I always enjoy watching people new to kayaking enjoy how peaceful it can be. I am 51 yrs old now and I've been kayaking, canoeing and John boating since I was 10 yes old. Kayaking is my go to stress reliever . I camp out of all my boats. I have really enjoyed watching your videos throughout the west and southwest regions . I live in the Missouri Ozarks and we have so many clear streams and rivers to float. Keep up the adventures. Thanks again.

Love your channel, much respect for what you do. Too many gear obsessed channels. I like that you make it about the adventure and not about a bunch of fancy gear the average person can't afford. I'm a retired Army guy living on my shitty pension so I use a lot of hand me downs and home made gear.

My father who was the fish biologist for the Idaho Fish and Game department from 1962 to 1980 when he retired. He built the boat landing that you started from in the early seventies. He spent a couple of weeks making the landing and parking lot with a D-8 cat. Of course it is a lot bigger now with a bigger parking lot.

It's really incredible what you CAN do with a relatively cheap kayak. I also have a Pelican (the 8-foot model), and it's been fun pushing it to its limits the last couple summers. Unfortunately I don't think I could fit much camping gear in there with me, but seeing the creative way you packed the cockpit makes me think it might be feasible. Thanks for the great video and happy paddling!

There are two things about using an inexpensive kayak that you have to remember. 1: They get you on the water. 2: They're fun. Sure a more expensive and purpose-built boat may do things better. But being on the water and having fun is more important. There will always be time to save for more expensive equipment.

It was a Northern Watersnake. Garter snakes have a stripe that runs down the length of their body. They would drown in a river.
@SUVRVing4 жыл бұрын
Northern water snakes are not in Idaho, and garter snakes do indeed like water. From the Idaho Department of Fish and Game: "Garter snakes are comfortable in and around water. They are found around streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, and wet meadows. Needless to say, they are excellent swimmers." Thanks for watching.
@Kezleigh_Art4 жыл бұрын
Well, you certainly showed me up. I had no idea Idaho Garter snakes looked like that. We have dark green/black/brown Garter snakes with a yellow strip and they most definitely drown in water. From Canadian Geographic "Common garter snakes can be found in just about any environment except water."

I use a Tenkara USA Amago with 3X tippet and fight the trout the second they get hooked. The secret is hand lining the big ones as fast as you can and pulling them in. They lose a lot of their power once you grab the line with your hands. I think it is a perception by fly fisherman that think Tenkara is only for small mountain streams and it is just that ... a perception, but not true. I do have plenty of examples in my videos of 18" - 20" trout (including hard fighting Kamloop Rainbows) being caught with the Amago which is designed to handle big fish. Tight Lines from Utah Tenkara.
@SUVRVing5 жыл бұрын
I know that people can and do catch big trout on big rivers with their tenkara rods, I just prefer fishing small creeks. So I don't have any experience fishing bigger water. Thanks as always for watching! We need to get out and fish the next time I'm back in Ogden.
