, with an RB25 for around 30k. I sorta hate how popular the Skyline is, because I really love it and really want one, but I can't ever see myself throwing money away like that, even if I have it to throw away.

Live in Australia, never got taken anyway from me only thing that is rare here is evo 9 wagons an NSX's but id rather watch American Reviews then ones here cause its more excitement, :) if he got a R32 gtst best to swap in a rb25 more torquey can put better single turbos on them with out lag.. rb20s once you go over a gt30 its a laggy time

A stockish RB20 sounds so much better than a stock RB26 in my opinion. RB26s with the twins just sound so closed off. Once they get a big single though.. best sounding engine out there.

Madwolf SYD The R32 only came with the RB25de though. The GTS25. Never really understood why the GTS25T didn't come about till the R33. Would have been cool to have a GTST and a GTS25T R32.

no, the R32 GTS-T had only the RB20. the R33 and R34 gts-t and GT-T had RB25

Lex Buren There was a GTS25 (non-turbo) late model R32. It wasn't a GTST. I believe a 93 or 94. The GTS25T didn't come till the R33. GTST is R32, GTS25T is R33 and GTT is R34

I see the potential in the GTS-t, best swap potential, swap the rb26dett and you have a car thats faster then the GTR, because your having to put power to only the rear wheels and not all wheels, if anything your will be able to make some good money selling your jdm rb20det on craigslist and be able to put that money towards a rb26dett, plus you have both options of having a sick drift car or a fast as shit skyline. But to be honest I'm saving my money up waiting for the Celica GT-FOUR ST-205 to turn 25 years old so i can buy it right away, personally it think it's better than a skyline because all replacment parts on a skyline are import only still, the S205 has the same motor as the MR 2 Turbo so parts are here domestically, even if i blow the motor it's not costing me a fortune to replace.

Won't be faster at all. AWD though heavier gives you better traction so you can get off the line and around the bends easier. If RWD was faster why wouldn't Nismo versions of the GT-R use RWD?
