Final run for the old Merc before repowering with an F200. She still runs good and has plenty of power.

I have the same motor on my 21 outrage. When I cold start it, I have no clue what I am doing when starting. I somehow always manage to flood the carbs. I push the center in, put it in mid throttle, choke and go and it floods.

There are no carbs on this motor. Hence the “EFI” (electronic fuel injection).

What made you decide to get a new engine and are you seeing any performance changes with the new one?

I fish near shore in the ocean and was starting to lose confidence in the 20 year old motor. Also, the old motor gave me questionable range when targeting Tuna offshore. The new motor is propped differently but I do have better hole shot and low-mid range torque. I have to cruise around 3k rpm higher to achieve the same cruise speed but the new motor also has a 4k higher redline. Its also quieter, sounds better (subjective), and way, way better on fuel.

I got a same motor as this one 1997 200hp offshore. If you don't mind telling me what is your top speed on motor and what size is your Boston? Mine is 220ccf wellcraft and my top speed 2 person about 40 to 4mph 4 blade prop.

22’ Outrage. Best I ever saw was 46mph. Average top speed closer to 43-44mph. Running an 18” Enertia.
