This video is AMAZING!!! I’m a 38 year old women, who has never worked on her own car before. I just replaced the blower in my 2012 Nissan Rogue, in 3 hours, for $87. My auto place quoted me $500!!! I literally cannot thank you enough!!!!

I DID THIS... thank you for showing step by step!!! This took me about 3.5 hours but it was worth it, the local shops wanted over $500 in labor. THERE IS A MISSING STEP.... when you go to turn the fan to unlock it, there is a tab next to the 10mm screw that you have to bend up and then it will turn out. I only figured that out because i looked at the new fan to see what it might be getting stuck on. That's also where the "snap" comes from, that locking tab. Its about 1/2 inch to the right of the screw, going clockwise.

I just completed this job on my wifes car. While your video was immensely helpful, there were a few things that should be mentioned for the avg. car owner/mechanic. 1. An extra elbow on each arm, along with an extra wrist. This will help in getting into this extremely tight spot. 2. Being a contortionist would also be helpful. 3. Having freakishly small hands that can crush bowling balls would've been nice. 4. The patience of a saint. 5. A large vocabulary of cuss words. 6. At least 3 10MM sockets. 7. Beer. Lots and lots of beer. 8. Light. The brighter the better. 9. Did I mention the freakishly small hands? 10. The person who designed this system, head on a platter.

This video helped a ton! I tried my best to twist the old motor out to no avail. Ended up finding out that if you pull back on one tab just above the 8mm bolt and twist left it will come right out. Also there is a little black box with two screws in it that controls the vents...if you remove that first you can get the old blower motor out easier and obviously install the new one a little easier too. It is on the right hand side and has a small electrical plug on it. Hope this helps someone else.

How did you know the blower motor was bad? My a/c was working just fine. The next time I started my car, nothing was blowing out of the vents. Both fuses in the inside fuse box were good. I know my a/c is working because when I turn the a/c on, I can hear ans feel the car kind of bog down when the a/c compressor starts. I can cup my hand over a vent and feel that there is cold air there, its just that nothing blows out. Since the fuses are good, is my next step to install a new blower motor?

I just watched your video twice then replaced the struggling blower in my 2013 Rogue S. Everything went as you described, but it took me a long time fussing with that hard-to-reach top nut on the bracket before I realized that I could take off the steering column bottom cover and get slightly better access above the bracket. That only involved removing 3 screws and I wish I had thought of it earlier (or just thought ahead and bought a swivel adapter for my socket). The new blower runs much quieter and faster than the worn-out original I replaced. That hour I spent saved me hundreds of dollars!
@geddygeforce7279
@geddygeforce7279 3 жыл бұрын
Removing the lower half of the steering column was the ONLY way I could get access to the top nut of the last metal bracket in the way. Like William said - 3 screws. This needs to be pinned to save other DIYers the aggravation.

This is a great video! The only thing I would add is that I removed the driver's seat before I started on my 2011. For the sake of 4 torx bolts, it was well worth the extra 10 minutes!

Thank you for this!! I was quoted $1050 for this at my local Firestone and was like yeah no thanks! Bought the blower motor assembly and resistor for $99 and just finished this in under 4 hours. Had to run and buy a 13mm deep socket. I changed in on my Nissan Versa note 2015. Had some trouble removing the pedal assembly Because of the steering column but eventually took it out. I recommend wearing some work gloves throughout this because I have plenty of cuts all over but this was definitely worth my time to save money! Thanks for the help!!

Really, great video! As an automotive apprentice when I get stuck, sometimes I look to videos like this for guidance and support. Well done with the camera angles and everything. Just completed this task. Really would not have been successful without this video. 2.5 hours including a trip to local hardware to get 1/4 inch universal and 13mm deep well. (Which I thought I had both😳) Longest delay was trying to figure out how to disconnect the wiring harnesses. Just not that familiar with all the styles and they were hard to see the latches. I took time to wipe out grim from the blower housing. Blowing cold air again and air smells like new car! Thanks again. Best video on the subject I could find. Exceptional camera work and commentary.

Thank you. AWESOME video. Very well explained. Only major problem I had was getting the new blower motor back in place. I ended up removing the black plastic heater vent flap control. It is held in by 2 phillips head screw and a connector. Went in fairly easy after that. Took me about 4 hours. And that includes a 45 minute break to relax after not being able to get the new one back in. Thanks again.

I really like the fact that you show how hard some of these part replacements really are instead of acting like everything runs smoothly. You did a great video on a Toyota 4Runner blower motor (I have a 2008) and it was much easier to replace than on this Nissan Rogue.

