I am impress of this vehicle been sold on 2012 brand new. My father had this specific model from 1992 and until today my uncle mentions to me still runs great. As is mention in a few comments, tey are made for really cold temperatures. We had this car in Colombia (South America) and one of the big issues was the acceleration during climate change when we travel between hot and cold cities. Also, the distribution chain instead of a belt had a tensiometer system that keep the chain well adjust. Little maintenance and very easy to work on. It would be great to get another car like this!!!

+Theres No God I believe the new Lada models, such as the Granta, Vesta and the XRAY are built with renault/nissan parts too. Also the car in the video stopped production in 2012.

They are not hard to come by when you have a few grand to ship and import them. They do not have to pass emissions tests, because only a few states in America have emissions tests (california, new york). I live in Indiana and you can drive whatever you want. The buses here pump out more smog than 100 Ladas.

I love the design of the older Lada's like 2107/Nova, Samara or 2110. I don't know why, i just like it. Since 2009 the Lada 2107 is sold in Germany for 6.999 euros, the same price as the new Dacia Sandero in the cheapest version.

Love the mindless little of comments of so many dumbos here. In most parts of the world, MILLIONS of people would buy this LADA car. In its utter simplicity, it is a vehicle that will fit the OVERWHELMING majority of the people, just about everywhere: Low price, reliable, well built, cheap in terms of fuel consumption (small engine) and easy to both repair and maintain. Millions of people in the so-called "Western" world are paying for cars they can barely afford (you know, those monthly payments people struggle to comply with) -and i am not talking about luxury cars here-, and when the time comes to go your dealership for yearly maintenance, oil change, or whatever repair becomes necessary, you can expect your wallet to get gang raped -it´s the so called culture of the "customer service", which equals to "please bend over and get prepared for a rather brutal fuck".

The 2107 made its platform for what we recognize as the typical communist car. Every single bit of it was made to be as annoying, uncomfy and wrong as possible.

Were these ever sold in the United Kingdom as Left Hand drive? If they were sold over here, I would love to get hold of one, you don't see car like this over here now! I know LADAs used to have a reputation for being very basic and crude in design, but they were well built cars! My Grandad has two and both were extremely reliable, he drove all over Germany and France in them, never encountered any problems. However, due to emission regulations being strict over here, I believe that after the mid 1990's we didn't have LADAs over here anymore! Pity, I have always liked them and often fancied owning one, but you never see them! :-( I would love to know if any of these ever did make it over to the UK! :-)

One of my favourite cars of all time, ever since being a little girl, I loved the shape and rugged no nonsense value for money, non pretentious family favourite that was the Lada, not to mention the romantic image of a car from the USSR !! , I finally lived my dream when, in 1993 my parents bought me a brand new Lada 2105, labelled as (Riva 1500E in the UK market), it was a deep shade of red, looked beautiful (to me anyway), plus it was a lot of car for very little money, half the price of a Vauxhall Astra, or Ford Escort of the time, I loved that car and wanted to replace it with another one after a few years, needless to say I was heartbroken when emission laws forced Ladas to be withdrawn from the UK market !!.

Do they have a diesel version? Never noticed one when they were on sale in the UK. The fuel gauge doesn't seem to work on your test car.

Most of them came with petrol engines, but a small batch VAZ-2104 were equipped with a 1.5L 53 hp diesel engine assembled in Barnaul, Russia. From 1999 - 2004 around 6000 examples were produced.
