greetings from the US great video I find it neat to see how cars are like in your side of the world!
@tavriadriver9 жыл бұрын
1999. 17 years after production started, and 13 years before it ended. Fuel injection was the only real improvement in that time. In every other respect, the cars got a bit cheaper every year. Shame, really. A 1980s one in good condition is a real treat.

One good thing about these cars is that they were great rally cars

These lada' are based on the Fiat 124 platform saying that there slightly more reliable than a fiat and tough as hell .. Have to be to survive a Russian winter!

Only a handful left in the UK now, most of them were re-exported back to Russia, converted to left and drive and resold. They are bombproof!

I've seen a video of one of these being shot by a 152mm shell from a Russian SPG, and the round bounced of the roof.

A car like this would be GREAT today if modernized... possibly with a CVT automat transmission, etc... It would sell very well!!!
@Trikster1of49 жыл бұрын
Oh dear god not with a CVT Those transmissions absolutely suck
@RJLightning689 жыл бұрын
Trikster1of4 that car also sucks and was regarded as one of the worst cars ever made...
@HeftyIde8 жыл бұрын
+RJLightning68 No, it doesn’t. This car is a modernized version of the Fiat 124, which was regarded as the 1967 European Car of the Year, and gained popularity for its low price, simplicity, and repairability. It got better headlights, more solid doors and safer seats, new radial tires, the dashboard was equipped with a tachometer and a clock, the outside rear-view mirrors could be operated from the interior, etc., but the overall design was kept intact. It was still a descendant of the Fiat 124 and an exceptionally cheap, simple and efficient car, which was quite good for driving on roads with bad conditions, had extremely cheap spare parts and could be repaired even by the most inexperienced owner; the only reason why it became an object of scorn was that it was produced for way too long and couldn’t compete with more up-to-date cars.
@RJLightning688 жыл бұрын
Hefty Ide Still doesn't help it wasn't a great car. Plus look how many people don't like it all that much. Not to mention, it was badly made with cheap plastics but it doesn't help that this quite a few eastern bloc cars were just bad.
@HeftyIde8 жыл бұрын
+RJLightning68 Nobody says that it was “great”, “outstanding”, “innovative” or anything like that; it was merely a modernised Fiat 124, a cheap, simple and good-looking workhorse that could be fixed even by a teen, and that’s why it has been hugely popular during the last 30 years. I don’t know about those who “don't like it” (it is most likely that they compare this old car to newer and/or more expensive models), but it holds the title of the most sold second-hand car in the former Soviet Union and still has its fans; as a station wagon, it is praised for its carrying capacity, repairability, and extremely low price. I’ve used to drive these cars, got two of them in my collection and have to say that their quality had been good until the Soviet automotive industry declined in the late 1980s-1990s. If you take care of this car - and it doesn’t need much care - it will serve you for ages.

It looks like 3 different Ladas mashed together to make some sort of Franken-Lada.

If I had lots of money, I'd buy these kind of car, it has lots of feature, classic looking, even though it is not realible compare with now era cars, but I still choose these cars, I like classic
@crown6742 жыл бұрын
What features? The only new feature it had was a fuel injection engine, the rest remained the same since the car began production in the 80s.

Can a 2107 be modified to have AWD (like an Audi Quattro or Subaru Impreza) without any external modifications?

If they were reliable and they sold in USA, I would drive one.
@Mr_Fancypants5 жыл бұрын
I gues you buy these for the fun. I saw them being sold here in germany for 1500 € (which is currently 17342 $) in decent condition. I would totally get one as a extra car to mess around with. No way i will keep this as a main car. The danger of breaking down and not having spare parts is a real danger. I might get one if i can just find the right one.

Piece of shit car, had one in cuba, it sucked, slow, uncomfortable, ugly, no a/c, loud engine, no power steering, the engine has no power, and I had to live in the shop while I had it, so glad I got rid of it.
@FINtr0ll997 жыл бұрын
I have one and I love it. It's the '96 1.7 liter fuel injected model. I don't think it's that slow and it's actually quite comfortable. In my opinion it's not that ugly, but the 2105 model does look better... Mine does have a/c which happens to make a terrible noise when it's cold but it works! I do agree that the engine is a bit loud but not too loud. Power steering is not necessary for me. The 84 horsepower that the 1.7 liter engine produces is enough for me. I don't really see much that's so bad about it but each to their own I guess... I just happen to like these types of cars. It's really warm in the winter, rear wheel drive (always fun in the snow) and it starts up really well even in the cold. Overall a great winter car (remember that it's made by the Russians). It's not really made for warm countries with big cities and lots of turning though so I get that you don't like it very much... But for me (living in Finland in a city that is not that big where there's typically quite cold winters) it's very nice.