Excellent video! Great job with the lighting, the camera shots, the angle. Everything was done so clearly. Honestly, the best video to watch, when it comes to a DIY for a Nissan blower motor. I have to agree with everyone that this was the worst possible place to install the blower motor, and I remember seeing a list of the 5 most common problems with the first generation Nissan Rogue - and the very first one in the list was the blower motor! I have a 2011 Rogue in which the fan stopped working. I wasn't sure whether it was the motor or the resistor - but one clue (i think) was that if I banged on the side, or the top of the dash, I could get the fan to start working (until that trick stopped working!). I had read that this symptom was the blower motor. I followed the instructions in the video, and after several hours of contorting and cursing, I got the blower motor removed, and then replaced. One other person had commented that pushing at the white plastic, near the screw of the blower motor, helps in removing it. I have to agree. I could not do it by just rotating the blower motor anti-clockwise as shown in the video. Also, to pull out the blower motor, past all the protrusions, for me at least, was not possible, without removing a black box (that controls some vents) that was held by TWO screws. You have to be careful though, as this black thingy connects with several plastic parts that mate with various "channels". You will have to make sure that they all line up properly, and move freely, when re-installed. Thanks for a great video!

Thank you for this video. I have had just about every major part changed on my 2011 Nissan Rogue. Have to say this car is a money pit. I'm finally checking to see if others are having these same issues and looking at some of the repairs to see what it entails to fix the issues. Well I see why things can get expensive to replace. Unfortunately for Nissan I will no longer be a customer as the parts and constant repair and maintenance are beyond normal. Transmission, drive shaft, axles, airbag spinal cord, many boots , door locks, rear door lock, blower for heater,etc.. bought this car in 2014 w 65,000 now at 127,000 thank heaven people are educating others on how to avoid some of the expense.

Thanks for the video it definitely helped. Only took me one hour and ten mins but definitely needed the swivel for the top bolt of the bar that’s a pain. I went up next to the steering column through a gap on the plastic to get at it. Also have a magnetic light it’s almost impossible to see that top nut standing on your head.13mm deep socket luckily I had. And having an impact for all the bolts helped. Extensions and an 8mm ratcheting box wrench for that fan bolt. Can’t get that good of a view of it so you can feel it with that type of wrench. Thanks again

Anyways, following this video, it took me about two hours. Maybe about 90min if you take away all my breaks and back and forth for tools lol. I can feel them at the vent when I turn on those settings I just don’t get air flow (this was before I replaced the parts). Aside from the relay, what else could my issue be?

OMG... Thank you for this video! Saved me tons of time and shop costs... Only thing that sucks is the brake connector gets in the way of the removal and install... Was afraid I was going to break some of the blades... Just have to push past it. Other than that, it was a simple, but long process. Two plus hour job... Glad I had something to compare to!

Great video, the shots up inside are very helpful. That top right 10mm nut looked impossible to get back on but a combination of your trick of tape around the swivel joint and a bit of blue tack on the nut to hold it to the socket got it first try! I did this the hard way first time (according to the service manual, taking the instrument cluster off etc.) and this is much faster and no harder.

Once you were finished and turned the fan back on, that's the sound I'm getting on my wife's car. The fan is working fine but it sounds just like that one you did here, like something is stuck in the squirrel cage hitting something. Any idea what that sound is? Maybe something got sucked up in from the passenger side floor board, I don't know.

You shouldn't have to dissemble your car to replace a part that has a limited lifespan such as bulbs, brake pads, and freaking blower motors. Thanks for a clear and concise method to tackle what could be a nightmare.

Hey buddy! Just replaced my blower, thanks to your instructional, but there's one thing I'd like to add. The clip above the screw, has a lil tab, that a flat head screwdriver helps outta the way. I'm no weakling, but I had to call for outside assistance from a carpenter buddy that has ham-hands to twist that bastard outta place. My lil Irish fingers are better tuned for fine work. I'll give you credit tho, Mechanic-Hulk. You've got a helluva grip.

i came here cause i was looking for a fuel pump relay for my 2012 rogue , no one can help locate this bad boy ? i was at the dealer and looking with the parts guy at all diagrams and did not show us anything on a pump relay ? go figure ? one tech came out and said you have to buy the WHOLE elect box ? i said that still does not tell me where it is ? so he did not know either ? you did a good job on this motor , i am HVAC cert myself retired ,,,,one thing i wont do is to buy a motor not from the dealer because of very good chance it will draw more amps than the original ? maybe yours wont but they told us that in school ! just saying ,,,,,,by the way even just changing a simple cabin air filter for the ac on this car is a pain in the big A ,,,,you have to bend it so it goes in ,,,,,,yagzzzzz ,,,,,,you g ave me an idea ,,,,,remove the pedals maybe next time ? ,,,,,thanks

Just did this on daughter in law car. Took me 5 hours. I’m 68 and not as limber as I once was. Video help but if you think your ever going to see the old blower until it comes out, you can forget it. Has to be done all by feel unless your head is the size of a camera and on a swivel.

Really disappointed at Nissan. I was a huge fan of Nissan due to the ease of fixing. But I think I am not anymore. It was a true pain to change the blower. The video helped a lot, without this video, it was impossible for me.

Are these motors 12V DC? I am curious if I can bypass the resistor and feed power directly to the fan to see if it works before I go to the trouble to replace it.

Your video was very informative. I will say. The bracket that holds the knee kicker in place under the steering wheel. It must come off or you will have a hard time getting the brake throttle assembly out.

I'm doing this on an 08 rogue, the black plastic duct that is just supposed to pop out is actually held in by a screw that isn't accessible through this area, I think the radio has to be removed to get to it, I ended up breaking it off than saw the screw
