I’m a former Aegis Operations Specialist, who served as TIC/FTC in 7th fleet between 86-91 through the Gulf War as Zulu Foxtrot on datalink DSA and AAWC&R. I reported the SCUD detections by the Mobile Bay SPY-1 in Feb. 91 reported by datalink and voice to ZW and too Patriot batteries in the link who correlated and engaged them, confirming the Aegis BMD capability we have today. Mobile Bay and her crew were recognized by the Missile Defense Agency with their Pathfinder award in Jan. 2022. As I’ve taken the dive into DCS with thrust master hotas warthog, rudders, and TrackIR running on an old ASUS Core I7 with NVIDIA GTX 960M. It has 3 usb and DVD I/o and seems to work well though not on my Panasonic 3-D hdtv (accept watching your videos oddly). I plan to get a an ultrawide curved monitor soon while I continue to configure my hotas and rig. I started old school by getting the F-14B as I’m very interested in learning the air role of my surface job as a RIO. I was a qualified AIC but never got to use it other than to get the qual I was so married to AAW and datalink track coordination and management. I’d welcome any support here. The videos I’m watching don’t convey the command and reporting C2/3 environment I’m used to but otherwise I have 10 active duty years of seat time experience shipboard. I’ve particularly enjoyed your videos with Naval engagements, planning and operations too as I was heavily involved with It. Would love to see Aegis ship CIC’s in operation even on a limited scale like AAW, datalink and shipboard AIC. I built Aegis training simulations for these roles for the Navy many years for ships specs, so know of an existing front end from the console level operations. I imagine something similar could be added to DCS with similarly talented coders and SME’s… I’m hooked. So would appreciate any bones 🦴 to get me flying- even a ride or setup advice for my gear… look forward to getting to know some of you in similar situations. Thanks guys! “TIC” Starting a KZbin channel called “The Hook Locker” for old NTDS and AEGIS operators. Veteran in Knoxville

Just wanted to confirm “there were no blue-on-blue” air engagements throughout the war according to the CNO’’s after action report of war. It also mentioned the extreme track loads observed over the gulf , where the ingress and egress lanes existed. Constant streams of aircraft and tomahawks saw the identification of over 16,000 aircraft by Bunker Hill and Mobile Bay alternating duties as FAAWC and FTC. I’m proud to have played a role in that success.

I was at Jeddah (flying on KC10 Tankers) when the B52G got hit by the HARM and came back in (That unit [344 Bomb Squadron] was at Jeddah in the same living compound as us, and about 10 years earlier I was in that unit as a gunner myself). The search radar on the buff is in the same frequency range as the Russian SA4 SAM systems. The HARM sheared the turret off clean. As you can bet, the Gunners weren't allowed to run their systems after that. :) As a former B52G Gunner is was rather fun to rib them about that. :P

Hi Guy's, Cap. Some years ago I heard a story about an RAF Harrier taking part in an exercise up in Scotland. There was this bloke quietly driving his car along a certain road (I don't know which road) and there was at least one 'hidden dip' along the road (and it wasn't tomato sauce). Imagine what this must have been like. As the driver came up to a dip in the road ahead and he began to enter it, he braked rather quickly. Just ahead of him, in the road, was a Harrier, hiding from 'enemy aircraft,' or 'search radar.' Could you reenact this, is it worth it? I am not sure if it had landed (although I suspect it was) or hovering, which would have made it more visible and probably not good for the engine. Cheers guys, love the videos and the subjects.

I was watching videos of yours showing sounds in a cockpit, they were mostly radar noises, but here in this video at 42:37 to 43:23 the guy's aircraft makes 2 strange tones. What are those noises?
