Great video I just got my 4 post socket in the mail from Amazon today and this weekend I'll be working on my wheel bearings on my 98 sidekick this video helped a lot I had no idea what I was in for

I made a couple of videos, but I did not show using the press because I did not have one at the time and so I went to the local high school and the shop teacher let me use the school's press to get the old races out and press the new ones in.

Is there a correct torque setting on that little ring or is it just tight?
@nunapitchuk2 жыл бұрын
I do not understand what ring you are talking about. The one with 4 phillips screws? If so, then yes, just snug them down tight, but don't overdo it. They are a major headache if you strip the tops. Also, check this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYKzdGCqost-rJI

good video. Which fasteners would you Loc-tite going back together?
@nunapitchuk5 жыл бұрын
I did not use loc-tite on any of those bolts. I just tried to make sure everything was clean and torqued to specs.
@danstrayer1115 жыл бұрын
thanks Frank...I thought those 4 small phillips head screws might get it.
@nunapitchuk5 жыл бұрын
I don't think it could hurt as long as you could still get them out without stripping the tops. Maybe a drop of loc tite blue, would not recommend using red toc tite on them. Stripping the top on one trying to get it out will ruin more than one day.

@nunapitchuk5 жыл бұрын
Look up geo tracker/suzuki sidekick groups on face book. There are several who sell used parts. Randy Gibbs in Washington is one that I can name off hand. He is a specialist for these cars. I actually have a couple, but the shipping from my place in Alaska would be too expensive.

Hey Frank just finished up my wheel bearing, reassembled everything but my manual locking hub won’t sit flush on the surface? Any tips or help? Thank you
@nunapitchuk3 жыл бұрын
First suspicion is that it is not lined up properly. Try pulling it off and check that the little slot on the inside is lined up with the tab on the hub and slide it back on. It should slide all the way on flush with ease.
@darrentylor54735 жыл бұрын
Do you know if you can buy the pre built wheel bearing hub assembly and if they will drop in and stay with the clip? I know they work on 2003 model, I have a 2000.

The x90 steering knuckle is the same on 96 to 98 and this is the best way get one in the junkyard and put the whole knuckle in
@nunapitchuk Жыл бұрын
I don't know about "best way", but that would certainly be the easier and quicker fix. Probably cheaper too. Problem is not knowing the condition of the one from the junk yard. How long will it last? I think rebuilding it with new bearings and seals and grease is better because then I know it's like new quality.

Great video thanks 1 question, is there an easy way to get the old bearing case out without a press? Can it be tapped or from the back? Doing the job on mine this week
@nunapitchuk4 жыл бұрын
It is wide and pressed in very tight. I think if you tried to pound it out or cut it out then you would destroy the hub. When you put it in the press and have a few tons of pressure on it and it still doesn't move then use a hammer and tap around it to make vibrations to get it to start moving. Also, you have to have a press to put the new one in. Mine took some serious pressure to push in. When I did not have a press I asked the local high school shop teacher and he let me use the school press. You could probably get any local garage/shop to let you use their press for a small fee or free. You will definitely need a press for this job.
